Love my 2015 392. Are there a bunch of cars faster? Absolutely. But there will always be someone with something faster..... You gotta choose your car, and just enjoy it.
But really.. there isn't. Those cars are fast lol. People can say whatever they want. I've seen them stomp mustangs and camaros, I've also seen mustangs and camaros won. They're all the same really. Chargers just 10x more muscle car looking.
For real.. back in the 90s we used to roll around praying for 12s and occasionally someone would roll out a 10 second car and humble everyone. Now days you can buy 12s, 11s, 10 second cars and someone is going to roll a mid single digit car out to ruin your day. There’s always someone faster out there, have to get what you enjoy driving and just enjoy it.
@@Bizzair1990 I've drove them all, they're members in my family that own 10spd. LT1s, GT's, 392s, Hellcats.. Stock -vs- Stock.. the 10spd. Gt's & LT1's do run a decent bit better than the stock Scats do, but.. the Scats are much more comfortable to ride or take on trips and you can take your family out to eat, shopping or just ride around in them.. I'd just as soon drive the Scat.. even tho they're not as quick.. Scats runs plenty.. good.. enough.. for what They are.. I really don't care about who can make it to the end of the 1/4mile.. just a half of a second.. quicker.. than I do anyway!
@@Bizzair1990 I’ve been in a 22 Camaro SS and we pulled 6-8 car lengths on a 21 Scat. There’s a significant difference because the Charger is so heavy!
I got a 2019 challenger scat and the car is perfect. People often compare cars too much and don’t isolate them enough to enjoy what they truly are. It’s a 485HP RWD muscle car that rides smooth, sounds good, with a ton of space. The weight adds to ride quality which since your not racing every second of ownership is more important. And you actually have space to passengers and luggage… AT THE SAME TIME. There’s a reason these have MUCH higher resale value than the competitors.
I just traded in my 2012 SRT8 Charger for a new '22 BMW M550i. The Charger was a great car for me over the last ten years, and I would recommend them to anyone...if you don't mind the cost of fuel. The only troubles I had were replacing two radiators...both covered by warranty. If you're worried about MPG, don't even look at these, but I could get 23-24 on the highway over long trips at 70mph. I was clocked at 4.4 sec to 60 with no launch control, and totally stock...it wasn't available until a year or two later.
These are definitely solid cars.I had the 300 srt8 that I drove cross country with and stomped on it back to back on the track and the times were consistent.only problems I can remember was suspension issues fun cars but these things are gas hogs and brought the hooligan out of me I had to get rid of it lol
I finally subscribed to your channel because all your videos seem like he was beating up on anything Dodge but you finally seem like you truly are a car guy..
This was my dream car. SRT8 charger. I’ve owned twin turbo v6s but I wanted to purchase this car when I turned 40. Fuel prices sky rocketing with a family of 4 killed that plan. 😔
Bought my 2016 scat pack challenger for 32k with 40k miles paid mmx $6k for cam longtube headers mds delete and dyno tune. Currently making 500 wheel which about 560 crank. Getting a stroker next and a whipple still be cheaper then dropping 60k plus on a new scat pack.
I have been converted From a Ford Fanatic about 14 years ago. Traded in my Gorgeous Phantom Black with Radar red 2 tone leather Challenger R/T Plus 6 spd. 17k miles for a 10k mile 15 SRT B5 6spd. 392. The R/T was so retro and perfect affordable very cool practical Pony. The Srt is still practical and extremely Comfortable and pure torque muscle Car in comparison. The brakes are my first consideration when buying any car. So Italian 15.4 Brembos on a Mercedes Luxury Chassis with a now 500 BHP American flat torque curve Hemi is a no brainer. Especially with the best retro looks on the market, 6 sod and classic color. These Challenger Classis Bodies as in HC 6 spd. Or Red Eye 8 sod. Will be future collectibles. I sold my 93 Teal SVT Cobra to the founders of the MCA bitd 04, for thoroughbred judgement book rules. This is my second chance at this game. Not as rare, but feels good to be back into the hobby.
Buy far the Hellcat changed the game as far as power torque etc. But that 392 SRT/SCATPACK change the game as far as a sweet spot and or bang for buck. I don't care about the dark horse or the C8 because MOPAR SET THE BAR PERIOD! All you mustang/chevy guys gonna talk crap call us boats we slow blahzay but truth of the matter is ain't nothing special bout ya'll, and I'm still wearing my yellow bumper guard on my 2020 widebody scatpack challenger, haha! Too bad yo car ain't come with one.
