Very informative! I've been carnivore for 8 months and continue to have digestive, cognitive issues, etc. Added in DAO 15 minutes before each meal and that is a HUGE help. I am learning now which foods and prep methods have the most histamine. Pork Rinds got me too!

Carnivore high histamine foods: Egg whites Pre ground meat Bone broth Yogurt/ kefir Some brands of ghee Seafood Anything piggy Aged or cured meats n fish Tinned meat or fish. Best to stick with fresh steaks or cuts and cook them quickly. Try egg yolks, usually pretty well tolerated. That's about all I can currently eat, until I feel well enough to introduce more foods.

I've been having ALL of the symptoms associated with Histamine intolerance for at least 2 DECADES, worsening about 3 yrs ago. I've been through a mirade of medical examinations and tests, everything came up inconclusive or negative, leaving me with just as many answers afterwards as I had before: NONE! I was already thinking about checking myself into a psychiatric ward, because I started to believe that it was all "just mental" as some doctors have hinted to before. Until just recently I was rushed to the ER with a severe "allergic" reaction (after another test for allergies came up NEGATIVE again, about a month ago) and the ER-doctor was the first doctor IN YEARS who actually sat down and listenend (even though he was quite busy) and was THE FIRST to suggest that everything is due to a histamine intolerance. A..what??? A day later I asked my GP about it and she just gave me a standard-blabla, saying that I DO have allergies and that I should just take Antihistamines for the rest of my life. That was all. Gee thanks! I had to read everything about Histamine intolerance up on the internet and ALL the symptoms of this match the symptoms I've been having for YEARS down to a T! I started crying because I felt so reliefed, knowing that I'm NOT crazy and it is NOT mental! In 3 months I'll get tested for it. I have to wait this long because all the stuff I got in the ER first needs to get out of my system, other ways the test might come up with a false negative result. Had to say Good bye to a numbe of beloved foods and meals and the switch to a histamine-low diet is not that easy. But I'll still do it because I DO NOT want another "free ride" to the ER! And of course I'm hoping that a histamine-low diet will improve my disasterous state of physical and mental health

And there'll be further tests because doctors suspect I might have a fructose intolerance, too *sigh*

Kurt, I have had allergies my whole life. Easier to tell someone what I can eat rather than what I cannot eat. The list is so long. I eat grass fed and organic only mostly protein dye to so many sensitivities. Best test ever is a full spectrum ALCAT blood test. It tests your inflammatory response to everything. Wonderful Test! Everything you listed I eliminated years ago, plus so many other things. I have a huge issue with sensitivities to carbs, veggies, airborn allergens and so forth. I CAN eat beef, bison, and turkey. Cannot eat chicken, fish, seafood, or pork. I Did the elimination diet years ago. Great thing to do. You definitely find out what reaction you have to each individual food. I believe histamine is a giant issue for me. This video is great. Please go down this path further. Would love to see more on this subject. Great video. Thanks

I think this is me!!! I have been feeling like I’m going “downhill” since switching from keto to carnivore six months ago. So many of the things you’re describing! Hives, headache, allergies on crack. And now injury after injury, like even my joints band ligaments are inflamed. Will be trying some kidney for sure and cutting my pork rinds, chops, sausages, bacon and ages cheeses. I also wondered about carbonated water - if they fall in high histamine as well. Seem to be another trigger.

I’ve been dealing with this all my life. Eczema as a child, stomach pain and upsets. My family still talks about the fact I would only eat Campbell’s chicken noodle soup for years as a child. Once I was an adult I had many allergy tests, and the Doctor told me I’m not allergic to any foods, I just have an intolerance to some. His suggestion was to stew, cook fruit so I can eat it and not get sick. That didn’t work. Finally, 5years ago I came across a European article about histamine intolerance. I can clear up my skin and prevent the stomach flu like symptoms if I strictly follow a low histamine diet. I absolutely cannot eat tomatoes, lemons, limes, strawberries. Vinegars also make me very sick, I can’t even use white distilled vinegar.

