Great setup man. I had Valencia 3 seaters for a long time, and when I sold my old house I was never happier to leave $6000 worth of furniture behind. You could easily fit a huge sectional and a recliner or 3 in that basement, in my opinion that'd be the way to go. I hated not being able to just lay on my side or with the wife without an armrest in between.
@hifihometheater

yeah, feedback like yours is really pushing me towards a sectional. thank you!

I just got the Valencia Luxury Ultimate Oslo seats and I can definitely tell you that they are super supportive and the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in! I have sectional style seating upstairs and have had the traditional couch. For a dedicated home theater, do not cheap out on your seats! I can sit in my Oslos for ongoing hours without any body fatigue, unlike any chairs in the past. If you are uncomfortable, you are not going to spend as much time in your setup.

that's a nice clean set up. i'm building a theater wall myself. in my case i'm flush mounting everything. i like that you put that cooling fan in your rack. i notice the back of your rack is open like its inside another room or closet. that's what it looks like. interesting. my racks i'm building into enclosed cubby holes if you will and for this reason i'm using a lot more cooling fans to keep that air moving. the outer door of your rack looks like it eliminates the need for custom faceplates on your rack. they can get pricey. all around nice set up - good job. i'm going a different direction, but i like what you did. very nice and clean looking. that subwoofer of yours looks like a beast!

Enjoyed the tour. I’ve got 4 theater seats. Thinking I would enjoy a large sofa or theater seats with a lower back. Had to put my back speakers a little higher than desired. Now I’m wondering if I need atmos speakers. Current configuration I feel like I’m in a bubble and I get proper sound effects over my head. When I say proper I’m referring to helicopters and jets and such. I’m sure it’s not as accurate though.

I'm in the process of building my own basement theater with Arendal Sound 1723 bed layer and 1723 S for heights. Im in the process of figuring out how I wanna mount the speakers that go on the wall. These speakers are heavy! I don't know if my mind is playing tricks on me, but I feel nervous even using only (2) 175 lb rated "Wall Driller Plus" drywall anchors. The anchors that came with the speakers are a joke, in my opinion. LOL. With that being said, how did you fasten your wall mounted speakers?
@hifihometheater
@hifihometheater Год назад
Yeah I didn’t even try using the anchors that came with the speakers. I used snap toggle anchors like these TOGGLER SNAPTOGGLE Drywall Anchor with Included Bolts for 1/4-20 Fastener Size; Holds up to 265 pounds Each in 1/2-in Drywall by TOGGLER (20 Pack) a.co/d/8afDqb4

Just the one sub in that Lg room? What’s the specs on the sub? - too bad you can’t enclose the room. Nice setup 👍🏼
@hifihometheater
@hifihometheater Год назад
There are two of them actually. The other one is in the corner on the other side of the front wall. Link to the sub is in the description. I would get more feel if I could close the room off but the pair of them do a heck of a job. The room is about 6000 cubic feet. Not small but not too much for a pair of these subs. Thanks for watching!

Awesome space Brian! Did the support posts conveniently fit where the side surrounds needed to go or was that by design? I still remember your dedicated room and unfinished basement. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts comparing the two.
@hifihometheater
@hifihometheater Год назад
Hey thanks Kevin! I incorporated the support pole locations into the design. The poles are not even equidistant to the front wall so they actually end up in different locations inside the columns. As far as comparing this setup to my dedicated theater, I like this one a lot better. the dedicated theater was just too small to setup the speakers correctly. You need to come check out the new setup!
@ashikhan244
@ashikhan244 Год назад
Looks like an aggressive tow in on the front 2 speakers? Do they need that much?
@hifihometheater
@hifihometheater Год назад
I feel like they do. I think anytime you are dealing with multiple seats you are going to benefit from some tow in. If not, any time you are off to one side or the other, the closer speaker is going to be a lot louder and mess with the imaging. Towing the speakers in so that you are more off axis to the closer speaker but more on axis to the further one helps to remedy that. This is also where having a speaker with good off axis response really helps.

That is a very impressive setup you have there. I am considering purchasing Arendals. I'm having trouble deciding between the 1723 monitors and 1723 towers. Did you have any problems integrating your subs with the towers?
@hifihometheater
@hifihometheater Год назад
Hi Stephen. I do not have any issues integrating the subs with the towers. If you are OK with the monitors on stands and use good subwoofers, I would personally lean towards the monitors and save some money. If you do not like the idea of stands or you have no subs or your subs could use some help, then the towers may make sense. I don't use the towers full range with these Monolith 13 subs, they just cannot keep up. But, I did like using the towers full range when I had the SVS PC2000 Pro's as the bass from the towers could actually supplement those subwoofers. It takes some time setting up though.
@stephenphillips1660
@stephenphillips1660 Год назад
@@hifihometheater Thanks for the response. I really don't want stands, which actually is the main negative I see to getting the monitors. Plus I prefer the look of the towers. I have a pair of HSU 15s. They are very good subs, so I really don't need the bass from the towers.
@hifihometheater
@hifihometheater Год назад
@@stephenphillips1660 it sounds like the towers may be the way to go then. I don’t use the bass from my towers either but it’s nice to have options. Plus I do like how they look. I have no regrets getting towers over the monitors

Your room looks fantastic, but the Arendal deserve a better AVr or Processor. If I were you I would purchase a Processor to replace your Denon.
@hifihometheater
@hifihometheater Год назад
Really? What about the Denon do you feel is lacking? Do you have experience comparing the 3800 to something else? The 3800 replaced a 6700 and I cannot hear any difference in sound quality. It will take a pretty big bump for me to replace the 3800 which puts it lower on the upgrade path list. Some day though. Thanks for watching!

Your room looks fantastic, great job! I'm debating about buying a NAS, this is an area I know very little about so I'm wondering why I couldn't just use a PC with multiple hard disc connected by USB. I probably just need to learn more about the advantages of a NAS.
@hifihometheater
@hifihometheater Год назад
The advantage is redundancy. the ability to use multiple drives in a RAID setup so if you lose a drive, you don't lose all your data. The NAS was a new area for me as well but I don't regret it at all
@mfkhometheater7742
@mfkhometheater7742 Год назад
@@hifihometheater I just watched one video that said USB drives are actually faster than NAS but it seems a lot of people are usig NAS to stream 4K so I have to think they are fast enough. You could probably set up a full size PC with a card inside that's full of USB ports and do a RAID backup on half of them to get the redundancy. So a PC may work but might not be as simple to set up. I guess a NAS is basically a PC that's dedicated to controlling a bunch of hard drives and also being a server so it probably is the best solution.
@hifihometheater
@hifihometheater Год назад
@@mfkhometheater7742 There are ways to setup a PC as a NAS like UNRAID and FREENAS but, like you said, using the Synology is more simple for me.
