Great review. It’s going to be a legendary accord given that they killed the 2.0T in the 11th gen accord.

Being I traded in my 1.5 for the 2.0t touring, you will never hear me say “get the 1.5 CVT” because of the jerky transmission. The powertrain is wasaaay worth it compared to the sometimes jerky shifts in the city. Even with the 17% decrease in gas mileage on the highway. Now if you only do city driving, this car may not be for you. Gas mileage is horrible in the city unless you absolutely baby the thing and leave plenty of room to time every traffic light perfectly. At that rate, get the 1.5

Great review! I also have a 2019 2.0T Sport. I have 28K miles and still a fun drive to work. My Accord is actually a unicorn with two horns. 2.0T engine and manual transmission. I don't have a Sports Mode, but I do have an Eco mode in which, if actually used, I'd probably get better gas mileage. Before gas prices skyrocketed, I only used premium gas. Now that I sometimes have to use Mid grade, I can at times feel a small amount of vibration during idle. The backseat comfortably seats a Great Dane. So definitely roomy back there. I did have to get a new battery on my last service, but the Honda svc dealer probably got over on me 😂 It's funny how yours came with Michelin tires, which you hated. I thought Michelin was superior. Mines came with Goodyear and man are they ROUGH!! Android Auto is a hit or miss at times and extremely frustrating trying to connect. I also changed out some speakers and added a small box for bass and an amp because the stock sound system is absolute garbage. Outside noise now isn't an issue. My biggest gripe is that the Sports model doesn't also come with side mirrors with the signal lights like the Touring and EX models. I can understand the 1.5 not having them, but come on. There should have been more perks on the 2.0 besides a faster engine and sunroof. I actually test drove a 1.5 manual first. It wasn't slow at all. So I can understand why the 2.0T was discontinued. There are not enough extra perks to justify the sale. My dealer advised me never to sell/trade in my car. I never plan to!I will be that 80 y/o Granny still driving a manual transmission in the future. 😁 Edit: I also have K&N engine and cabin filters installed. Idk about performance, but saves me money when I get my car serviced.

I have a 2021 2T Accord. Mine shifts very nice, indeed. My car is quiet enough for me. The original tires are not for rain or snow/ice. My driver's seat is not comfortable at all. Color matches on outside of car not done well. I get great gas mileage. Over 40 mpg at speeds for me. The biggest drawback is driving fast/aggresively. That eats the gas. Normal driving for me is about 32 mpg average. Controls for car functions can be quite frustrating. There is no automatic stop function button on this car. Sport button really works. Front brakes are noisy and squeak. Dealer says they don't warranty brakes. I say that is the last new car I buy from them. My car is 1-1/2 years old and is worth more than I paid for it new. I am picky. This is the best car I have ever owned. I have had 24 new vehicles in my lifetime.

Paul, you’ve got some nice country roads to drive in. I live in Illinois with much traffic and crummy roads. I’ve got a 2018 EXL , 2.0 with 34,000 miles on it. Like you, I wouldn’t trade it in. Personally think ride and handling is very good. I’ve got the 17” wheels with Michelin Defender T + H tires. Road noise is tolerable but as you said, the original tires sucked ( mine came with Micheline Green x tires, hard rubber compound supposedly for better gas mileage but lousy traction and noisy). Gas mileage isn’t bad, regularly hit 30 mpg overall on trips over 1,000 miles. I’m old and can remember driving my old Ford and thought 20 mpg was good on a trip. I think the hp on that car was about 130, maybe less (small V8 with a ton of pollution crap). Thanks for your nice review and be safe.

I have a '20 Accord Touring 2.0T that I absolutely love. I've been a Honda/Acura fan/owner for the last 37 years. Was planning to replace my '20 with a new '23 but then found out that Honda abandoned the performance variant in the Accord and in the '23 the top engine option is a 204hp hybrid. No thanks. Very disappointed with the new model for dropping the 2.0T. The engine is a gem and I still can't believe Honda isn't using it. But my '20 is a sheer delight to drive. Most of my driving is highway and I've averaged over 31 mpg since I bought it. If I were to drive strictly in town, it would indeed come down significantly. I have no gripes with the 10 speed transmission. Mine shifts smoothly. My only complaints are the lackluster sound system and the small gas tank. But I rarely think about those 2 things simply because driving this car is so much fun.

