Love your reactions. Love these guys. Their music has helped me through some really tough times. I'm a true believer that music can save our sanity and bring so many different people together.
Stunning...I think "stunning" is the word you were looking for. The only thing wrong with this one...it was too short. Blows me away every time I hear it.
Yes, this one is a stunner! At least, every time I watch or listen to it, I feel the need to maintain a few moments of silence so as not to break the spell it casts on me.
We enjoy the amazing beatboxing, the great arrangements, their great individual voices, their common decency and respect for others. But every once in a while they do something like this that you simply don't have the adjectives to describe.
And to think this song was actually sung at Woodstock by Crosby Stills and Nash. That's how old it is, but Home Free has breathed a whole new life into this song. The lyrics of this song are phenomenal too. The alliteration with the line of H words, then G words, then W, back to more H words, and then on to groupings of S, and L words, is amazing. Then the play on words and the "numbers" in the chorus. It is pure genius songwriting. Then you add Home Free's angelic voices and fabulous arrangement, and it becomes absolute perfection!
Crosby Stills and Nash were a folk/ rock group in the late 60s and 70s. Truly music at its most complex. The boys nailed it to the wall on this. When I saw it I couldn't believe they would attempt such a complex piece. If David Crosby were alive he would have stood up and shouted "That's it exactly!!" Bravo
Yes I too love the rare occasions when we are blessed to hear our Adam join in to sing. What a masterpiece this is for HomeFree . I love these perfect harmonies. 🥰
He has done that to us a few times in different reactions. I'm always like but I wasn't talking. I know In Austin's Les Misèrables he did and I think he told Tim to hush in one of his videos. 😂😂
I grew up listening to CSN & had their album with this song Helplessly Hoping. Absolutely loved them & their harmonies. This song is full of alliterations. But since I discovered Home Free they more than do justice to all the songs they cover. And this song is perfection to me with the 5 part harmonies. I can't say enough about how great these guys are & humble while still staying respectful to the original song.
One of my favorites of theirs! It’s stunningly beautiful. It was Chance’s baby. He directed it and did it in the black and white. Just amazing. Loved your reaction!
This song is definitely too short! "Freakin' hell", that about sums it up😁. Loved your reaction💖 The first word that came to my mind was precision. The stops & starts by Chance and Rob in the beginning??? Wow!
One of my favorite Crosby, Stills and Nash songs. Home Free absolutely did it justice. Love, Love, Love this one! Thank you so much for reacting. I'd love for you to react to the original by CSN too.
I can't help but listen to this song over and over and over and over etc. So beautiful. The only time I have heard of anyone mentioning that bass note being held forever was in these comments. The job they did was AMAZING!!!!! Loved it. Thank you for another awesome reaction.
So glad you re-uploaded this one! It’s beyond words how this song makes me feel! Those harmonies! The quiet, the building of each part, the black and white video, is incredible! It’s definitely one of my all time favorites from Home Free! In case you didn’t know, Chance directed this one, and I believe it was his suggestion to record this one, I think. I now cannot imagine this never having been recorded by them! Loved your reaction, Lyle! I know exactly how you felt! It touches me and gets me every time I watch it!
What you want to atop a weekly special of our boys are you insane???? :) :) :) We gotta have our boys like we gotta have our David and you deliver them so sweetly. THANK YOU!!!
Their versatility is astounding. Preaching to the choir to even comment to you about our guys because it's obvious you love and appreciate them as much as we do. The technical prowess displayed in this is magnificent. Chance took the reins on this from beginning to end, I believe. His concept for the video, the arrangement etc., and what a job he did. And Adam Rupp should just stop trying to convince everyone he's not a singer. Every voice was like a precious gem. Thanks for the wonderful reaction. Your expression was worth a thousand words.
I loved this reaction from you. You were totally speechless and absolutely moved by the entire performance of the song. That you listened to it twice was such a plus in my book because I can't decide what of theirs is my favorite but it definitely takes a top spot on the list. I could listen to them all over and over again without a hesitation.
Definitely an exquisite 5-part harmony masterpiece. Besides the unbelievable harmonies, getting to hear Adam Rupp's sweet tenor actually singing is such a great treat ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
They are masters at harmonies. They took us all on a journey then. One of my favourites....along with Brothers in Arms...and It's in the Blood...still give me chills.
4 of my favorite HF songs are Chance babies… “Helplessly Hoping”(the extended low note near the end is like a bagpipe drone)…”I Can’t Outrun You “(pure 5 part harmony, and Chance directed the video)…”Cover Me Up”, and “Sea Shanty Medley”. Chance had made them even better than they were before, with his ideas, and his warm voice.
