I wore long socks. THey were practically part of the teachers' "uniform". At my last school, before retiring, cheeky 6th grade girls would pull them down. (Subtle hint about getting with the fashion.)
brits are weird.. long socks are pretty much the norm in italy.. in fact, showing flesh when you're wearing a suit, maybe cross your legs and your short sock has crept down is considered unsightly. short socks are for kids and/or short trousers.. men, especially when in formal attire, wear long socks
