Having grown up watching Jay on late night TV, I never cared for him much. After watching Jay Leno's garage, his interviews and guest appearances, I've grown to appreciate Jay and respect him so much. Generous, wholesome, class, honorable. I hope to be as good of a guy as Jay is at his age.

The three seat layout makes this an astonishingly practical car. I often need to take 2 passengers, rarely 3. 2+2 layouts suck cos the back seat sucks. In a maclaren you can all drive continental. Rowan Atkinson famously used his for pretty much daily driving, and still drives it regularly even after the insane rebuild.

I always love the joy on Doug's face when the throttle is punched.

Late to the party, but the F1 has been my dream car since I was a child and hearing the raw sound of it for the first time in this video literally gave me goosebumps every time he stepped on it and no lie, some tears of joy too. I think the only other sound that hits like this is a fighter jet in full afterburner flyin by at Mach Jesus.

I'm amazed how this car manages to be a complete product of rulebreaking creativity and engineering but also grounded on real life use, with things as two mirrors inside, vents, and a lot of usability.

I love the smile on Doug every time Jay lays on the throttle. I had a rare opportunity to sit in the same seat, in a different F1, 17 years ago. I work as a police officer in Oxnard, CA, and back then the BMW import facility in Oxnard was one of the few places where an F1 could be serviced. I happened to spot an F1 turning into the facility, and I pulled in next to him in my black and white. After a short chit-chat, he invited me for a short ride. Needless to say, I removed my gun belt, tucked my pistol into my waistband, and off we went. Holy lord, what an amazing machine. You should never meet your heroes? Bullshit, that car exceeded my every expectation. Nice review, Mr Demuro.

Thanks Jay! #2 I hope Gordon Murray lets Doug try out the t50 and t33! #3 Doug and Jay both are so good at showing the REAL side of cars, Jay conveys the quirks of owning a car and Doug shows the Door latch that most automotive journalism glosses over and complains about the champagne bubbles or something stupid, instead of just enjoying a car for what it is and bringing us into the cabin with them.

Hello Doug. Nice video, I love this car! Another possible reason why they broke the door glass in 2 was because there wasn't enough package to fully drop it into the door panel. Also, splitting in 2 helps to make the daylight opening bigger by dropping the belt line as much as needed improving outside visibility. The division line is just right, it matches exactly the mirror patch. Awesome.

I think the instruction to check oil level 'immediately' after engine running is to distinguish from most models where one is advised to let the engine cool before checking oil. It doesn't mean to check the oil every time after engine running.

This is a fantastic review. I’m not a super car enthusiast since I may never even get the chance to see or touch some of these vehicles ever in my lifetime. I am a BMW enthusiast and I really love the BMW touches in the gauge symbols the e32 e34 signal stalks. Even the sharp lower dash angle is reminiscent of my e23 7 series and not to mention those air vents are definitely e28 5 series dash vents. I love the drive with Doug and Jay. We need more Doug and Jay videos!

When this video came out it was an event for me: It was morning, I just woke up and was about to eat breakfast, when I saw the notification on my phone I flipped out and watched all the 40 minutes video without eating anything! I was so excited to watch my favorite youtuber doing a review of my favorite car and then being driven by one of the most important car related personalities in existence! What a great moment, it really was a gift, it made my day so much better!

Uber-informative and interesting video. I've long since known of this car -since it first came out and this is also the favorite car ever of one of my brothers. When it came out, it definitely ushered in the truly 'modern age/space age' of modern and awesome car designs: There was nothing like it ever before. The central position of the driving seat is awesome and unique...I also learned a lot more about this car than I had ever known...via this informative video... The closest thing I've ever come to driving/racing this car was on Need For Speed II (the PC game) when it came out in about 1997 -which also included super cars such as the Jaguar XJ220, and the Ferrari F50 among others.

I had an opportunity to work on one. When I saw it for the first time my heart started racing lol. I was 8 years old when I saw this car brand new in magazine. Then later played couple Need For Speed games with F1. Not just it’s a dream to see it in person but it also nostalgia that bring back the memories of the car you cannot ever afford

Jay Leno’s method for saving money, which paycheck to use is unique and so interesting. Loved the organ interview with him. Met him a few times and chatted bikes, cara at the rock store in Malibu Canyon years ago when I was into bikes. Def an interesting guy. Managed to sit in an F-1 when buddy was detailing one here in Santa Barbara 25 years ago. I’d never heard of a 3 seater. Was so cool, especially when you didn’t know much about the car.