An unpopular opinion I have is that Stellantis is playing everyone with this end of the Hemi V8 rhetoric to whip up a frenzy over these cars. While I do believe the 6.4 and 5.7 are going bye bye I believe they’ll always have a top of the line halo car with some sort of supercharged V8. They already pulled a fast one when they said the 2021 Hellcat Durango will be a one year model and then decided to build them for the 2023 model year.
@@MrM4rvelous wow 😳 Im in the Chicago area and y’all get way more snow than even us. Not sure how you do it lol. I had a first gen Charger SRT8 and even with snow tires it was not ideal with the ground clearance. I take it you use some really good snow tires?
@@Ih8chew I use minerva frost tracks at the moment, a Chinese brand. It's manageable if you know what you're doing consider before all wheel drive and forward wheel drive people were driving big rear wheel drive cars.
Land yacht is probably the most accurate description of Chargers/Challengers lmao I had a 2021 R/T Daytona on order last year but it took WAY too long to get here here in Canada (6+ months), so got a Stinger GT Elite instead. I'm a Mopar guy, and they sound AMAZING, but they're just honestly meh and was much happier with my Stinger instead. Still need sticky tires, track prep and a fairly experienced driver to even launch them properly, which is kinda goofy
I don’t know which charger I should aim for. The Dodge Charger Daytona 392 or Dodge Charger scat pack widebody. I really like both of them but I can’t have both of them. I love the Daytona because of the fog lights, snorkel grille and Daytona decals. I also like the widebody cause of the massive finders all around, red interior seats, and overall look of the widebody. This is going to be my daily so I don’t know which one to choose. Any feedbacks or experiences with any of Charger that I’m trying to choose will be greatly appreciated.
Dodge did say the Hemi is going into the Sunset and there is no return. Sounds like what you're saying is Dodge is going design a new V8. Why would Dodge do that when 5.7 & 6.4 Hemi's sell? Here is exactly what Dodge said: 'The 2023 Dodge Challenger (LA) and Charger (LD) will be the last L-Series cars to offer HEMI power! Dodge CEO, Tim Kuniskis officially announced the news yesterday at the “Current Muscle” event part of Dodge Speed Weeks. “The ’23 model year, Chargers and Challenger will be the last of the HEM-powered L-cars that we build,” Kuniski stated. “And when that window closes, there is NO reopening it. Production ends in December of ’23. You need to get your orders in now, or never. Because when the last HEMI Chargers and Challengers roll off the line at Brampton, its the end of an era.” The Hemi is History as for a new V8, no rumors. Turbo charged C6 rumors are abound.
Next cars will very likely be turbo straight 6 if gas-powered, just as SUVs are moving to. Maybe short of low prod. redeye-tier, which these 392s certainly are.
Much better review. But dodge will not make old school big displacement v8 engines again. Maybe if we're lucky a small displacement v8 with forced induction. But the reality is the v6 hurricane engine. Dodge will not make a NA 6.4 engine ever again.
How Responsive are these TorqueFlite 8HP70 Transmissions On These Scats? The Nag1 Transmissions In Previous Gens Were So So Slow Sluggish Transmissions I Hated Those Things They Made the Hemi's Performance So Slow And Sluggish. There's Nothing Disappointing than to Have a Powerful Engine But A Slow and Sluggish Transmission to Relay all that Power.
Yep just like similar rwd performance vehicles in that arena (Mustang / Camaro) you’re going to see amazing results with a sticky surface and drag radials. Hard to judge them solely on street surface numbers. 🍻
No offense to him but sometimes he has no clue what he’s talking about lol. These are torque monsters so they’re obviously good cars off the line. He probably meant from a roll but he can’t explain himself properly
@@MrM4rvelous are chargers pretty reliable? I have a 2018 supercharged 10 speed 5.0 but I just found out I have twin boys on the way so sadly I will have to trade it in. I want to stay with a American V8 so i decided to go with a hellcat charger.
Hell yeah. Super reliable get one now before they stop making it you'll have your warranty you can buy an extended 5-year warranty if you like my car has been solid. And I bought mine used. Even before that I had a different charger and the only thing I had to replace on that was a sway bar link. So yeah get the charger you're going to sound good you're going to be fast enough you're going to look good you can throw the wife in the passenger seat the kids in the back some groceries and gear in the trunk even get the dog if you have one. And you're going to have a grand old time I also daily drive mine in the winter so I don't know where you live but it is winter capable as well. Honestly it checks all the boxes for me congratulations on the boys
There will be plenty of used ones for decades. I doubt Stellantis will actually try to continue competing with Ford. If you want a muscle car, just get a Mustang. You'll have much better aftermarket support, a better engine that responds well to boost, and they look way better. If you want a family car disguised as a muscle car, get a Jeep and cram a Hemi in it (and forget the fassad of a muscle car.)
