Hellwig 7626 rear sway bar installation overview / tips on my 1996 Dodge Ram 2500. After putting a truck camper on my truck I had quite a bit of body roll so I decided to try out a Hellwig sway bar after reading some reviews. This video includes some before and after comparison as well.`

Those two bolts by the fuel tank were an absolute nightmare. Also, had to trim the bushings to fit in the upper frame bracket. Overall I will be happy if this helps with my rear sway but I was disappointed that it was not quite as bolt on ready out of the box. My truck had factory holes for the rear sway bar top mounts but the Hellwig bracket holes were not wide enough. With some time and modifications I was able to make this work, and hopefully it functions as intended.

Just found this channel. Great stuff. Love the Ram. Not sure if you still have it. Tundra is cool too. Would love to see more videos on them. Your truck has an 8800 pound gvwr. I'm not sure of your exact weight but I'm thinking payload is in the 2300 pound range. There is a website I can link or swing by a Dodge dealer give your vin and you can get a build sheet. Shows all specific info. Not sure I cared for the set up of that bar at first. Much better in the end without those extra pieces. Take care Greetings from the the 717

I added air bags to my single axle dodge to increase the capacity and one unintentional thing I noticed was that it made a huge difference in the body roll. First time I drove with it I was amazed almost felt like driving a dually. If your still having issues that might be worth looking into.

Air bags! They made my second gen 2500 Cummins truck drivable with a Lance Squire lite on it. It dives so much better with the camper on it through the corners and over rail road tracks. Even empty with 10 PSI takes some of the pot holes shock out of the rear suspension.

Great way to test a sway bar. Too bad it wasn't stiff enough. The bar looked like it was good quality...the linkage looked like China engineering. Wifie has an awesome voice.

From what I was reading, all of their components are made in the US. But who knows. And yeah she really does have a great voice!

Monotube shocks would be a great improvement to take up the slop.

I appreciate the advice. Ended up going with Rancho rs9000xl Shocks. Which after researching. Looks like they are actually a twin tube design. They definitely stiffened up the ride a good amount though. Maybe next time I'll try some monotubes

I got the same swaybar for my 2009 Ford e350, it doesn’t have one so I guess I’ll notice the difference. Question, I’m going to drill holes to install it, should I spray the holes with something to prevent rust or corrosion?

Yeah you will probably notice a huge difference coming from no sway bar for sure. And yes I would suggest coating the holes with a heavy duty grease or waterproof bel-ray grease is what I use. Make sure to measure twice drill once. LOL. Good luck and let me know if it makes that difference you're looking for!

What if you put a jack under the sway bar end and jack it up and go one more hole on the connector bars. Wouldn't that stiffen up your sway bar?

Any idea of what the weight limit is for my 1995 2500? Looking at a camper that's 3300 pounds. 11.5 footer. My truck is long bed single cab with air bags V 10. Have a tranny cooler. Not sure if it's a camper model or not.

That's a little heavy. I had a camper that weighed about 2500 and honestly it made the truck drive really crappy. Ended up getting a smaller truck camper from the 60s. I like it much better

I'm happy with it. Well it did not have a dramatic effect with the backyard test, I do feel it stiffened up the ride with the camper

Looked like it swayed the same amount but after the install it seamed a little stiffer.

Hey man, i hate to break it to you, but you installed this incorrectly. The u bracket should be square underneath the shock mount. You have it floating outside of the mount on the passenger side. You're losing a lot of ridgity like that. Also, that's making your links lose reach. That's why you couldn't grab as many holes as you wanted to. I don't blame ya, the instructions seem to be written by a foreigner. P.s. i have the same exact truck and i just installed this yesterday.

I tried lining these up every which way on my truck. And this way seemed to make the most sense. I also sent pictures and reached out to the manufacturer and this is how they said it was supposed to be. I sent them the final video before posting it live and they said it was proper. anyway that being said, it's been a while since I have messed with this and the truck has been good ever since. It definitely helped out a ton with sway control. Appreciate your concern in either case. If you would like to shoot me a few pictures of what you're talking about that would be cool. @@NoNonsenseKnowHow I'll send on Facebook. I got mine to fit. It was a major bitch though. If they said it's fine, must be fine. They also sent me the wrong sway bar. In the process of figuring that out. The mounts are the same across the board though, i would imagine.