This video I have replayed more than any others. I think it just captures the pureness of their voices above and beyond anything else they could ever perform. And you're seeing a die hard Home Fry here that loves everything they put out. (well, not crazy about the Lego one to be honest) but love everything they do. These beautiful voices are perfection for this song. Wow, is exactly my reaction. I watched another reaction to it by a voice teacher a while back. He was in awe over the way they all "stopped" perfectly together each time. He said that was very, very hard to do. I don't know about the technical stuff, but I know ear candy when I hear it. LOL
A lot of times when I watch a reaction to Home Free I am kinda watching the boys and enjoying the music along with watching the reactor ... this time I spent most of the vid watching YOUR reaction, I knew it would spin you out. This is one of the best, if not the BEST, song they have ever done, the layering, the harmonies, the black and white look and the production, the fact that so many people don't quite realise Tim holds that low note for over 10 seconds, you hear it there but, my god, but to so many it does not register Al ways love your reactions to Home Free and am still jealous that you got to their concert here in Qld, the tickets were sold out by the time I got to looking. And there is plenty of other words you could use but there would go the PG rating LOL
Hopefully they will get back over there before too much longer and you will be able to go to the concert also. I know, Lyle cannot wait for them to get back there to see them again.
I knew and loved the original by CSN, but I had to listen to this cover (upgrade) at least a dozen times to actually get through it without tears - it was so beautiful! Thank you for the re-up. Your reaction was priceless! Well worth it for me!
Hey. Just saw that you are part of what we call the green team. We are watching a movie on discord tonight (Friday USA time) at 9pm central and would live for you to join us if you can. If you're not on Lyles discord there's a link on the community page and if you need help reach out to one of us. 🙂🙂
@@staceysmith8173 Thanks so very much for the invitation, Stacey! I wish I could have met up with ya'll, but I'd already made plans I couldn't change. Hopefully next time? 🤞❤
I really wish they could have talked Adam into doing one of the leads. He has such a beautiful voice but isn't comfortable singing leads (Chris said it's because he wasn't vocally trained like the others) Maybe someday when he's not beat boxing they'll be able to talk him into a small lead like on How Great Thou Art. I love these guys. Best vocal group ever!
@@staceysmith8173 I saw an old interview today where Adam kind of mentioned that the other four were vocally trained and in one video he said he'd never been trained to sing other than in chorus. I wish he realized how many famous people have never been trained. Hell Martina McBride has never had a singing lesson in her life. Adam has such a beautiful voice and blends so well with the others that he should take the lead more often. They do a lot of songs where he's harmonizing instead of beat boxing.
So incredibly moving!! Even after finding them at least two years ago, I still can't believe how wonderful their voices blend, or how amazingly talented they all are! I get chills and get choked up most of the time when listening to them. Thank you!
Yep “Wow” that’s about right Pat! Along with the pause and the very thoughtful and stunned look of course ❤️ My understanding is that Chance brought this to the guys and also did some arrangement, videography and directing of this one as well 🥰
Patrol, this is probably my favorite HF cover ever and yours is probably my favorite reaction to it. It's powerfully sad/moving and your response to it was perfect. You still make me laugh when you "Shhh" the camera between the two plays. That's the funniest way I've seen anyone behave when they realize just how short this song is, but they want more of it. Thanks for reposting and keep up the great work. BTW From your camera set up, you look like you're 7ft-8in (2.3m) tall and should be out raiding coastal villages with your other viking pals (mates). Are you able to confirm this perception? Thanks
Lyle, if you're reading comments on here...if you've not already seen it...'The Beauty and the Bass' just posted a new vid (update on the tadpoles). Amberly mentioned you (as 'Patrol Gaming') when Austin was trying to do an Aussie accent. (Recall she's brought you up in other vids.) Nice that you all have a connection. ;)
@@staceysmith8173 Thanks. I'm aware of Lyle's reaction video and AB (and Amberly's) mentions of Patrol Gaming/Nation (in their 'Beauty and Bass' vids).. Watched Lyle's interview with AB quite some time ago. All good. ;)
I just now watched your video of the behind the scenes making of the video for this song, and I thought, I know I must have watched his original reaction to it, let me go find it. Now I thought I'd seen it before and commented on it, but this is a re-upload so maybe my comment was lost, I don't know. But I love that you went back and did it again, twice through it. That's how I am with a new song I like. No matter if it's a full band or a drum corps performance or a group like this. If I like it, I might listen to it 10 times in a row. It's a great cover from them, no doubt about it. Hauntingly forlorn.
I just wanted to let you know what the boys posted on PATREON, which I think will be made public tomorrow: 'We’re also working on plans for both Europe and Australia for 2023, and will keep everyone updated as those develop.' Time to start checking their social pages for more information.
Not sure if he has read this comment but I am sending to him he will be SO excited. I knew they were planning on going to Europe and am so glad they will be going back to Australia. Thank you so much ❤❤
He did this song already and had it posted on his other channel. He has combined all of his channels so he is moving songs from there to here. Glad you enjoyed it 🙂🙂
