Grimaldus is so badass that he saves a princep from dying by _demanding her not to die_

"We saw that Reclusiarch! We all saw that!" "Then you were unfocused on the battle and shall do penance."

"The titans gonna die no matter what 100% dead not gonna live no-" "Stand up" "Oh nvm it's good"

"And then, I shit you not, the absolute madman grabs the pilot, jettisons out of the burning, tumbling wreckage of a stormbird mid air, engages his jump pack last minute and slams down into the city like a sodding comet!" - some guardsman, probably

"This is how princeps die." "This is unacceptable." "It is the truth!" "Then the truth is unacceptable." I really like that line. It emphasizes the Reclusiarch's dogged determination and is a rational statement despite its irrationality. When goal X is greater than all other goals and fact A makes X impossible, then reject A.

I like to think that the transition from black and white, to color for this entire series mirrors Grimaldus's growth. From his spite over being sent to die in Helsreach, to finally accepting his position as the new Reclusiarch. It makes it more fitting.

*Sounds of Blood Ravens salivating at the sight of unguarded war gear*

Every scene with the titan is just fantastically done. It really drives home just how inhuman a princeps becomes in order to pilot such a mighty war machine

I can see TTS Vulkan stepping out. "Hellooooo brothers! We saw you having A SMASHING good time and have come to provide aid. Oh look a GREENSKIN! I wish to BOOOOOP!"

Salamander: "We have come my Brothas to Boop Snoots and Purge Orks.........and we are all out of Snoots."

That Thunderhawk pilot, what an absolute legend! He needs his own series, Richard 😁

When the chaplain looks at you and says "we'll speak of this again brother", you just know you've earned yourself 5 minutes in the pain-glove. :D

The famous point where Grimaldus shouts at a princeps till she comes back from the dead. And of course the arrival of everyone's favorite salamanders. I look forward to seeing Grimaldus almost come to blows with the salamanders over their attempts to always try saving civilians.

Not even sure how I missed this. Literally astonishing work.

Grimaldus, the Reclusiarch who can defeat an Emperor-class Titan machine spirit with force of will, faith and a good dose of stubborness. Grimaldus, the Reclusiarch who would make a Commissar look like a kind father. Grimaldus, the Reclusiarch would knows how to jump out of a Thunderhawk in style.

I know ppl like grimaldus speech to the steel Legion more, or the hero landing scene, but in all honesty, The speech to zahar to bring her back from the dead is absolutely goosebumps fuck-yeah epic!!

Guardsman: "LT, we are NEVER doubting you about reinforcements again!!"

I was not long ago... I have seen it with my own eyes... Richard Boylan became the 1st Primarch of Warhammer 40k animated movies. Blessed by the Emperor himself. Tears rushed into my eyes because I am aware that this Primarch will make the best chapter in our lifetime.

I absolutely love how you've humanized the emperor's children. 1. Despite the fact that they know that they will die when faced with overwhelming odds or the death of their fellows the guardsmen are absolutely hilarious. "Are you still going on about that reinforcement?" Pure Gold. 2. The sheer will of Princeps Zaha of Storms Herald, keeping a promise of war and fatality to Grimaldus, despite having sacrificed her mind, body and soul "You promised me that you would walk" and low the Titan rose from the ash, standing tall, roaring in defiance towards the heavens... Pure Gold. 3. Grimaldus and co. being shaken that one of their number, Kedel had died despite the fact that they know that they will inevitably die in the service to the Imperium. What's even more beautiful is the interaction between them all, they have lost someone who had been with them for so long, that their absence can be felt even in Part 12, but the fact that Kadel's death affected Grimaldus in saving the Thunderhawk pilot, not wanting to see another brother in arms die a meaningless death... whilst doing it in style. Emperor protects those that are worthy. Lord Boylan I implore you continue the good work.

This was amazing. The only thing that bugged me was that they left the fallen behind. This is not something they do if they can avoid it, the armor will be taken back to be repaired and gifted to another new battlebrother. Other than that they would mark the site and bury it for later retrival.

When you ask for reinforcements and you get black templars space marines.

