I began my section hike along the Appalachian Trail from Rockfish Gap at the entrance to Shenandoah National Park to Harpers Ferry WVA, a journey that will cross state lines, cover the entirety of SNP, complete the Virginia Rollercoaster, and end crossing the river into Harpers Ferry. Today I left my campsite near the Tom Floyd Shelter, I stayed in Campsite 4N and after 26.43 miles I made camp at a tent site near the Rod Hollow Shelter. Today I climbed 5095 feet of elevation gain and 5823 feet of elevation loss. Today was another big mileage day for me, but another downhill day which like i have said really puts a strain on the legs, no blisters or injuries thus far just some tender feet as the rock plate in the Altra is good but you can feel the rocks for sure.
I am carrying a Mystery Ranch Bridger 65 backpack, with a base weight of 28lbs. With food and water my pack was pushing 40lbs each day.
One of the challenges of being my size, 6'9" and 235 all of my stuff is big and with big stuff adds weight regardless of how light you try and make things.
