Our NATO Progression got past its last NATO Swedish blocker yesterday actually by Turkey. We will enter in days or weeks probably. Finland is already in.
Oversimplified explanation: Sweden went into Russia after spending far too much time beating Poland Lithuania and Denmark which allowed Russia free reign to besiege Sweden on the northern from. Basically Sweden could only handle one front at a time because of its small population which only meant it had the manpower for 1 front at once. Once Sweden was done in Poland we decided to go after Moscow to try and get the Russians out of the war but they burned their land while we were walking so we went south to join a Cossack ally who we thought had more men than he did. Then we got starved and with out depleted army the Russians after losing plenty of armies just bring up 3 new ones with a disgusting manpower superiority against us at Poltava and crush us. We couldn’t replace such an elite army in either men or training. At Poltava we attacked with 10-20k soldiers against 60k Russians and the Russians had more reserves. And we were even doing well breaking their first line at the early and middle stages of the battle thanks to our superior cavalry and infantry. Our king runs to the Ottoman Empire after losing our only proper army and the rest of the war is just Sweden trying to survive for plenty of years. That’s the short explanation. But we were winning hard the first 5-7 years.
I do agree with him in everything he said in the video that realistically it was impossible to keep our empire together because of low population issue. And I gotta emphasize how great our victory at Narva was. Sweden with 9-10 thousand soldiers (all of the army hadn’t yet arrived) prematurely attacked a entrenched Russian position that was besieging one of our fortresses. This Russian force was between 30-40 thousand men strong far outnumbering the Swedish army and yet the Swedish army suffered below or around 1800 soldier at max while Russia lost around 20 thousand soldiers and all their artillery to us.
