Doctor D.S. its struggling for air intake because you fucked up the back pressure. I did this last year using a high performance scooter muffler on one of my husquaverna trimmers and after tinkering with a few things like a larger fuel line that is braided stainless steel, opened up the air intake and installed a multistage/terminal spark plug and put a crossdrilled saw blade and aluminum chain saw blade(2) and I use it on jobs where I'm clearing out high brush/thicket. People ask me a lot "wtf is that?" Lol. Works really good for what I use it for.

It is a custom muffler you know what they say about custom mufflers its the opposite of silent lol

The ideea is great,only one BAD thing you did...you used very thick materials and that will be very overheating after 30 minutes of work,BAD RESULT,good result you get if you are using (maximum) 0.8mm steel sheet,otherwise the muffler will overheat very bad because cannot cool fast enough due the thickness of the materials...consider this as one of my previous experience with a home made (similar type of build) muffler on a chainsaw,great noise reduction (without loosing power) but severe overheat 20 minutes later...the plastic case around started to melt and i stopped the engine and water spray to cooldown the muffler mounting back the original muffler was a better ideea untill i built a new muffler but with thinner materials (this time welded with oxyacethilenic torch),with 0.6mm steel sheet and 0.8mm wall thickness pipe,that was a HUUGE improovement,after 7 years,that muffler still sits on the chainsaw,haven't used since 3 years because i moved on city with rent apartment. But the building ideea is great !

A muffler can be made to make more noise or less

I've never heard anyone say '"let's muffle this thing nice and loud"

@@ksich8142 no. That is maybe the general idea of that a muffler is the box at the end of the exhaust. A muffler is technically a silencer or something to reduce noice. When you are talking about making it louder you are using a resonator made specifically to make the noise louder, as a normal resonator is made to make it less loud.

@@henninghellerud not necessarily as resonators are typically used to muffle the sound at different rpm ranges/frequencies. Usually the louder and faster sound waves are captured by the resonator then the muffler receives the lower end of frequencies

choking the exhaust. the revving at the end of the video was required or it would stall out. I recognize that sound.

@@ronrampfel8226 Should of at least made it a double pass ie.. 2 tubes. Offret would of been a bit different but may of helped out instead of cutting shroud away. Even a side entry would of worked. Mind you, it wont rot out in a hurry lol

Who do you think you're kidding? It's a different noise but those electric trimmers are nearly as loud as the 2-strokes.
