Homemade MRE from CVS 

Yeah everything is getting smaller. A short while back I ordered a Big Buford burger meal and was shocked at it's size! I remember them at Checkers to take 2 hands to pick one of them up....Now they are a little bigger than a Hockey puck.

Shrinkflation is a very real thing. I know a lot of places deny it exists but I see it everywhere these days.

@@dadbudgetadventures Not sure how anyone can deny it. I keep old softsoap containers and just refill them. Noticed the other day that the new ones are 3/4 the ounces of the old one I have, yet it now costs 1.5 times as much as it used to. That's just one example, don't get me started about the number of pieces of Kleenex in a box...

One welch's drink packet mixes with three bottles of Water perfectly. I use a 1 l empty pop bottle to mix mine with cheap drink for a family. It can be stretched to more water. My c v s in ohio rarely has a customer in the parking lot. Nice little stove

Using a Kool aid container, stir in the welcher's drink stick.And three bottles of water. Using a funnel from the dollar tree refill the bottles so they are ready to go. Most of them have vitamin C and the. Root beer flavor is delicious. Much cheaper than fountain drinks At a fast food place. Enjoy

They must rely completely on pharmacy customers picking up something while they wait for the inept staff to fill their prescription.

@@dadbudgetadventures A lot of what's wrong in the store is the fault of terrible corporate policies. The pharmacy staff is pretty hamstrung as to the number of staff and the systems they are provided with. If the local pharmacist was allowed to run the pharmacy you'd see better service.

It is an accepted fact in the convenience store industry what the store is really selling. Many people are willing to pay an average 30% premium to avoid a walk across a large parking lot, cruise around a mega-store, wait in line and hike back to the vehicle. What you pay for, if you choose to, is the ability to park near the store entrance, run in and grab a coffee, a pack of cigabutts, and perhaps a few other small items such as a roll of TP, loaf of bread or a jug of milk and be on your way in a few minutes. My first wonderful Bride and I were close to franchising from a well known chain. We did not like the corporate culture. Franchise owners did not have to put up with all the companies shenanigans. In the end, we chose not to go forward with the opportunity because we kew we would still need some support from from "the system" that was in place.

Don't know if I spoke to your wife but I have dealt with CVS Corporate in Rhode Island and they were always extremely nice people.

That’s one of the things about building these yourself is you have to consider where it’s going to be stored and where it’s going to be used. Things like chocolate have to be considered because in hot weather it’s gonna be nasty.

I try to use those things as little as possible given that I don’t care for artificial sweeteners as a rule. It’s hard to find things I really enjoy when it comes to drink powders.

Yeah this was so much more expensive than it needed to be.

I’m not a huge fan but I get hit with a craving here and there and there’s nothing that can substitute for it.

She agreed with me that it was way too sweet. She didn’t care for it.

I have made an attempt at a couple tuck stops with no luck but I’m going to keep trying.

I did one a little while back from Walmart. I do want to revisit it though and make one that isn’t limited in source.

They certainly have a strong fan base. That’s probably why they made these things, so they can grab that audience.

I’ve tried a couple places like that with no luck but I’m always looking wherever I go now. It’s kinda become my natural rhythm.

I live in Las Vegas, so some of our convince store have morebitems than most. Liquor, wine, beer, olives, etc plus all the little cans of pasta etc. It was just an idea😂 ​@@dadbudgetadventures

The pasta you get pre-cooked on its own is usually pretty firm. Sometimes it can be too firm for what some people are used to. This one was just about right.

I was honestly shocked at how blatantly high their prices were.

@@dadbudgetadventures ive been offended by them for quite a long time. Their business model is absolutely disgusting. They take advantage of customers either in markets where there are very limited options, or their main business is in prescription drugs (who are mostly seniors) and take advantage of convenience sales that go along with it.

To be fair I’ve never been to a pharmacy that seems to have it together. They seem overly complicated for what they are.

I wouldn’t recommend that moon pie for much of anything. The PB pie however, would probably be a good option. Although anything left in a hot car is gonna suffer loss of quality.

Thank you. Unfortunately the things we had as kids don’t really exist at all anymore thanks to all the substitutes in ingredients. It’s nice when they occasionally come out with “original recipe” items and you can at least get a little taste of the past.
