You won't have eyes tonight; you won't have ears or a tongue. You will wander the underworld blind, deaf, and dumb, and all the dead will know: This is Hector. The fool who thought he killed Achilles.
Forget it Everyone who made it big ever was probably damaged goods. Hollywood is not for the nice guys and gals, you gotta have that Acquaintance of Epstein's pedo, drugy, Slave serve rich master, erand boy, sleep around with anyone, share nudes on the dark web kinda faulty side to you.. And then maybe with a little talent and lot's of luck, MAYBE!
Originally he was a stand up comedian in Australia. Thanks to a real Australian gangster he made it into movies. The rest is history. I'm sure he'll be delighted to have been in films such as Troy and Munich (where he's got the main part). Not underrated at all. Maybe he could have had a career as big as Russel Crowe though.
Achilles is a Bad Arse warrior! But Damn it's hard not to root for Hector. He was the epitome of the greatest guy. Warrior Prince, Husband, Father, Son and benevolent leader
The cousindeci 90% chance? If your fighting Achilles then there is no chance of winning period. Death is 100% guaranteed and whether or not it is an honorable death depends on how badly you pissed him off.
The most gangster scene I’ve ever watched in cinema. The balls on both these men. Achilles rolling up by himself yelling for Hector. Hector answering the call knowing certain death awaits. Achilles dragging Hector’s corpse mean mugging the Trojans.
One of the best choreographed battle and both Brad Pitt and Eric Bania are indeed very good. It's a "Brad Pitt " movie, but all the main actors deserve all the appreciation.
Hector's biggest mistake was that the moment he realized that Helen was on the ship he should have turned back ask 1000x forgiveness and punish his idiot brother accordingly. Instead he gave a simple excuse for war. Hector was a fool with principles and payed the price!!
It was too late, Menelaus would've never forgave he would've just k!lld all 3 of them and his brother who always wanted Troy, would have invaded knowing Hector was d3ad. It was a lost cause as soon as Helen left her castle.
@MrArjunchoudhary it means he wasn't going to strike Hector while he was fallen on the ground, cause then ppl would say that Achilles struck a fallen man (cowardly)and his win wouldn't be glorious
For me, the real hero is not achillies, but Hector. He is truly a great, wise and balanced leader. If the Council had listened to him, nothing was happening to troy, but 😔😔
It's funny because Paris develops some of his brothers common sense. When they went to the beach and found the horse, the first thing Paris said was to burn it. Had they listened to Paris...
Yes he did. His men testifying to that too saying they thought it was him and moved like him But I agree that Hector probably had that thought after realizing it was Patricleus.
@@Mustang-bk4ns in the Illiad, Patroclus was the second best warrior of the Greeks. But still far behind Achilles. That's why even his own companions didn't realize it wasn't Achilles
Hearing achilles screaming into the sky whilst hector aoftly talks to his father for the last time is funny to me. It just shows how insane he is. Hes a fucking sociopath. And im all for it 😁
Gutvald Diomedes had help from Athena though otherwise he would not have been able to beat Ares. Never read the Illiad(just going by wha people comment on about it) so I am not sure if he had help from Athena when it came to Apollo and Aphrodite but I know she helped him beat Ares. Diomedes sounds badass from what I hear but I think people tend to overhype him when it comes to his accomplishments as he had help from the gods(then again, almost every major chaacter in the story had devine help from time to time). As for the demigods quote posted by yoboyrob201, Achilles was indeed superhuman(stronger than Ajax the Greater who himself was most likely superhuman, faster than Ajax the Lesser who was pretty darn fast, ect.) but not to the extent of TRUE superhumans like Hercules and Kratos who are both physically capable of KILLING the olympian gods\godesses while other demigods are just able to simply stand up to them and, if lucky enough, hurt\wound them.
Well I don"t think Greeks stories are enough precise to really make a sort of top 3 of heroes you know, it's not Marvel . I just remember that Diomedes, with the help of Athena, can see the other gods on the battlefield, and hurt Aphrodite, and then flee in front of Hector and Ares. Don"t know if it makes him better than Achille or other, and it's not really the point of the story in my opinion.