Hi kurt I've had constant anxiety for as long as i can remember. I'm literally never without it. When it flares up I Can only describe it as if you knew the world was about to end , strong feeling of dread. im 32 and my parents said I've always been anxious even as a child. Its held me back in a lot of things over the years. I've never been on any medication, kept alcohol to a minimum and exercised fairly regular. Theres no stress In my life at all so I can only think it's totally food related Other symptoms that I think are connected - Brain fog Depression Feeling of living in a dream all the time. Dazed feeling Strong sugar cravings Very poor Long and short memory Constant urination Low energy Blood sugar imbalance Little interest in anything at times Asthma Hayfever Regular blocked nose Easily dizzy Random Hot pulses through my full body. Chills and body twitches Blush easily Over emotional Contant Heavy tingling legs. Sensitive to hair spray or aftershave etc Triggers- Exercise Eating most meals Alcohol High carb or sugar Public places Aftershave, air fragrance etc The anxiety always gets worse after nearly all meals I eat without exaggeration. I'm calm and logical by nature so I know it's not just in my head. I ate quite a high sugar and carb heavy diet for years. Decided to try carnivore 3 weeks ago eating only - Bacon Beef Steaks Turkey Beef mince Chicken Lamb Beef dripping. Good amount of fat Himalayan salt within 4 days it had lifted most of the anxiety and low mood symptoms. The feeling was amazing, something I had never felt before, sleep was a lot better etc Then from that point onwards I gradually got worse to the point 2 weeks on where I was living in a contant nightmare ( still strict carnivore). Fight of flight was on full throttle all day every day, worst it's ever been, only a couple hours sleep a night, Leading to depression and totally dazed. I've had to come off carnvore to stabilise but after listening to your video and then reading up in general it sounds like I've had histermine intolerance all my life and I've been feeding my gut all the trigger foods. Just thought I'd mention it to see if you've found out any more info about histermine intolerance since you made the video? And if you can reccomend any other youtube vids of info to read up on? Also if anyone else has been through the same . Apologies about the long message , enjoy watching all your vids btw Thanks Tom

Hi Thomas, Sorry in advance that this is so long! You a young 32 years old. There is always HOPE! It is good that you are searching for answers because they are out there. I literally started searching for answers when I was in High School. Already knew of certain foods that I just had to stay away from completely because they triggered severe migraines. Anaphylactically allergic to any type of alcohol. One sip and I am unconscious. Seriously scary because people don't believe it. I thought debilitating migraines were my issue. Only to find out that sensitivities to odors, perfumes, foods, florescent lights, putting gas in the car, flashing lights, basements, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, foods and the list goes on and on. This all made me feel like a crazy person. Plus everyone around me thought I was a hypochondriac and crazy. Except my Parents. My Mother had a lot of sensitivities. Once I was in my 20s and had been to so many doctors that I lost count. I literally felt like a 90 year old person with brain fog, no short term memory, couldn't sleep, hurt all over and so forth. My list was very long like yours. My doctor that would always do my yearly bloodwork (bloodwork was always good like yours) said to me, "We as physicians cannot solve all of these issues for you. You must do research and figure out what applies to your symptoms. No doctor will do this for you. Research everything to find your cure. You must be your own physician. Because no one will care like you do." Wow!!!! Best advise anyone ever gave to me. This was an eye opener for me. At the time a neurologist had me on a super high dose of a beta blocker for the migraines. Which did not work. Found a doctor that aided in the writing of the original book "The Yeast Connection". I went to see him and he wanted to hospitalize me immediately. I promised to adhere to the strict elimination diet (caveman diet). That's what it was called at the time. Which I did. Never cheated because it was not worth the bad reactions and migraines. Oh it took this doctor almost 2 years to wean me off of the Beta Blocker. Was on a super high dose and only weighed about 100lbs. He said if I stopped taking it, it could cause me to have a heat attack and kill me. Started going through treatment and diet for severe candida. I found out through the elimination diet a large majority of my severe allergies. Kept a very detailed food journal for years. Doc said if anything has more than 3 ingredients do not eat it. Found out I had Anaphylactic allergies as well. For instance, purple hull peas, nearly killed me from an anaphylactic reaction. I remember the first bite and was unconscious for 4 days. Also swollen to where I was not recognizable. My family and friends were horrified and now firm believers that if I say something bothers me. It really bothers me. Your list is so spot on in so many ways. Sensitivities cause us to have symptoms that we just cannot explain. Also found out that I cannot be inside if someone was cooking pinto beans, white beans, pruple hull or black eyed peas. Legumes basically. Instant Migraine and swelling in my face and throat! Try to explain this on New Years Day when most people eat black eyed peas and ham for prosperity. Oh also severely allergic to most grains, cruciferous veggies, legumes, mushrooms, most fruits and all berries, pork, chicken, smoked meat of any kind, fish and seafoods. Had the tests on my back with an allergist. Was allergic to everything including the plastic applicators they used to administer the tests. Have done all kinds of colon cleanses, gallbladder cleanses, liver cleanses and other cleanses too. They helped. Feel better when I fast too. I now Eat organic carefully. Because not all organic things are good due to seasonings and so forth. Along with 100% grassfed beef and bison, which I order from Northstar Bison in Wisconsin. It is a wonderful family owned company that truly cares about their products! One of the best tests that has been incredibly helpful is the ALCAT Tests. A Full complete tests will test you for everything you can think of and more. Your results will come with a book. The book explains where things you are sensitive to are derived from and what products to avoid. It is a blood test and it tests your inflammatory response to so many things. Tests food additives, food colorings, chemicals, fillers in foods and medications, herbs used in supplements, herbal seasonings, every meat and protein you can think of and some you never thought of, every veggie, fruits, medications, antibiotics, over the counter medications, and the list goes on.....THIS TEST TRULY CHANGED MY LIFE!!!! When you eliminate everything that you know for sure is causing an inflammatory response. Wow!!! The body appreciates getting rid of inflammation. It is amazing how much it helps and how many symptoms disappeared. I still have issues. But my migraines are much better. Barely have them now. Still a lot of allergies all of which showed up on my ALCAT results. So now I'm researching Histamine Intolerances. A few lessons learned over the years. Never let anyone pressure you into eating something you know will bother you. Be strong in knowing your system and what triggers negative responses. When offered foods or treats, just say no thank you. Always carry food with you if you get hungry. Be respectful of others opinions about allergies, they don't understand them. It doesn't matter to me if they believe me because I now know my system. It is not my topic of conversation. Most who know me know that I am probably not going to eat their food but will still enjoy the gathering. I always drink bottled water or a bottle of water with a PowerPak in it that I bring. Just part of our own individual make up of who we are and not everyone is going to understand it. But that is OK. Be strong and never stop researching. Because everything you learn is helpful on your path to feeling better and getting healthy.