I've only just started to get into 40k in the last few years and I've found that, its the incredible attention to the tiniest details that really resonate within me and drive home the point about how unique and vastly, incomprehensibly more MANLY and inhumanly BADASS warhammer 40k is compared to literally any other fantasy out there. For example, before Grimaldus pulls the Thunderhawk pilot out and saves him, the fact that he is just... unquestioningly immediately ready to sacrifice his life for his brothers, he does this with the same amount of ease as drawing a single breath. Not only this but then the fact that Grimaldus had to literally power down his armor in order to pull him from the cockpit, knowing full well that giving the pilot a direct order to abandon his post would shame and dishonor the pilot beyond belief, and the pilot would likely 100% disobey this order, and Grimaldus understands this and would never do this to one of his brothers, and therefore by disabling his armor, the pilot is now not only going to live, but live with his honor completely intact. Moments like these articulate the fantastically well-done way the authors truly portray astartes as just inconceivably badass gods amongst men that don't place priority on efficiency and survival, but place a much higher priority upon honor, duty, glory, and service to the emperor and their brothers. Another similar moment is when Primus speaks about Kador's death to Nero, and how it is shameful to be slain from behind, capturing the viking-like way in which the Astartes care just as much about dying honorably as well as living honorably.

Helsreach, Death of hope and Astartes will forever be the Holy Trinity of 40k movies/short movies till this day. Gw must acknowledge thier efforts

5:20 I always *loved* the concept of princeps. Physically weak, as of their function, but a strengh of WILL that allows them to literally move mountains. Even when by all accounts, they should lie cold and still.

I love how you show the more human element of the Astartes when they're in the thunderhawk, one's trying to have banter while the other is grieving and wants to be left alone, it's sometimes said that the Astartes can be like machines knowing nothing else but how to fight and kill but there's always the more emotional, human side to them

Nice detail that the more senior members of Grimaldus Squad use Heresy-era jump packs and equipment.

Richard, you blow my mind man! I've been into WarHammer 40K a long, long time. I've NEVER seen anything of this caliber, unless you count the still pictures in the compendiums. Other than that man, your work here is on a level not reached by anyone ever in regards to WarHammer 40K. i never thought Helsreach could be any better. i now stand corrected. So stand tall, when it comes to WarHammer 40K you stand on a level no one has ever attained or will ever attain. Take pride in that and use that Talent to make you some money friend!

This really made my week after going through so much BS I can finally smile and feel in a more Warhammering mood

The "Brace" before that ringing orchestral score where Grimaldus cracks the ground is my favorite part in the whole book besides the last stand in the temple. The animation makes it so epic.

They survived for 30 minutes?!? Good lord!

Still prefer the old "TAKE ON ME" look but this is still awesome.

You've taken one of my favourite moments of Grimauldus refusing to let another brother die needlessly and made it perfectly.

I think I prefer the old black and white style, it maskered the limits of the tools used and gave the scenary and etheral feel that I really enjoyed. The 9th and 10th episode were the best compromise. between how the looks started and this.

Love the silver hair added to the Crone and the look of hate in her face and eyes. Tremendous work. I know you had a skip a lot and there was some parts I am sorry you had to miss but I understand why. This was the best one to date. Just seeing everyone in color and still have some black & white, You've come a long way brother. For Dorn, For the Black Templars, FOR THE EMPEROR, FOR HELSREACH!

I enjoy how daintily that last Assault Marine just plucks off the hatch and drops that grenade in. Also, a shame that Ride of the Valkyries is probably forgotten in the grimdark future of the 41st millennium.

They're just gonna leave precious Mk IV armour behind like an expended las clip? With degraded tech capability that would be criminal negligence in the 40k Imperium.

i love how as the war becomes real, colour and detail increases, a metaphor of astartes life.

It's getting progressively sharper and more colorful each episode. The deeper into war Grimaldus descends, the clearer he sees the world. During bureaucratic preparations, everything is a sketchy blur. But in the midst of the desperate struggle for victory his goals, his sight, his very being is brought to a crystalline focus.

I had just an embarassing moment when I saw the Reclusiarch land. And another much more embarsassing moment when "Reinforcements" was said and the drop pods came. This is so good!

MOTHER OF HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPE! Richard I cannot thank you enough for the work you're doing! This is Warhammer 40,000 Like no one has ever experienced before. The badassery, the bickering, the emotions *and all from Space Marines!* You're doing the Emperors work my good man! And that ending.. NNNNGHHHH!!! Can. Not. Wait!

You continue to do great work. This inspired and awed me. Especially the scene where the Templar forgives his brother space Marine for thinking like an individual. The iron will and fire of Grimaldis. "stand" "there is no need to die today" "I need you. Your brothers need you!" This is truly a work of art and I am lucky to have gotten to bear witness to it.

*"STAND!"* Epic music starts blaring as the Titan rises, goosebumps everywhere man.

The Black Templars waited for a month. WE have waited eons. But the wait was more than worth it. And it QUESTIONS my worthiness to even see something awesome. By the Emperor, it's truly awesome.
