I remember this being on often about that time frame. 70 to 73 or so. I was a kid and didn't understand it then, but it's good to be able to see it now!

William Conrad was on the old time radio. He played sheriff Matt Dillon on the radio show Gunsmoke. When the show was going to television they didn't want William to star or the others from the radio show. So they had to look for all new actors to star in the television show. At first they didn't want James Arness as sheriff Matt Dillon

yep, i heard someone whisper ''Charlie Chan''..and if PM wants to crack skulls, ya gotta admit that there are times when the ''celebrities'' do go on and get a little out of hand..however, PM's approach is much more diplomatic and controlled that Gene Rayburn on MG..i also notice there seems to be a higher caliber of celebs on HS as opposed to MG..i mean, Betty Grable..can't imagine BG sitting through an entire week of MG - or allowing GR to ''spritz'' her at ANY time..i did see an actress from daytime telly practically fall out of her chair to avoid ''the spritz''...

OK Cricket, are you really surprised that someone might make a joke about your name? Did you not go through your entire childhood having your name made fun of? Also, shame on the "star" who might make fun someone's name. My name, while not as "odd" as Cricket, got plenty of joking remarks...and my name isn't obscure at all! I personally think its a cute name fitting a cute A1C.

Actually, if I brought this back, if he wanted to do it again I would bring back Tom Bergerron, who hosted the last version of this show and was well-regarded in that role. I would actually bring it back as a once-a-week, two hour show in a 64-player tournament format: 16 weeks of first and second round matches, first round best 2-of-3, second round best 3-of-5. First and second rounds are worth $5,000 a game each. Four weeks of Round-of-16 matches (two per show) that are best 4-of-7. Each game is worth $12,500 to the winner. Two weeks of Quarterfinals, again best 4-of-7. Each game is worth $31,250 to the winner (bringing total winning to $200,000 for those advancing). Semifinals on the penultimate week, again best 4-of-7. Each game worth $75,000 to the winner (finalists will have won $500,000 total). Final week (three hours): Best 3-of-5 Third Place match, winner of each game gets $50,000. Best 8-of-15 Championship match, winner-take-all for $1,500,000. That's how I bring it back, as a high-stakes tournament.

Michael Strahan hosts the $100,000 Pyramid, so that would be impossible. Since he's not hosting Dancing with the Stars anymore, they could have Tom Bergeron host again