Have you ever met someone with it that had any kind of character or morality? 3rd world countries are planned? Venereal diseases and bacterial infections are planned. Rape is planned, slavery is planned too. Its a piece of crap, nothing more, nothing less. Whether you carry it or not.
Prop to balls, but otherwise Absolutely 0. First by going down there, he gave Troy up. And 2., he abandonned his wife and son. Would hav' been me, pffff please archers shoot this fella
Finally a whole clip of this. This made me tear up when he was saying goodbye to everyone especially his wife and son. Hector was such an amazing honorable man with morals and principles. He did not deserve to die. As much as I loved Achilles he was wrong for killing hector. Achilles was a better warrior but hector was a far better man.
Nicole Zuriee everything in life leaves consequences. Blame Hector's brother for fucking another man's wife. Then he was too pussy to die in a one on one battle for that same woman. War begins and Hector kills Achilles cousin. Finally of course, Achilles kills Hector. Everything starts from Hector's brother's affairs. So, is Hector a better man than achilles, maybe. If he is also better than his brother and would likely still be alive according to the movie's version of the story.
What would you rather carry. Something that will enhance your life and make the years you have worth wild? Or something you carry forever that will ruin your life and if you're lucky you might end up roadkill.
@@johnrobinson1762 You will not even aplologize (the word is 'apologize with a 'Z') for incorrect use of words, bad grammar and spelling? That does not sound like a fair deal to me. Lol In any case, if you want to reply to me some more. I will be more than happy to continue to correct your silly mistakes. 🤪
The choreography in this fight says so much: Hector is a highly skilled warrior, but Achilles' every move is tactically brilliant: footwork, timing, balance, everything is perfect. By the end, Hector is sucking wind, yes, and of course he loses, but Achilles himself is breathing hard. As outmatched as Hector was, no one else could have given Achilles such a good fight.
@@brianchavez2113 It doesn't help Hector that Achilles was a demigod. If not for Achilles, Hector would have been the greatest warrior of those times, but Hector wasn't fortunate to be born a demigod.
Achilles was one scary son of a bitch! If he screamed my name like that I'd just grab a bowl of grapes and watch him scream all day, ain't fighting that demon!
If he was still enraged by his cousin's demise then he surely would even the likes of Menelaus and Agamenon couldn't stop him lol. ...Except for the brilliant and crafty Odysseus though..he might be able to talk sense to Achilles to stand down.
He is a warrior. Warriors tend to scream in battle, so screaming is something he is used to doing, no, he shouldnt be loosing his voice. (From experience)
@@dlwst44No,this was because of Achilles' tarded cousin Petracles pretending to be him in battle and getting ch0pped down by Hector (who thought Petracles was Achilles as he was in his full armor).....
Achilles was full of shit. Never fought for a cause, was arrogant because his mother dunked him in a river making him nearly invulnerable. Hector was the real champ.
nah you're full of shit. Achilles fought for Immortality - His name in history remembered forever! That's the greatest cause ever because if nobody remembers you, you may as well never have been. Achilles wasn't an immortal, he was just the greatest most skilled and fearless warrior ever. Ppl feared him, making him even harder to fight. Hector was a good man, but so was Achilles, he protected Hector's cousin and fought Hector mainly out of anguish because he had slain his cousin. The real champ was Achilles, he beat all the greatest warriors fairly and convincingly, stamped his name in history, and was killed by a coward with a cheap shot
Very funny no one talked about the weakling that took another's wife that led to such incident, considering the Era portrayed in the video, he should be the one dieing brutally not Hector.
Achilles fought for personal glory except for this battle when avenged his cousin. He was like a mercenary. Hector was a prince, father, husband and a patriot. He had too much on his shoulders including the responsibility of his cowardly brother.
