A British sit-com about a Hitler with a pronounced New-Yoik accent. There must have been a lot of drugs flying around in 1990.

They had the balls to put this up on TV, hell even had the balls to show this to the channel executives!

This is actually kinda.. brilliant? A deconstruction and satire of the typical sitcoms of the time, pokes fun at all sides and doesn't take itself seriously at all.

This show was originally set to air after Hitler's children show Mien Big Kampfy Couch.

This is so ridiculous I can't laughing about the absurdity. This was real and more then one person didn't think it was the worst idea ever

Imagine what the following seasons would've been like. Hitler: Those Allies invaded Normandy. Everything pretty much went Downhill from there we might as well call it... Downhill Day or something. Eva: How about D-Day? Hitler: I just lost the French coastline, I'm not in the mood to argue how dumb that sounds.

Fun Fact: there were actually 11 episodes, but only this one (the pilot episode) aired, the rest of them are I'm guessing never going to be found.

It was actually pretty historically accurate imagine if it actually ended and had a historically accurate ending

I guess this show just made audiences too fuhrerious.

So this only gets one episode but Two and Half Men has been on for 11 seasons and still counting.

You got to think about how many people this idea had to go through. And then how many people it took to film eight episodes of this. There were writers, producers, directors, actors, stage hands, some dude holding the boom mic, a craft services table, and none of those people ever thought this was a bad idea

This sounds like something that would be a joke or fake bit in a satirical sketch or movie, but it's real and a stand alone piece. There was also a lost opportunity to put this into a The Man in the High Castle episode

the funniest thing about this show is the concept itself. If they wouldve acknowledged that and just made fun of themselves it probably wouldve been good

My dream is to one day start a TV channel that airs only cancelled TV series like this one.

The show was written by British comedy writer Geoff Atkinson (one of the main writers of Spitting Image) in the 1990s, and is an almost perfect example of a Stealth Parody show. Possibly the most bizarre example of a "reimagining", the series set out to depict Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun living in suburban bliss, with their lives interrupted only by Hitler's dislike for their next door neighbours, an incredibly stereotypical Jewish couple. It was presented to the viewer as a "long lost", "recently rediscovered" 1950s sitcom, parodying and distorting beyond recognition the worst features of such programs (with unnecessary canned applause for every character entrance, hideously vacuous plots and dialogue, and a truly awful title sequence).The show's ultimate intent seemed to be to illustrate and parody the banal, cookie-cutter nature of most shows in this style. If one changed the names of the main characters, along with a couple of lines, the show would be indistinguishable from a genuine post-war sitcom, and the humour is largely derived from the jarring fact that the domestic fool main character just happens to be Hitler. That said, it's hard to see how the premise, originally envisioned as a comedy sketch, would've been maintained over a series of shows.Needless to say, the show proved to be more than controversial. Many found it to be offensive for its trivial attitude towards Nazism, whilst others considered it to be a legitimate comedy along the lines of The Producers and other Third Reich parodies, with the undeniable crassness being an intentional part of the wider stealth parody. And others just thought it was a boring sitcom pastiche that wasn't made funny simply by the fact a guy dressed as Hitler was in it. Eight episodes were commissioned and planned by the now defunct Galaxy channel of the now equally defunct British Satellite Broadcasting network, but only the pilot was ever aired. The show's filming was immediately canceled upon Sky's acquisition of BSB.Despite never being shown again, several episodes were filmed, and have since found their way onto the internet.

I still can't believe someone actually thought of this. And then a television network decided to actually film a pilot.

This is so amazing on so many levels and I don't think the show even realizes why. 25 years too early was all.

I can't believe they cancelled it. This shit is hilarious. And I hate sitcoms in general. I feel like this would have a lot of success on adult swim.

Rick and Morty, through their infinite TV box could find a channel from a universe where Heil Honey I'm Home was a smash hit and has had multiple seasons, maybe even as many as The Simpsons.

This concept might work for a five- to ten-minute comedy sketch, but the gag doesn't work for an entire episode, let alone a full-on series.

I love how the apartment of the Goldensteins is entirely gold. Lot of jokes from that.

Two observations: 1 - How is the premise any worse than Allo! Allo! which also puts Nazis in a sitcom. 2 - That Hitler actor got trapped in the lingerie department with Father Ted. "Its the largest lingerie department in Ireland"!

How was this not an instant classic?!
