Volvo partnered with China to deploy this technology in Shanghai 2010 expo. Shanghai alone has over 200 of such buses today, it will be interesting to see how the technology is adopted in Europe. fast charging also mean smaller battery, lesser weight and therefore less energy use, this makes it is superior to conventional battery electric buses.

why dun Volvo get into the "trackless tram" game? The Chinese seem to be the only game in town but i can see Volvo making 3 section electric trams 300+ passengers with this charging tech?
