Looking back at this Phil's play looks pretty bad with him going all in when the flush card hits the river... but at the time it wasn't: Back when this originally aired on TV, around 2007-2009, one of the general "rule of thumbs" of poker was: don't be afraid of the flush draw - guys going all in with four to the flush or chasing a flush draw was seen as a tournament poker move at the time because there usually wasn't the proper pot odds for such a play (one in five chance to make your flush and unless its the nut flush draw you might not even be good). Nowadays it is different and why Phil's play looks so bad: if you watch poker streams like Live at the Bike, Hustler Casino Live or The Lodge, or watch the reboot shows of Poker After Dark or High Stakes Poker, there is almost always somebody in every hand playing two suited cards and it seems like everybody chases the flush draws, even when the price isn't good.
Well said. People who had 1000x times more resources and research will criticize pioneers and self made guys like Phil, etc. Sure they had a few books and calculators, but there wasn't charts and RU-vid training courses back then
I can’t believe Phil would make that play right there. That’s always just a call I feel like. What else could Benyamine have right there ?? A set maybe but most of the time he has the flush or a bluff when he’s betting the river. Hell, maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about.
I think it was his ego, he just couldn't take sitting there not winning pots like he does bullying amateurs in tournaments. Here he's playing proper cash game players who have no fear of losing their money, to them this is just another hand and dont give it a second thought, Phil Hellmuth on the other hand cant comprehend his straight getting busted by a raggedy Q3 flush!
Lol. "Nice hand, well played." David was was getting 3 to 1 on the turn with his flush draw, only needed another 1 to 1 on river to break even and Phil shoved for even more.
@@Ohrami How do you mean? Like, he was easily readable? Whatever David did, it worked well to not alert Phil. Looking at pros in anything from the outside is tough because whatever they're doing, it's suited to their current opposition. It might look dumb, but if it worked, it was the right move for that situation against whoever they were facing. If they made a choice luckily, then that can be argued.
@@californiaplant-basedeater2761 Why would I bother explaining an obvious fact to someone who probably plays the game twice a year and has no clue what he's talking about?
Phil think's he gets invited to tv events is because he's the "best poker player" but the reality is he's not even close and the only reason he's on tv is for the blow up's. Unless he knows this and continued on "playing" the roll for more tv time.
Poker is the only sport that really allows you to see a person's true colours give it up for Phil ladies and gentlemen the biggest child in poker what's up Phil did you lose your buzz light-year again 🤣😂
If he could go back to shutting his mouth and being the old Phil he would win again,, HE JUST STFU EVER ,, my goodness Phil go back to the old days of how u think jeezzzzz
No more over rated player than Phil; not sure why he thinks he’s so great. So many players just toy with him and of course being a cry baby makes it that much funnier.
