Jätkäsaari (also known as Busholmen in Swedish) is a district in the southern part of central Helsinki, Finland. Originally, it consisted of Jätkäsaari Island, along with two other islands (Hietasaari and Saukko), and the water areas between them, which have since been filled in. In the 1990s, the Ruoholahti Canal was dug, separating Jätkäsaari from the mainland. The area used to be a busy cargo port and industrial zone, but since 2010, it has been transformed into a predominantly residential neighborhood. Jätkäsaari features a bustling passenger harbor, Länsisatama, with regular ferry connections to Tallinn and St. Petersburg. By 2030, it is estimated that Jätkäsaari will have around 21,000 residents and 6,000 jobs. At the end of 2021, the area already had over 14,000 residents.
Salmisaari (Swedish: Sundholmen) is a small area belonging to the Ruoholahti quarter of the Länsisatama neighborhood in Helsinki, Finland. It was previously an island located west of the Helsinginniemi peninsula. Over time, it has been integrated into the mainland through land reclamation, becoming part of the city center. If you’re interested in activities in the area, the Biitsi Salmisaari beach volleyball and event center offers sauna facilities, meeting spaces, and more.
Ruoholahti (Swedish: Gräsviken, meaning “Grass Bay”) is a vibrant quarter in Helsinki, Finland. It’s part of the Länsisatama neighborhood and the Kampinmalmi district. Here are some key points about Ruoholahti:

The Ruoholahti metro station used to be the western terminus until the Länsimetro extension opened in 2017.
Population and Workplaces:
As of December 2021, Ruoholahti has 2,852 residents and 14,231 jobs.