I've discovered my histamine 2 years ago at my dermatologist. This can be triggered by other diseases or can be genetically like my case . First one can be cured but genetically unfortunately not. Now I know why I didn't eat vegetables as kid they made me sick 🥴 I don't take histamine blockers because they don't help and avoiding foods is only option. Ppl with this need to adapt they're diet. What is working for me perhaps doesn't work for you.For ex I can eat 🍤 but other's can't . I can't tolerate bacon , ground meat, egg whites, all veggies and fruits , smoked meats sausage processed foods some fish , pork rinds, leftovers, cheese, kefir, yoghurt, and list is loooong.... What my doc also mentioned is very catchy this disease because you don't realise what exactly triggers your symptoms because it depends on histamine levels accumulate during the day. If you eat something for breakfast with high levels and have nothing but afternoon eating something low histamine and triggers you think because of that but all together made this and triggered. A bad example sad also if you eat today a slice of pizza and have nothing ohh cool I can eat pizza but eating next day a slice of pizza not leftovers but fresh slice and eat simple like the other day without problem,no it can really trigger next day the same food . I think you understand the point. This disease is like a mask with 1000 faces . In one day you can have skin Problem other with breathing.... Symptoms can include also headaches, skin , breathing problems, stomach burns, nausea, diarrhea or constipation, eyes irritation, chest pains, panic attack, and unfortunately many more . What helps keeping under control for me is eating simple like steak or chicken or yolk ...etc and when I have symptoms I will fast . Usually fasting helps to let the body remove all histamine . Fasting untill next day or at least 12 hours. Alot of ppl have this but doesn't know and are not so many information particularly and exactly about histamine intolerance. Usually comes at package with other allergies too . I have to TBHQ allergy and intolerance at glucose also . All in one body 🥴🥴

I’ve had a histamine intolerance my entire life. Insect bites and stings the size of quarters, severe hives over my entire body and actually go to ER from spider bites. I am allergic to gluten as well as my daughter, I have gone to ER for spider bites and poison oak as well as for chicken pox. Anything that might cause a rash/ bug bite turns into a potential giant medical emergency. I take 2 different kinds of antihistamines daily, 1 Loratadine and 1 Sudafed in the morning and 1 diphenhydramine at night before I go to sleep. That’s how I maintain a normal life and can eat a well balanced diet that doesn’t make me break out and I am still gluten free after all these years because I still break out in hives from gluten even with all the medication I take. I hope you find a way to manage your allergies and be able to live a somewhat normal life.

