I recently received a notification on my infotainment system warning me that my Hill Start Assist is not working on my Ford Freestyle. I decided to make a video explaining how to resolve this issue and how does Hill Start Assist work on cars (Ford Freestyle).
It has always been a bit of a task to get your manual car in motion on a hill; the dance between the brake and the accelerator pedal is not everyone's cup of tea. And that is where Hill Start Assist comes in to help; in this video, I also explain how the sensor work and how the mechanism helps you have a smooth and successful start on a slope and prevents the car from rolling backwards down the hill.

Hey, I've been following your channel since last month, after actually binge watched all your ford freestyle videos. I bought freestyle just before lockdown and planning for a hill trip once lockdown is over. This is the best ever hill assist video of freestyle I've ever seen. Can you pls demonstrate on downhill? Will the hill assist work on downhills?

It works the same way down hill. Example, your car is facing downhill bit you wish to reverse back instead, put the car into reverse, hold the brake for three seconds, and reverse out. You'll notice that the vehicle does not roll forward. The hill assist works both ways as long as you've got the brakes pressed right and you're in the right directional gear.

The best I can come up with. From time to time the ground may be loose for whatever reason or slick. I have found when I brake to park, if there is any gravel and the wheel slides the least bit while going to park, I get this error every time. I then go about my day and it’s gone when I return to my ford.

Thank you.. Now that you have asked to post our questions, here is one, if you can answer it will really be helpful.. The current models be it top model titanium plus or even flair doesnt come with ford pass, sync 3 or even android auto/apple carplay.. How can we stream youtube, netflix, amazon, colors tv etc on the infotainment.. Like screencast/ mirror cast etc

The Present BSVI Freestyle and Flair T+ do not come with the Sync 3 and hence no Android Auto or Apple Carplay. However, the system that comes in the preset T+ you can stream RU-vid videos. Lastly, Ford Pass is on the present gen Freestyle and Flair.

The passenger seatbelt warning not working is actually a documented bug that Ford has in their oasis console. They're aware of it. Certain builds need that patch applied. I'm glad you noticed yours was affected after servicing.

Had a similar problem on my 2021 F-250 superduty diesel. Problem was resolved by tightening the terminals on moth my batteries.

Hi just saw ur video...thanks for the explanation. Actually this slope was not that steep, so will this Hill assist feature work if you are moving your car let's say in the mall parking which is really very steep. I even saw other videos on youtube and they were saying that this feature is not working as the name suggests and one needs to use the hand brakes on a very steep slope. I am basically concerned about the Hill hold feature in Swift Dzire 2020 model. Kindly explain.....

Definitely freestyle titanium plus is best and it has additional Features like ARP, TCP and HAC. At slightly higher price of Figo titanium blu variant

I had the ESP/Traction control & Hill Assist yellow lights issue three times last month. Couldn't understand why it was coming on instrument cluster & informed Ford people considering it would create safety concerns. But, you are right, it goes away once restart the car. Now, I am understanding this is happening with more Freestyle owners. Ford has to Recall their cars if this is manufacturing defect.

it could do with the weather or it could be a software related issue. ether way in your next service would suggest asking for your format the ECU, this could help get rid if the software bug if any.

Within 3 secs we can easily bring clutch to biting point....and hold the car without slipping back...while driving it's more important to remain calm...let other car honk as much as they can....safety comes first..with hill launch assist also I think without bringing the clutch to biting point u can't move forward...key is clutch biting point....

Than bro I have a ford endeavour been getting this alert for the past 1 month had sent it for service they kept it for 15 days changed some break sensors etc dint help mumbai ford checked with Chennai for assist but yesterday problem reoccurred .today they have called me to reboot the system planning a road trip with family next week is it safe

Hi..can you shed some light on rear seat comfort in long journey of 4-5 hours. Is it similar to i20 and baleno or not?

The rear seats is a bit tight as compared to i20 and baleno, also the boot is very small in comparison to i20, jaz or Baleno so for long journey that another negative point. Long drives are really good in the Freestyle and comfortable, small additions like a dead peddle and an arm rest would make a world of a different.

yes mirror screen for YT videos is available on the system that is on the BSVI freestyle.

I have a Ford ecosport and I am getting the same error that hill assist not available some times and the orange spanner light turns on in the instrument cluster. When the checked at the service centre they said the wiring in the engine bay is week and you have to replace it which will cost me 7k. I want to know from anyone who has experienced this if this is true.

Just restart your car- switch off and then back on the car and the hill assist warning should have gone.

I am SO confused. you were using your Left Foot in the video? Was your foot on the clutch? If so...I am watching the wrong video...cause I have my FIRST automatic Ford...(not happy about driving an automatic transmission), but...I have a NOTICE that HILL ASSIST is not working in my automatic transmission Ford Escape. I want the notice to go away!

Yes. A restart of the car is also a system reboot in a way. It clears temporary errors and moves on.

bro freestyle has too much electronics to sense for ARP TCS & esp etc Every electronic circuit might have error or fails as the years pass on. U don't have to fully depend on electronics to drive a car.
