We just got this fixed by Honda. They call it motor power inverter. Very expensive, close to 4000 dollars. It cost more then a hybrid battery which we haven't change yet. I will never buy a hybrid car again!!!!. If you buy a hybrid better trade it in before it reaches 100,000 miles

Also there is another quick solution some say if we recharge faulty 12V battery or replace it by new the error code may disappear. This is the exact step that I am currently doing while recharging it and repairing battery. at the end, replacing it new. Finally I am trying to disassemble once more to fix P1440... Geee.. Thought I have saved somehow $50/month x 12 month x 8 years = $4800.... But after all, major issue with IMA. not in warranty period. costing over $6,000 excl. labour. Honda dealer is obviously not willing to provide solutions or any help.

Thank you for watching, I looked up the p0a78 and that code states if no p1437 then replace MPI module. That is the same module I replaced in the video. it is also known as the inverter/converter. original one in the car I worked on was black, updated part that came from Honda was white. from the research I did I dont think you can fix it without replacing the module. I do not have a part number, but what name we were able to give to our Honda dealer was inverter/converter and they were able to find it that way. It is a very common failure in this Hybrid. I appreciate you watching. The 12 volt battery is most likely not going to fix it but before replacing or diagnosing any Hybrid system I always make sure the 12 volt battery is good. @@NutsandBoltswithTone btw, I purchased the battery charger and new battery. Had a long hours to charge it full and used repair mode. But all efforts ended up with in vain. At least I have new battery installed along with recharged old one. No more troubles except for IMA battery charging.

Also took apart IGBT module and waiting for new soldering iron to arrive as old one is not hot enough to melt. Will post more

I've taken several hybrid classes about Toyota and Ford but never any for Honda. Mostly just general knowledge so you don't get hurt.

I am happy you found someone that can repair it for you cheaper, hopefully they have a good warranty and stand behind there work. Would be a bummer to pay all that money and to still have a problem. I am not sure if I did any battery recalibrations with mine. I did do all the reset procedures and relearns so everything is starting fresh. It would not hurt to do a recalibration though. Thank you for the reply. I decided to give. It back to Honda and have them fix it. The mechanic who I had asked only has experience with Toyota. And none with Honda Hybrids. So I decided not to take chance to save $1k. FYI. Honda cost with Diagnosis, repair + parts is $3.4K out the door. Hope this helps some one else. It seems all Honda and Acura hybrids have this issue.

Yeah Honda makes it very confusing. The flow charts call things one name then repair info a different name, then call the dealer for the part and something completely different. Sorry for your trouble. Thanks for watching
