Holy shit Honestly Hexen (and probably Heretic too) are way more fitting of this kind of HD treatment than Doom is (Doom just looks better with the classic sprites tbh).

I played through and beat this game when I was like 10 years old. It took forever and there were many, MANY points where I wasn’t sure what to do next, but after like 3-4 months of playing it regularly, I eventually persevered. I’d love to see a Hexen III. Too bad the IP is owned by Activision.

Awesome! I love Hexen (and Heretic) so much :) I've been wanting a new Hexen game for so long... Imagine what they could do these days... here's hoping. This will keep me busy in the meantime.

Heretic, Hexen, and the insanely difficult Hexen 2 really need a Doom 2016-style reboot. They would look and play brilliantly on modern technology, and it's a shame that these absolute gems have not been given the same treatment that Doom received.

thanks man, pretty much best looking graphics so far, i'm playing also brutal hexen rpg v7.5 with hd textures, bullet time, weather, gore, hq music and some other stuff, and this even looks better when you add bullet time and RPG v7.5 to it...never really finished hexen or heretic, but definitely gonna play and finish now with mods...thanks again, awesome job :)

I owned this on n64 as a child. I didnt beat it till years later on pc as an adult haha. I always got stuck somewhere toward the middled. Thanks for the awesome trip down memory lane. Gg

I used to play Hexen in the DOOMSDAY engine back around....2006 or so? Had all the models turned to 3D. Looked good and was fun too. Wish I still had that old install of it with all the 3D models.

I love this game and still recall fond memories of playing through it with my sister twenty years ago. To this day I still have a desire to relive the gritty, gothic atmosphere and brutal first-person melee combat that made it unique, but with some of the ease-of-use features that have been popularized in the nearly three decades since its initial release. It would be really cool if a group like iD could pick up this title and give it a well deserved makeover a la Doom 2016. Until a talented studio comes along and revives this jewel of a series, I'll just have to make do with Vermintide 2.

I love how there are so many mods for these old classic games. To the point where you can build your own game, in a sense. Might pair this mod loadout with the Heretic HD PBR mods. Ultimate GZDoom collection. Shame there's only the 2xUpscale for Doom and Doom 2. I think there are a few other texture packs, but that being the only one that doesn't butcher the sprites with antialiasing.

Can you give a point-by-point to how to install this? I have GZDoom, etc, and generally would drag and drop files onto the .exe to run, which does not work with the main Hexen HD file. Please advise?

Always loved Hexen, never finished it! :D That looks amazing. Have the monster sprites been remastered as well? They do look a bit more polished but pixelated at the same time.

I would love smooth sprite animations for the enemies (like smoothdoom) along with these mods, already looks amazing.

How do you get all this to work together? I use ZDL to get mods to work together but I cannot get Hexen HD nor the rain mod to work. If I run Hexen HD it just runs it through GZ but I can't load to anything else. Sorry to sound like such an idiot but I've been scratching my head trying to get this to work because it just looks awesome.

Hi, first of all, this setup for Hexen is great, i literally love it! Second, I am struggling to set it up. I got Hexen HD to run, but i couldn't get the sharper neural textures to run with it. Can you give me a hint how to set it up? Cheers!

I love this, but how to get this done. I tried brutal doom once, but I had to install so many mods and didn't know how to get things working properly. Wish someone would make 1 installer.

i noticed that the viewmodel fov seems a bit stretched with this hexen neural texture pack. i can launch hexen hd with no issue and even change the fov freely. looks great, no problem. the issue occurs when i try to run hexen hd with the neural pack. looks great, but i noticed the hud isn't widescreen at all? idk if you got this same issue and didn't notice it or if there was a work around you might have. cheers!