Hey, thanks for the video. This is a good description of histamine intolerance! I've suffered from H.I. for pretty much of my life. My mom and I both have different symptoms, asthma for me, gastric for her. The threshold / bucket concept is perfect description. Please note, HI is what I call, delayed allergy. My rule of thumb is the sum of my diet over the last 7 days. Do I have enough water? Did I take my small dose of vit. C weekly to fight HI better? (I get my vit C from half a glass of orange juice once a week. Funny thing is oranges are one my killer fruits. Yet I can eat fresh oranges that I plucked at a farm that just literally turned orange)

So I definitely can't overindulge in chocolates, milk, yoghurt, ice cream, peanut butter, fruits, snacks like potato chips. Things with citrus, some form of fermentation or preservation, spiciness are a big NO. Yes, chocs are fermented. Snacks like potato chips are preserved. I just found out about tea and green tea as well (and I love these, god help me). And I can't stress enough... Water intake. There's also a classification of foods that we asians call heaty foods, originating from chinese tcm. It's a similar list. You can't treat each ingredient as the same volume of HI. And different people have different symptoms and tolerance to various foods. You gotta guess the overall sum for YOURSELF. I can eat peanut butter and bread every morning with some milk tea, but that means I get less chocs coz my body is primed with a base level of HI. And always remember, sum of the last 7 days as rule of thumb.

Most beef is aged at least 2 weeks before it is sold, so is high in histamine. Also boiling reduces the histamine in meat. I have seen some people say they boil there beef to reduce the histamine, just don't drink the water as a broth as the histamines are in it.

Thanks for making this video Kurt. Any thoughts on beef? In most cases it's aged, for up to 28 days. This increases the histamine content. Do you think though that this amount doesn't rise as much, as say pork or smoked meat?
@vaska1999
@vaska1999 Год назад
Pork and smoked meat are highest in histamine, yes, but the point is how your body reacts to aged beef. Mine can't handle it without triggering a huge histamine storm, alas. I'm travelling at present and have no access to a source of fresh, immediately frozen beef, and am reacting quite strongly to chicken and even to flash-frozen salmon, so for the time being, and until my histamine intolerance has been resolved, I can't do carnivore. I'm living on eggs, flash-frozen salmon (since I can't subsist on eggs alone for my protein), zucchini, cabbage, onion, garlic, cubanelle peppers, home-made whipped cream. Even on such a severely restricted diet, I'm still getting those typical histamine-caused headaches that feel so different from "normal" headaches, a runny nose, and some itchiness. Had some chicken last night for a change and ended up with my heart racing, a severe headache, and insomnia. Obviously, chicken's out for me now.

Hmmm.... I don't eat any of these foods but still have Histamine problems while being on a Carnivore diet. I'm pretty sure now that a Copper deficiency might be the reason for that. I just learned about the immense importance of Copper in the Human body. Regarding Histamine for example, Copper is needed in the production of the DAO Enzyme and most Carnivores will eventually run into a Copper deficiency due to an overload of Zinc and Iron. Eating more liver didn't really help because although liver is high in Copper, it is of course also high in Iron and Zinc... Just started to supplement with Copper. Let's see how it goes, hope it will help.

@andit4454
@andit4454 3 года назад
@@lokomotive28 here comes a long answer :) First of all, I am in no way an expert in all of this; I just like to research stuff on my own and experiment a bit. So all I can do is share my experiences I had so far. First thing: I don't want to take extra supplements. But I think that after years of having a shitty diet you can become so chronically deficient in some nutrients that it is necessary to supplement. Carnivore diet improved my well being a lot but after some time it wasn't optimal. First thing I changed was eating 1pound of liver a week. If you have access to super fresh organic liver I would even eat some of it raw; everything you need in there and it's delicious :) Then I did some extra research on what deficiencies you might run into when on carnivore and that is what I supplement: Copper (copper bisglycinate), Selenium, Iodine (careful with this one) , Vit. C, Vit. B6 and B9 (I take that extra along with a B-complex) and Manganese. I also take Magnesium und D3, but I think that is something everyone should take regardless of what diet/lifestyle. Since I'm feeling so much better my next plan is to get rid of all supplements and eat more liver and organs in general. Regarding the diet, there is no reason to be so overly dogmatic with what you are doing. If you feel better with incorporating some rice or whatever then do it. I had a short rice phase as well, not any more, maybe the gut, gut bacteria adapting? 🤷🏼‍♂️ At the moment I eat ~1kg of meat every day. About 500gr liver/week; I also have eggs, raw butter, raw milk cheese and I make my own raw milk yogurt. That's about it, meat, liver and milk products. I tolerate that very well, others have to be careful with milk products, gives them constipation because of to much calcium. But I think that eating live Bacteria, fermented food is crucial. I tolerate it very well by now but with Histamine issues fermented stuff becomes a problem of course. Maybe try supplementing with a good super strong Probiotic... Hope this was useful, all the best!

