In this video I share with you how I solved the audio problems I was having with my motorcycle motovlog setup. I am using a Purple Panda lavalier microphone, a new adapter and a DJI Osmo Action 4 camera.

Mate thank you so much for this video. I have just bought the exact same setup as you and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why I had no sound at all until you mentioned having to use the TRS Adapter that comes with the Purple Panda. I was ready to chuck it out of the window until I came across this video. Your audio sounds great and I'm hoping that I can replicate that when the rain finally stops and I can get out on my bike to test it.

Audio sounds good. Once you find the sweet spot, it's great to have one less thing to worry about. I decided to just record separately and sync up when I edit. There's still room for improvement in my overall setup, but it's getting there. Maybe a camera upgrade next year.

It's certainly a relief to find a setup that works! Just have to keep experimenting 👊

Great update and I’m glad you’ve sorted your issue. I have an osmo action 3 and the clipping issue still hasn’t been resolved by DJI. Spoke with customer services yesterday and let’s just say that they were about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Looks like they are concentrating on the OA4. Anyway, that’s not what I wanted to ask you. You’re footage on this vid and your previous one looked to me as if you were in the narrowest dewarp mode but I’m sure you said you were in ultra wide. In ultra wide you should be able to see the whole frontage of the bike/tank and also some of the scenery to the left and right of you. If you’ve got the stabilisation set to rocksteady plus or horizon lock this can crop a bit so have a look at your settings and make sure you’re in ultra wide with rocksteady set.

Hi, thanks for your comment! Sorry you are having issues as well with the audio. It’s incredibly frustrating! I assume you have the input gain pulled right down on the camera? With regards to my viewport, I think it’s to do with the suspension being very firm on this bike. Rocksteady is having to crop quite a lot to keep it smooth. I’ve done manual stabilisation in Premier Pro from my other camera and that removes about 30% of the view. I will double check the settings though 👍🏻
