How the the U not realize the R was missing?

Whoever the official is that sets the ball down needs to stand over it. Very nearly had a snap with half the crew still conferring 15 yards downfield.

This is why I have grown to love having radios on the field. "Hold up, everyone!" :)

This is CLASSIC. The umpire spots the ball, backs away, and SIGNALS he has 11.... but to WHO? The R is BEHIND him? WHAT ARE WE DOING here?!?!?

Great job by the crew on an uncommon play. As you said, it’s great officiating other than the U should have stood over the ball.

Clearly the H did not think this was intentional grounding. Maybe he thought the QB made a weak, but honest, effort to get the ball to the intended receiver. White Hat responsible for all grounding calls, but doesn't he usually solicit input from the wing? He finally did, but what did the H say? And what's up with the U? What game is he watching?

I'll add that the chain crew needs a hearty rebuke for moving and changing the down marker.

As for the ING foul, great understanding of the rule that he cannot ground it after handing it off.... however I think it really slipped from his hand as he was making a desperate attempt to throw it to the receiver coming back towards it in the lower corner. It was 4th down. Unless he's wrapped up going to the ground, I'm giving him every benefit of the doubt about intent. As a Referee here, I'm going with no foul, turnover on downs, keep it moving.
