📝 Today's Show:
Women are not little men! Much of today’s research is performed on cohorts of men and applied across the sexes. From whole body to the cellular level, people born with XX chromosomes are physiologically different than those born with XY chromosomes and those differences play out across the lifespan in health and performance.
Dr. Sims discusses the unique aspects of female physiology and how midlife and the rise and fall of estrogen affects our everyday and competitive performance. In her new book, “LEVEL UP” she presents this research in practical and actionable lifestyle interventions means to take advantage our women’s unique physiology and chemistry.

Thank you so so so much Vonda and Stacy - I am 57, on HRT but just diagnosed with needing a hip replacement but I need to move and put muscle on. It is overwhelming but I really am starting with the basics and will be focussed on our protein and movement within what I can do. You both have an INCREDIBLE story to tell - keep telling it.

I just bought the book, Next Level. I live in SA and we don't have alot of access to this kind of doctors. I have started with lifting heavy sh#t and I do think it is making a difference. But battling with the food concept. I am a believer of the carnivore way of life, so having difficulty "believing" in the plant based eating. Also holding oxilates, etc in mind. But I am going to try it, desperate to loose that belly fat.

I’m 57 and have been lifting heavy and not so heavy since I was 16. My challenge now is, I feel my vertebrae, bones and joints won’t support the weight. My muscles can lift heavy (25lb free weight biceps curls) but my I feel like my ulna and radius are going to crack. I did find out I have osteoporosis in some areas. How do I get the heavy lifting stimulus if my bones won’t support the weight? I need to regain my health and fitness!

A lot of the comments on your Instagram are asking about achieving results for peri women who are not on HRT.

Thanks so much for this. My question is about osteoporosis and osteopenia. My upper back has age-related osteoporosis. I want to lift heavy but back starts hurting. Are there resistance exercises for my body? Thanks.

I find it interesting when talking about mitochondria as this seems to be coming up a lot with the long covid, saying it doesn’t regenerate as quickly. Long covid has affected more women between 40-60 the catchment age for pre and post menopausal women. These women however are suffering from the effects of post viral infections with fatigue being a major contributor. How can these women cope with the fast impact type exercises or attempt to lift heavy.