9:20 It's not just that car, pretty much all 4 cyl turbo engines WILL run better on higher octane. The "87 recommended" etc is a bare min for regulations and most buyers will shy away from any "commuter" car that requires higher octane to function. Problem is these small displacement turbos need the higher octane. If you look at a live ECU map with 87 octane, there is a ton of red and some orange blocks where the ECU is constantly leaning out and pulling timing to avoid knock. 89 is orange with some yellow blocks, 91 is yellow and some green blocks and 93 octane is pretty much solid green across the board. From what Ive seen this is true across almost all brands Ive seen live ECU maps on 1.3-2.5L Turbo engines. Unless its specifically tuned for the higher octane, or have a different mapping for it (like Mazdas Skyactiv Turbo for instance), you wont gain any power per say, but it definitely helps the engine perform as it's designed to and a more enjoyable experience. If you filling up from 1/4 tank or higher the hit at the pump getting 93 isn't that much. $6-7 bucks more to fill it up vs 87. For a car anyway.

I’d recommend the Camry XSE in which ever powertrain you prefer (NA 2.5L, NA V6, or the hybrid 2.5L). The NA’s are mated to an 8 speed auto and the hybrid uses an eCVT auto transmission (same one used in the Prius and is very reliable and smooth). I currently have a ‘13 accord V6 and the transmission is terribly jerky and the engine is screwed up from Honda’s VCM feature they used on their V6s across their line of vehicles (before they moved from V6 to 2.0t in the accord). I put a tuner in it to shut it off and it runs a lot better, but the transmission is still not that great. I’m saving up for a fully loaded Camry XSE NA 2.5L in celestial silver with the two-tone black pano roof. I’ve done lots of research on the car and even test drove it, and I also test drove an ‘18 accord 2.0t. The Camry was much smoother and had pretty good pick up for just a plain 2.5L. So overall, I’d suggest the Camry to you. One more thing, a fully loaded Camry comes with a lot more features and packages than a fully loaded Accord does. Just another plus to getting the Camry instead. Hope this helped with your decision if you haven’t made one already! :)

It’s sad that the 2.0 only made up 10% of Honda sales that’s why it was discontinued the 1.5 has a shifter a lot of people like the cvt cause it’s way better on gas

Cabin noise levels in Honda is higher than most cars. You don't need to go luxury to get a quieter cabin. This is the primary reason I will never buy a Honda again. Secondary reason is they are not built to the standards that used to distinguish Honda from other main stream cars. This is compared to early to mid 80s. Back then, one of the first impressions you would get from getting into a Honda was, "how can they build such a high quality vehicle in this price range"? Not anymore.

Road noise has always been a problem with the Accord. I've owned five V6 Accords. The V6 at full throttle makes a wondrous noise The four cylinders, not so much.

2 things about my "21 Accord 2.0T Sport: - The 10 Speed transmission is at least 2-3 too any gears. - Honda still doesn't let the driver know which tire has pressure issues - Do I have to have guess which of the 4 are low on air? Other than that, it's a fantastic, fun car to drive. Too bad Honda eliminated to 2.0T and went to the CVT transmission. Because of that, my next car will NOT be a Honda.

I would honestly reconsider. Hondas CVTs are really good and reliable. I now own a 2024 Civic Touring with the CVT and I love the car.

The 19-inch wheels looked really good on the 10th Gen. The 2023 accord is wider. Therefore, Honda should have fitted the 11th Gen. with a size 20.

@junkiexl86
@junkiexl86 Год назад
No and you never really want to run less than 91 on a small displacement turbo. Look up the live ECU maps. 87-89 Octane there is nothing but red and orange blocks where the ECU is constantly leaning out and pulling timing to avoid knock. 91 and esp 93 is green across the board. Manufactuers just put "87 recommended" to adhere to regulations, but you really don't want to run anything under 91 with these engines. 1.3 - 2.5L turbos If you get gas from a reputable station (Shell, Exxon, BP etc) they run higher and more advanced additive packages to their "premium" fuels which is a good measure if its a car you plan on keeping for a long time as they will help the engine run smooth and efficient overtime vs just getting 87 everytime, even at a top tier station, but do you need anything higher than 87? No.