Hey Kurt, new follower, loved the vid! Did you notice symptoms (which kind did you get) when you were on carnivore for a while? It's something I never thought about until I was carnivore for 9 months, and went to London and had some beer and fish, and other meats etc and had a rash on my forearms and horrible runny nose almost a cold type of thing. When I got home and went back to my normal carnivore it went away. I was eating cured meats and cheeses at the time but also have ragweed allergies in the end of summer so it was hard to tell. Rash has not come back since. I even went to Barbados for my honeymoon and had all SAD foods, and alcohol daily for 7 days and didn't get a rash. Not sure if it was a fluke or what happened, but since London I became scared and obsessed with HI. (hypochondriac) you think I'm ok? I have just been doing vacuum packed sealed frozen steaks and seem to be ok. I do at times get Five Guys burgers and seem to be ok, if anything a little runny nose but I think I just get that when eating. I had issued with indigestion and dyspepsia, burpiness, for a while on and off and wasn't sure if it was just a functional thing, or low stomach acid, or HI. I even took betaine and pepsin, helps a little. I've cut out alcohol completely forever now and caffeine is my next step as I heard caffeine blocks DAO too. There was a while I was having 1-2 BANG energy drinks per day being they were 0 carb. All in all I havent sprung to get DOA or kidney supplement yet... figured the gut microbiome changes with carnivore long term so we may be more sensitive after a while. I keep looking for the rash but in the winter in upstate NY its very dry so most likely that if I do get a little itchy
@kurtyaz
@kurtyaz 4 года назад
thanks for the comment Rich! It's tough to say exactly what happened between the two locations. I'd just watch it and see if you can pinpoint a particular food group that was common. I much prefer the real kidney over the supplements. I think the dehydration process probably breaks down that DAO a bit. Not sure but you should be able to get real kidney for very reasonable costs. Awesome to hear about cutting alcohol and I think you're going to really thrive w/ less caffeine for sure. Bangs are tough man, it's a nasty cycle when you're in that caffeine loop and your REM sleep can really suffer from it.

LMK how it goes, that list of issues def could be related, but then again histamine intolerance isn't hugely common so it might also be something else. But it's def worth a shot to see if you feel better IMO.

Robee Rose eating relatively fresh slaughtered meat from a local farm. Avoid any aged food (cures meat and cheese). Avoid milk for a period of time. Maybe try some seafood

Your talking about not putting a band aid on health but that's what ur doing with the carnivore diet. Quercetin is known natural anti histamine but not only that but also an antioxidant . There's Soo much to this and diet is obviously a culprit but it not the only.

Quercetin is a phytoestrogen, it falls into the same group as hormone damaging foods like soy. You really want to treat a body's allergic reaction of high histamine foods and exposure by putting a molecule that disrupts estrogen signaling in your body? How is the Carnivore Diet which removes the causes a "band aid" while eating a phytoestrogen not?

@@kurtyaz bro quercetin isn't a phyto estrogen ? It comes from grains which are but it in itself doesn't do anything but help people that have histamine intolerances. People are commenting on ur video and ur gona reccomend beef and water ? Most people can't get there hands on grass fed beef and that's estrogenic in itself and agree with one thing that we need a balance in our body

@@scottwebb9758 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2693932/ it's 100% a phytoestrogen. You look at the molecular structure. It affects hormones. I wouldn't mess w/ it on a regular basis. My message is WAY bigger than beef and water. It's about eliminating compounds like quercetin and others that are damaging your health and triggering your body. If it helps you, please keep using it. But from a scientific perspective it's absolutely going to affect your hormones if you take large amounts regularly.

Why do u think limiting your food to just meat is gona cure histamine intolerances ? What about proeoletic enzymes ?? Digestive enzymes things like that that are causing food intolerances and inibility to break down proteins carbs etc. Didn't see u addressing any of this in this video

A lot of the high histamine foods come from foods outside of fresh animal foods. You could do low histamine w/out doing Carnivore. But Carnivore gives you all that you need and gives folks a lot of options to lower histamine load from their diet.
