hand to hand swings with the 32kg is fun. I don't usually worry too much about getting to chest height, especially when going really heavy, like with 79kg. If I get there, I get there, but it's more important, in my view, to focus on the hinge and staying tight. Not looking to get injured while screwing around with super heavy swings!

So focusing on the heavy weights with the swings helped you to work on core stiffness, and therefore alleviating lower back pain? What exactly caused the switch from feeling irritation, as you mentioned, to no longer feeling it? Thanks for putting this together, and for any additional insight you can provide!

Your first questions Kyle: „Superstiffness“ may cause problems for people with pre-existing conditions where the spine is not able to handle shear loads. In this case, you want to swing lighter weights in a softer manner. Second question: I‘m guessing that I‘ve built enough unilateral strength now. My body is now able to handle the loads and velocity of the weight without feeling irritated. - Gregory

Good advice. Been the swing almost daily. Now when I do circuits of cleans and snatches with lesser weight it’s almost effortless.

I'm a beginner, currently using a 16kg kb for swings and squats, and two 10kg kbs for other above-the-chest exercises where I can't (yet) lift the 16kg kb. What should I aim to increase these to, once I've gained some control with this present set of weights? Should it be a gradual increase or a bigger jump? Any advice is appreciated. Love your channel, btw.

Aiming for a double 16kg workout allows a good progression for swings, clean and press, snatches and squats.

If I’m starting out doing simple and sinister. Should I be doing a moderate weight? Not weight more on the heavy side? And I’ve been told by StrongFirst guys that I should squat more almost like a deadlift but here I see you are doing more of hip hinging which one is better for my posterior development?

If you‘re starting out, always go light first. Not having to squat down in the back swing is a demonstration of strength because your body can handle the gravitational pull. If you have to squat deeper into a deadlift stance; do it. - Gregory

Is it necessary to keep the arms bent? Because mine are usually straight at chest height.

I keep my arms in a natural position. Too much extension shifts the weight too far away from my center of mass. - Gregory

Why are you only swinging from your elbow? Proper swing technique is with a straight arm. Your arm bends more each time you increase the weight. Essentially, cheating (yourself).

I’m swinging from the hips brother. Straight arms increase the distance of the weight to your center of mass; which creates unnecessary effort. Cheating is a worthless term that doesn’t add any meaning to kettlebell training. - Gregory
