That would make for a pretty succesfull webseries if done right. Hits right in the humor of the internet. I think it would still not be for mainstream television anytime soon though.

I watched the pilot, and I can honestly say I would watch a full series on this. Imagine all of the sitcom scenarios done but with those historical figures. The Coworker The protagonist hates but has to be nice too plot line can be done with Stalin. The Disappointed father coming to visit plot can be done with Kaiser Wilhelm II The irritating friend can be Mussolini Maybe an episode with Hitler involving his love of Disney The possibilities are endless, or at least very entertaining, or interesting to think about.

For some reason this reminds me of "That's my Bush". A short run sit-com about George W. Bush in the white house, made by Matt and Trey Parker.

Heil Honey I'm Home was ahead of it's time for sure. Look at comedy now - some of the shit we see in shows like Family Guy and South Park is arguably worse than this. The comedic genius in Heil Honey was too edgy and insensitive for it's time. I thought it was great!

Are you sure the Geico Caveman show wasn't the worst sitcom? Also, I wouldn't mind seeing Heil Honey if it was written well enough, honestly. Someone already mentioned it would be a good web series, which I agree with. Like, 10-15 minutes long sitcom schtick...probably on its own website because I'm sure people would flag it. If done right, it should piss the fuck off of white supremacists.

I kinda found the tid bits kinda funny. I agree with one user, its not 1940 anymore, we should laugh every now and again even when it comes to war criminals. Now days there are just too many SJWs which is why we can't have good comedy anymore. And I was born and raised jewish.

A few years ago there was a German version of The Office, but with the Third Reich as the "business-company"... It was as far as i've heard pretty well received and immensly funny but my German is not that good and there are no subbed versions or English dubs available (yet).

I saw this pilot on RU-vid for the 1st some years ago and loved it. It’s a bit overacted but I still very much enjoyed the innocence of the characters. I see it to be no different than other great topical/controversial sitcoms and movies such as Hogan’s Heroes, Blazing Saddles etc. Lighten up, world.

WW2 sitcom were pretty common in the UK (Dad's Army, 'Allo A'Allo etc), in that context it's not too shocking that this exists.

From what I heard they actually cancelled it midway through the airing of the pilot episode.

To be fair, if it was broadcast like a decade earlier it might have been produced more. There was a huge surge of clever and satirically offensive sitcoms over here, and it is a massively acquired taste that most other nations don't really understand, but those old comedy's are just hilarious.

You may not know how - and I mean in which ways - funny this is to a german^^ There have been so many sketches in german comedy and they all were like "hey is it obvious enough we're kidding? Suuuuperkidding hey hey" and this is like the real thing as far as sitcoms go^^

You should do a video on two TV shows cancelled before the first episode even finished airing. The first one was 1969's Turn-On, a sketch comedy show that's premise was literally that it was produced by a computer and used a Moog synthesizer and only had a white backdrop for a background which aired on February of that year. It wasn't officially canceled midway through the broadcast of the first episode, as ABC itself allowed it to air in it's entirety, but many stations pulled the plug midway, with a Cleveland station canceling it after the first commercial break, and stations in western parts of the US like Seattle and Denver not airing it at all. The only other time a show was cancelled midway that I know about aired 23 years later (and nearly two full years after Heil Honey, I'm Home) in Australia, called Australia's Naughtiest Home Videos, an hour long special of Australia's Funniest Home Videos, itself a spinoff of America's Funniest Home Videos, as the name suggested, it was the same idea as AFV, but with clips previously sent in that were too inappropriate for the family friendly show.

I always get happy when I see these videos in my sub box.

i like when these are about things i learned about when i was in high school starting to use the internet seriously. very aesthetic. heil honey i'm home struck me more as a mockery of sitcom cliche's than satire of hitler. it was the "that's my bush!" of the 90s

Tried watching this with some friends a few years back, and we barely made it halfway through. Like, holy shit were those some badly written jokes.

I was in the audience during the recording of this pilot episode at Bray Studios.

My favorite show which was on that line was God, the Devil, and Bob. To this day, it's probably my favorite adult cartoon.

I imagine the problem is that the show can make Hitler seem relatable to the masses, even in spite of the overtly sarcastic tone. The show is undesirable because of the impact it will have on the way people think.

'Heil Honey' Looks exactly like 'Love Thy Neighbour' a British sitcom made in the 70's and also set in that time about a white couple (the husband is racist) who get new neighbours, they go to greet them and find out they are a black couple. He hates living next to them but also finds out he has to work in the same factory as him as well, the wives become good friends while the husbands are forced to get along. plenty of racist yet surprisingly witty jokes.