Why would you think your fuel pump cares, or even knows what octane the fluid is going thru it???? Its only job is to pump fuel. The computer is going to know.

Feel like someone will say cars aren't supposed to make it to 300k but it was hard for the J's not to hit 300k and that worries me on the 2.0T, if i get one it'll have about 150-160k stock which was fine for a V6 accord or TL

Yeah, they definitely downgraded the new accord. I think it was elevate the TLX. From everything I heard, the TLX is better then the Accord in most ways, but still sucks to be a TLX owner getting your doors blown off by an Accord 😆

My 2019 Touring 2.0T has no shift problems whatsoever. If you floor it a low speed it’s a little slow to downshift but nothing harsh or clunky. Also, that’s in normal or economy mode in sport it shifts quite quick and holds lower gears longer. My biggest complaint is keeping the wheels off curbs. There is no tire protection for the rims . The performance is crazy good. I always fill mine with premium and I can definitely tell it makes more power on 93 octane. It has been researched by several owners and they have dyno proof of + 20 hp and torque which is the same as you would get with a header and low restriction exhaust. Mine also always beats it EPA estimate on fuel mileage. It is horribly loud inside and the Michelin work great in SC . I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee for the snow and ice when and if we see any in my zip code. Michelin’s always balance run quieter than any other brand and if there is a problem they stand behind it. Try getting Goodyear or Bridgestone to make good on a bad tire. Ha! I absolutely love mine and usually trade quite often and had planned on trading this for another Mustang GT Convertible that it replaced but since Ford has decided they are BMW and put whatever price they want on a vehicle and stupid people keep on buying them and paying insane prices. A Ford Mustang GT is not a 60K automobile. A Ford F-150 is NOT a $70K truck. Which, by the way, is the average transaction price on a Ford F-150 currently per Edmunds Automotive. For 70K you could have this Honda in touring trim and a CR-V in touring trim. In 10 years you would still have 2 very good vehicles. You would be on your 3rd or 4th truck due to all the mechanical problems plaguing domestic vehicles and God knows what price you would have to pay in 5 to 10 yrs from now. That’s another feather in Honda’s hat. The totally redesigned 23 Touring is about 2-3k more expensive than the 10th generation. A 2023 Mustang GT convertible is $55-60k and it is exactly the same car as the 2015 that I bought new in 2015 and payed $44K . It stickered for $45K and is the exact same car that costs $55-60k now. Oh, I am sorry, it does have 15 more horsepower and a slightly different hood. I can put premium in my Honda and get 20-25 hp. Mustangs factory rating are using premium fuel even though it will run on 87. It won’t have 450 hp on regular. I have had at least 50 new cars and 4 of them were Honda Accords and I have had 6 or 7 MB’s including a SL500, a S320, E320, E430 AMG Sport Pkg, CLK430 Cabriolet AMG Sport Pkg., C280 Sport. 15:19 15:19 15:19 3 BMW’s, 2 300ZX Twin Turbo’s, 350Z Roadster, Hemi Challenger, a Porsche 911, and by far the Honda’s were the most reliable and least problematic of all. With the exception of the E430 and E320 the Benz’s were by far the most problematic. Think 70’s GM problematic. The BMW’s were only marginally better. The Nissan 300ZTT were great except for the tiny weak clutch and the weak front brake rotors. The clutch and fronts brakes were horrifically undersized for the performance level of that vehicle. Mercedes has the best brakes period. And nothing has the high speed stability of a big Benz. At 150 + mph an S class Benz feels like it’s a slot car. 150+ in a Lexus or Infinity feels like it is on it’s tippy toes. Not so stable and confidence inspiring. Even the mighty 911, which is a wonderful high speed automobile, is not as stable as the Benz. An S-Class Benz can be a lot like the old joke about Jaguars. If you buy a Jag, buy 2 so you’ll have one to drive while the other is in the shop. Or better yet, buy a Honda Accord as the backup. Honda Accords were the service loaner cars at Atlanta Classic Cars which was the MB dealership in Decatur, GA. (Atlanta area)
