@rafaeluttempergher6915
@rafaeluttempergher6915 8 дней назад
@@mcshartypants Quite nice strength gains actually. Probably other stuff went up as well such my traps, core stability, sandbag and odd lifting shenanigans, as also the confidence to try different stuff. From what I recall, I had the zercher squat twice a week, around 3x5 ramped sets. A couple times I tried 15-20 reps. Went on trying zercher shrugs and even carries, but not as seriously. The abdominal discomfort from heavy loads in the zercher position is hellish. The burning feeling in the forearms eventually made me drop the zercher for regular back squats, but I do play with the lift from time to time. I didn't win any bodybuilding shows or even competed in strength (so far), but I was barely a beginner when I unlocked 1,5x BW zercher squats for fives. It might not be much but I feel proud about it. It's definitely worth investigating for a couple months.

I like doing Zerchers with a farmer's bar. The bar is thicker so there's (slightly) less discomfort in the crooks of the elbows. More significantly, because your hands are holding on to the handle, you can pull the bar into your body and really secure it. This lets me push into higher rep-ranges and/or grind out heavier weights without having to worry about my arms giving out. I can also lean forward slightly in the hole and engage more hips/glutes/lower back.

Zercher Deadlift added 90lbs to my conventional deadlift in four months, alongside absolutely busting plateaus on my squat and barbell row. I run them as fives and as heavy carries, and I am convinced that they are the single most useful and important exercise I have ever programmed. Thank you Bromley for bringing more attention to Zercher work; you were the original inspriration for picking it up a while ago through your strongman training recommendation video.

Over the last year or so, I've completely replaced back squats with zerchers and they've massively changed my outlook on squatting. Back squats are a movement I do, zerchers are a movement I enjoy. This means I push them harder and, as a result, my zercher 1RM is now higher than my back squat.

I've been trying these in a modified BullMastif routine, but instead of adding weight based on the last set amrap, I want to add to total reps for the earlier sets. I'm trying to build up work capacity after not squating and dling for a while due to various injuries and pains, so I'm only adding weight every couple of weeks. I've been thinking of using some simplified calc like adding 0.25 or 0.5 total reps for each 2 extra reps in the amrap. How would you do something like that?

im totaly replaced back sq for zerch, bs for is not comf movement, im tall 6 3, long torso long legs, small lordosis, weak up back, injured wrist, totaly uncomfortable, i can squat atg but holding bar on back is not for my build, i barely bs 5x5 with 100kg, but zerch omg, i fired 10 reps with ease. I think you have to just find whats best for your build/skeleton/leverages. And my legs are growing and getting stronger from sesion to sesion, and iam just started month ago doing zerch. Got some weird sorenes in inner hamstring, and also some fulness of muscle something like that. I will also try front sq with straps, cant hold cause damn wrist injury.

For all the new zercher squatters out there, pls dont try and do them as Haviland does, literally misses the whole point of the movement. If you use your lower back to jerki it up its basically not giviing you anything. You should maintain upright position slowly go down until bar touches your quads(that means wide stance cause other wise your elbows will hit quads first and reduce rom) and then squeeze your butt and pop of with your legs while not rocking forward with your upper body. That way it teaches you actually to hold weight in a stable position that is in front of you but also pumps your legs and glutes for growth. This really helped me to push my squat by 50 pounds in a matter of couple months.