This movie was historically mythically so accurate 1. Hector did successfully hit Achillies several times but his armor was made by Hephaustes and brought by her goddess mother and it cannot be penetrated 2. Achillies’s weakness and lifeline was in his ankle and Hector aimed tried to hit it. Loved when movies were used to made like this
*demigod, well actually on the Illyad, Hectors flees when Achiles is coming for him, the chase was so long that they went around the city walls (yes the whole city) 12 times and after that Hector faces him and an epic fight ensues which ends with Achiles impaling Hector with his huge spear (according to Homer it was 5 meters long). Aside from the chase the fight is quite true to what was written.
@@BPIII71 The question of putting your nation and countrymen's safety over your personal glory also remains. Hector not sending those arrows into Achilles is a classic example of how literature and movies differ from reality.
@@kushrajjaoli7767 Yeah. I know there is creative license issues, but even with Modern War’s official rules of engagements, there are things done in such a manner.
I saw it too... Achilles saw the move coming, that was y he actually blocked it with his leg shield... Kudos to Hector. Who was not just brave, but also a very tactically gifted warrior and swordsman. As for Achilles, he's just too perfect. The fight went exactly how he wanted it to go
I never noticed that, but that lets me know that if he didn't have that leg shield and plot armor, Hector would have won or has some type of advantage now but instead he didn't and this dude went out to an arrow. I'm going to have to give my heart to Hector. Long story short when we was all young Achilles was badass but as we got older Hector is our heart.
I love this legend, just goes to show how powerful Hector was as he made proper contact on Achilles first... but he was just invincible above the foot. Even Achilles looked down on his chest thinking wtf my armour must be light and strong
Watching this scene again you realize that Hector was doomed from the beginning of this fight; he's totally distracted by thoughts of family, brother, dreams, even Achilles final words: No pacts between lions and men is a taunt. He had no chance of victory with that extra weight. He should have got a 24 hour adjournment.
You make a great point. Whereas Achilles set out from the start to attack. Plus he had no wife, son, etc to entangle his mind and thoughts. Hector had no time to prepare mentally, emotionally.
@@barryelwinda4123 Davit cheated with a slingshot. Hector could have allowed the archers to pin cushion Achilles but he was honorable, not like David, going to a duel armed with a long-range weapon.
Those up on the wall along with hector knew how this was going to end from the beginning. Hector was their best but he was no match for Achilles but because was a Prince of Troy he had to go out and face Achilles.
Critics slammed this movie when it came out. Now it's considered a modern classic, as it should be. Audiences loved it. Yes, it's very different from the literature, but they really did a great job packing it into one movie. "IS THERE NO ONE ELSE!?" is just as quoted as "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!?". Props to all the actors, they were all excellent.
I really love how they made Achilles fight like a God without having to add any CG fukery. That being said, Hector was my favorite in this movie, and I really hated seeing him die, even though I knew it was coming. Kind of like the Red Viper and the Mountain in GOTs.
Whaaat, I thought it was Hector wanting to see Achilles so bad at first place '-', but he was shy he didn't call so Achilles has to pay back a visit in proper way in front of the door '-'
According to my English teacher it was probably a hot summer in the Mediterranian that year, 105-110 degree summer days...The fact they could even fight at all was amazing.
Typical example of honour vs glory. Achilles may have been the better warrior, but Hector was the more honourable human. Very similar to Djokovic and Federer. Djokovic may have won more titles, but Federer is the one who is loved by all
I realize honor is a thing.... But as soon as Hector lost why didnt the castle just rain down arrows on Achilles to stop him from taking the body? Seems they could have prevented that at least
Actually, what you say was a scene in an earlier TROY movie by the name of HELEN-Queen of Troy. In that movie, when Achilles is dragging the slain Hector, the guards alongwith Paris rain arrows on Achilles and one of the arrows finds it's mark in Achilles heels and he dies. I saw that movie about 40 years back.
For us Greeks Achilles is one of the greatest heroes. However, as Greeks we cannot overlook Ector the most noble hero in Illiad. Actually Hectors role is the history of Greeks rather than Achilles. For this reason I named my son Ector, the hero that will always defend for his country, his family and his dignity...
