So...what's the price?
@CARmagazineTV
@CARmagazineTV 3 года назад
@@chewybunz The Honda E starts at £27,660 in the UK for the standard car - ours is the Advance model, which comes in at £30,160. Honda's already changed the price of this new car in its first year on sale - which is why we try not to quote the exact RRP in the video... it's a bit of a continuity nightmare, otherwise!

Got a blue Advance Honda e, two weeks ago. At the age of 51 and many fine (and crappy) cars owned, this is by far the best. I love it, dodgy door handle sensors and all !

@IslaSprollie

@@fruitcake4t None thankfully. I love it. The only thing I would change is for the ‘full’ regen to be activated by an extra pull of the up regen paddle, rather than pressing the Single Pedal Control button down near the handbrake. I always have to take my eyes off the road to search for it.

Great review. I purchased an ex-demo with 700 miles for under £24k and it’s just perfect. The range is a problem for some but it’s honestly so much fun to drive, and when it inevitably needs a charge you just plug in a streaming stick into the HDMI port and watch Netflix or Amazon Video.

We'd be inclined to agree with you. While it might have the spirit of a baby Tesla, it does indeed have its own Honda flavour - and it's all the better for it.

Really well made film. This is such a "nearly" car, with the fantastic design and decent drive. But the range is the killer on these, and I think it might explain the ludicrous ex-demo bargains out there for about £10K under the new price. I'm not suggesting it needed Tesla or Kia like longevity; but if it were closer to 150 miles I'd grab one of these in a heartbeat. As it is, the reduced winter range people are seeing in real life is borderline for my current commute and rules out others.

A brilliant Car magazine review. Simply to say drop the comparison with Tesla, the sooner that brand is consigned to the history of mistakes and cons the better! Let the likes of Honda, BMW and VW do the job properly without the likes of Musk 'behind' the false hype. Back to the Honda e, the Mini must be the challenge here.

I don't think that an EV necessarily needs all those screens with touch input, I hope that when the enthusiasm cools down, EVs will have simpler functions and real buttons, I hope someone can bring the charm and simplicity of old cars into a new era

Only 16 year old, pimpled kids, would want a Tesla - or even worse - an Apple badge, on their car. People who were children in the '80s, as you mentioned, are 40+ now, and our age cohort still values engineering and a proper motorcar!!! Give me a Civic Type R any day of the week, twice on a Sunday!!!

Come on CAR, rolling out the old “range anxiety” issue yet again? Really? Precisely how many people regularly drive more than 80miles in one direction these days? Think it’s like a laptop, when you stop, plug the bloody thing in. It’s a top-up philosophy not a fill-up philosophy. I get that that doesn’t work for you trying to pile on the miles for testing, but that’s not how the rest of us use cars.
@CARmagazineTV
@CARmagazineTV 3 года назад
No doubt range anxiety is nowhere near as prevalent as it once was, yet it’s still undeniably a real concern among many drivers. Many of whom aren’t yet ready to make the switch to full EV.

In cold climates, where you would keep your gas tank close to full, range is an issue. If a storm or accidents cause delays, your range will be an issue. That said, if I had this car, it would be for a short commute or errand car. I think it has a place, just not an everything car.

Ah, yes, folks, the Honda hee-hee e... ...This obscenely overpriced, over-teched offering looks like a cross between a batt-pack-shopping-trolley and a doubly concave mobile matchbox. Saleswise, in this country, I predict that it will prove to be a colossal white elephant. It features a boot the size of a postage stamp plus a range just about capable of carrying you twice round the block - ok, make that three times - added to which there's a charging-port lid on the bonnet resembling the top of your nan's commode. Finally (this next bit is tech overload gimmickry gone beserk and then some) we come to a multitude of in-your-face screens stretching would you believe the entire length of the dash, one, wait for it, forming a mock fish tank...I kid you not. Presumably its purpose is in answer to the masses of ev drivers demanding the manufacturer be absolutely sure to provide on the facia fake images of floating perch etc. The only aspect which appeals to me are those innovative door cameras but you pay through the nose and mouth to enjoy their inclusion. [News recently reached me regarding an individual who, apparently murmuring yuck phrases such as 'Cutesy-cutesy-cool' and probably wetting their underwear in the process of viewing the thing, proceeded to put down a deposit to purchase this Japanese runabout. A few weeks following delivery said person went into a motor accessories shop wanting a windscreen wiper for it. The assistant's response was, 'Sounds about right!']

This is an awful car - too expensive, too short-range, too little storage, too slow, too silly-looking. All frills and no balls. The idea that a car with this little range won't give you near constant range anxiety is nonsense as full charged, you can't go further than 35 miles in any direction without needing to think about charging. How much was this guy paid to write this puff piece?