I wish I could but I dont have 60k+ I can just throw at a vehicle. Everything is crazy expensive. I greatly enjoyed the v8s I had through the years but it's just not possible for me anymore. Happy for all that can enjoy them 👍👍🤘
@@SamCarLegion very true but unless your mechanically inclined or know the previous driver, who knows how the car was treated. Used ones arent much cheaper now.
@@bobwilson3435 I have a 2015 that has had no issues so far; I've only replaced the brakes (it's heavier than my wife's 2017 pilot 😅). The zf 8 speed is solid, I think the new Supras use zf's also. The motors are great too, some components have been upgraded to avoid the dreaded "hemi tick." It lacks refinement in certain areas, but pretty stress free ownership just over 7 years.
They're not as slow as you think they are. With the proper Tire and a little tinkering with your tune. Seen a lot of mustangs go in the dust behind my mine

@@SamCarLegion all around car. Sports car for cornering and a good daily driver. Straight line speed doesn't matter too much. I just want something over 400hp v8 and handles good. Interior matters aswell like seats and stereo system
I had a challenger wide body scatpack for 6 months and I absolutely loved the car, however it was not practical at all. Terrible gas mileage (8mpg avg for me), expensive, handles poorly, kinda dangerous. I ultimately decided to get rid of it. I am so much more happy now with a car that while it’s only .8 seconds slower in a straight line. But a couple mods easily changes that. Other than that it does everything else so much better all while being $20,000 cheaper. I thought I was a muscle car head but it turns out I really wanted a track car. I’ve been so much happier now.
V8 heads don’t care about in-line 6 at all. It’s all or nothing here.. if dodge dumps the V8 they are turning their backs on their current customer base and praying that BMW fans suddenly want to buy a Dodge. Good luck with that
The outdated MB platform and interiors are an absolute deal breaker for me. It sounds amazing and I see why a father would want it. I’d just rather buy an used M340i or even a 340i.
The current under body barely represents the aged MB platform lol. Sure it derives from that but it isn't the same as when they release in 2005 - I hear this dumb argument all the time lmao.
@@Bizzair1990 platform was tweaked for the Charger but that was almost 10 years ago. It certainly has enough limitations keeping it from being close to a proper sports car like an M340i. Ditch the old MB platform, take a new Alfa platform and pair it with the new hurricane engine (or V8) and ZF8. You’ll have a proper sports sedan that’s way better than the current car.
@@msrr1303 maybe I’ve just been around bmw too long but the interiors have looked the same for more than a decade unless you go from a base model to a top tier variant and that can vary in the same year models 🤷
392 use to be an option as an SRT before the Hellcat. It would provide the adaptive suspension. The “Daytona” 392 is more a premium option. All scatpacks, and 392s ahve the same engine and trans
392 is the engine name (392 cubic inch or 6.4), Scatpack is the trim level. You can get different trim levels with the 392 engine, such as Scatpack, Daytona, SRT, 1320 etc.
I don't know what brought you to this conclusion but the inline 6 hurricane engines are the new cool and the V8s are long gone most likely. I think we could possibly see a V8 in a new sedan/coupe but it is going to be some sort of flagship car most won't be able to afford. I hope I am wrong but based on the way emissions standards are going I am probably not.
@@S8ER I don't but look at what was a SEMA this year along with the crate engines direct connection was showing off. Looks like the base inline 6 will beat the current 392 in HP and torque. I'd rather have my V8 though even if it is "better". Just add too it's honestly not that crazy of move. BMW been doing the inline 6 for years with no issues.
@@TNFLHT yeah it’s just that people who have been on the in-line 6 already have a brand. I honestly can’t see anyone shifting from BMW to Dodge. Sure a turbo 6 can make more power than a naturally aspirated V8, that has been a thing for decades now.
@@S8ER we're on the same team. I hope I am wrong but the writing seems to be on the wall. I honestly think it is not the people at Dodge and more the Dad that Stellantis is.
That's a lie. They have over 500hp. Head over to the performance app page within the uconnect system, slam down to second gear, slam on the gas(on track mode) and you'll see. Personally I've seen my dyno at 512. Info given by the car itself
