Lol, I've been guessing for a couple of weeks now that this was going to be the end of the season. Just how no one had started anything in a while, it's all been general shenanigans or finishing up season-long projects. When he said he had enough iron for the rest of the season, I took that as confirmation.

I’m surprised you guys are ending the season, I really thought all this moon stuff was just a way to segway into 1.18. No more Boatem, Octagon, Big Eyes…. I’m sad 😢.

I feel like it was purposefully left ambiguous up to the very end because they came to the decision at the very end. The season started with we could reload chunks. The Moon story could have ended the season, or one of their plans could have succeed and it just radically changes terrain. Seems plausible they only fully committed to ending the season a few weeks into the Moon story.

I’ve always disliked how hermitcraft seasons would end with a “whimper” instead of a “bang” and hermits would just get burnt out and slow uploads. This definitely ended with a “bang”.

Yeah, S7 was like that. S6 wasn’t too bad because it pretty much ended with Demise and then just a few more episodes to wrap stuff up.

Yeah, but I feel like this season was a little too short. Maybe I’m just used to super seasons like 6 and 7 but only 20-30 episodes doesn’t seem like a lot, and I think they could have done more. Makes me wonder why they decided to end it now?

@@Matt-ce8mr Probably to get a whole new world of 1.18 terrain. Most of the hermits already were very far with their bases, so a reset wasn't too bad in that regard either. And while they wanted to spread out more after the switch to get new terrain, a complete reset would probably make the world look better and make it more fun to experience the new stuff. I think it might also be because of the Hermatrix storyline fitting in well together with a server end along with it being the holiday season. December (and especially the weeks around Christmas) is especially good for RU-vid AdSense, while January is about as bad as you can have. And everybody would probably welcome a few weeks of rest this time of the year and to start renewed in a few weeks. So yeah, my guess is just things fitting nicely together to make it one of the best times to do a big season finally and to transition to an exciting new world.

@@Matt-ce8mr The original intentions were to continue with season 8, just expand past the island with a reset of the world around them. But Mojang messed that up with the world generation so they were forced to start another season if they wanted to use 1.18.

I’m glad for them if this conclusion was also helpful to Hermits with pacing and scheduling a much needed break. None of them should have to deal with pressured burnout.

I only figured out that the animation with the very last mountain was actually the mountain that Iskall made his base on and I only realized that because of the Elephant Crane he made on top of it, the moon crashed in that area giving us a hint to how much might’ve been destroyed

Yeah, I noticed it in the second animation video I watched. Not sure if Iskalls and Ethos base was one of the furthest bases from Botem and the moon landed just right of Botem. All in all Gems base got decimated, was the only base we actually seen the damage caused.

Bittersweet for sure, I was really looking forward to a crazy factory tour episode. I was just thinking the other day, "the season can't be over, Impulse hasn't even started building a roller coaster" lol. Great job this season, Can't wait until season 9.

@@KeitieKalopsia “Excelsior” is Latin, roughly translated as “Ever higher!” Or, as the Great Stan Lee said, “Upward and Onward to Greater Glory!” At the least, it’s a tribute reference, I’d suspect… and there are also several possible homage connections for Pandaros, and Faoláin (and spelling variations in translations) mean Wolf in Gaelic. Overall, an honorable name, more creative than wtf, no offense. If there’s a nod to Marvel’s iconic creator involved-- much Respect to Pandaros Faolin Excelsior.⚔️

While I figured it was coming to an end, it was still painful to see it end. This season has carried me though some really rough areas of my life. But as one good thing ends, a just as wonderful thing begins in it's place. Here's to a wonderful season 9!

What a phenomenal season of HC. Shortest season yet, but just packed with hermit shenanigans, start to finish. My favorite line of the season was probably Grian's "ARE THOSE RAVAGERS?!?" right as the slow falling mass of ravagers hits the ground. I can't wait to see what the hermits do with the awesome terrain changes in 1.18!

I feel bad for those villagers. They got wiped out by the moon. I also feel really bad for poor Timmy. Impulse murdered him and then he spent MONTHS floating in the Void. By a miracle, he floated out, helped out Impulse again, just to be left behind and die to the moon. Also, I'm bummed that this was such a short season. Season 9 has to be two times as good to make up for this.

My only real problem with this abrupt ending to the hermitcraft season is that I seriously love so much of this. Boatem especially, their amazing builds, the swaggon, midnight alley and this factory. And the rivalry/comraderie that the groups have formed has made it such a joy to watch I don't want to go back to square one and have everyone separated or in new groups.

😭😭 I can't the season is over already!! But it was a great episode. But I had a feeling it was going to be done here soon because of how much damage the moon was doing. I am still disappointed.

Such good flash backs of some fun times during the season. An amazing episode to end Season 8 Hermitcraft on. This season was phenomenal for everyone who watched. Impulse I appreciate all the work you, and everyone that works for Hermitcraft! Thank you!!!
