What a great video. My cruise would randomly drop out. After about two minutes of the cruise switch on and making noise it went in and off a couple times. Ordering a new switch know that this is the problem. Well done, sir!

Hi James. I had my needles off my 06 accord to replace a bulb and my fuel gauge is seriously misbehaving after being put back on. I've tried everything I can think of, including this reset. It just won't stay in a normal range and isn't moving fluidly. Seems to hang up when I turn the key off. Removing the needle and placing it in the correct position doesn't. The pin isn't bent

Hi, I drive a 2010 Accord. My airbag light is on, and I have U0151 - "Lost communication with restraints control module". The gauge control module shows "ERROR 1", which would be F-CAN. I'm also unable to program any keys to my car. Went to a locksmith and a Honda dealer and neither one could do it. I followed the troubleshooting procedures laid out in the Honda service manual. Wiring was good, so the only other things to do is swap the SRS module with a good one, see if that fixes it, and then swap the GCM. Problem is I don't have an another Accord, and I'm not trying to spend a bunch of money getting each unit tested. I will if I have to though. Thanks to whoever reads this

What if I put modules don’t beep on steering wheel? Both radio and cruise not beeping. For a time at least a few buttons were working. Now none.

When I started the test the lights blinked and all the gauges flashed but by screen never said anything. Not ok or no error msg, just all the bulbs lit on the screen. I waited 5 mins?

I took apart my dash recently to put in some sick blue led bulbs to replace the stock white ones. I somehow messed with my needles calibration and they aren’t working properly. I did what the video said and when the gauges were supposed to do their thing the results were very discouraging. Some were way too short in their range of motion and others were too far. Is there a way I can fix this?

I DO NOT recommend this, but I know that some GM gauge needles can be carefully removed and re-positioned. The trick is to know where to move the needle, eg fill the fuel tank and with the key on, the needle should be at full, if not, remove the needle and reinstall in the full position. Often times this works, but not always. I have not done this with Hondas. Proceed at your own risk.

I know 2006-2019 have the test, outside of that range, I don't know.

Error 2 indicates a problem in BCAN. Next step is to check for DTCs. Access to a scan tool will make things easier. If no scan tool, you may be able to retrieve BCAN DTCs using Mode 1 testing. I have a video on Mode 1 testing, it's not the easiest thing to watch. If you find a DTC using Mode 1, you may still need a scan tool to diagnose. HTH.

James Truxal i have a basic scan tool. i scanned the vehicle and it could not find any dtc’s. i checked the codes... there are no fault codes stored in the engine computer.

@@benschwab3592 the scan tool needs to access body electric for DTC's, not engine/FCAN. Some models will show BCAN DTCs through Mode 1 testing. Maybe one of the auto parts stores could access body electric codes for you using their scan tool. The scan tool should also be able to view "Connected Units", the modules that are communicating via BCAN.

Hey i did the test on my 2011 honda and it work just as u said i did because my tachometer and my odometer dnt work but the gauges work on the test but it said error 1 where do i go from there

Error 1 is a problem with F-CAN, the high speed data bus. A scan tool is the next step, check for ECM/PCM codes, diagnose "U" codes (communication) first.

@@scullydun Just for giggles and grins, try another scan tool. Many of the auto parts chains do this for free. Does your scan tool have its own battery or is it powered by the DLC. If your scan tool has its own battery, (it will turn on without being plugged into the DLC), verify pin 16 of the DLC has battery voltage and pins 4 and 5 are ground. If not, find out why and fix, then see if your scan tool communicates. If your scan tool is powered by the DLC, we can assume that the DLC has power and ground. If so, see if your scan tool will communicate with any other module. DTCs here may hint at what or where the FCAN problem is. If the scan tool communicates with everything but the ECM/PCM, check the FCAN circuits between the ECM/PCM and where it ties into the rest of the FCAN data bus. If you can communicate with body modules but no FCAN modules, measure the voltage on pins 6, then 14 of the DLC with the key on. Pin 6 should be about 2.7v, pin 14 should be around 2.2. A scope would be best for viewing data communication and should show serial data switching between 2.5v and 3.5v on pin 6 and 1.5v to 2.5v on pin 14. Steady 2.5v on 6 and 14 show system is awake but not communicating at that time. 0v shows the buss is not on or shorted. If FCAN shows 0v on 6 or 14, turn the key off and connect the scan tool. Unplug an FCAN module and turn the key on and see if you have communication. If you do, the module you unplugged most likely is killing the FCAN data bus. If still no communication, turn the key off and reconnect the module. Repeat the process for each of the other FCAN modules (one at a time). If you find no cause after this, then it’s on to the wiring and connectors. I’d start with the junction (splice) connectors, then any inline connectors, finally the under-dash junction block connectors. If you have no communication with FCAN and body modules, try disconnecting the gauge cluster and see if communication resumes. If so, the gauge module most likely is the culprit. I believe the gauge module is the gateway module connecting FCAN with BCAN. It could take out both serial busses. If this were the case, I’d think you would have a lot of warning lamps on as well as improperly functioning wipers, lights, power windows??? HTH.

@@jamestruxal103 thanks for the information but only thing i have is a basic multimeter and yes my scan is powered by the DLC and everything else works in the car it drives starts ok the problem is just the temperature gauge tachometer odometer and the gear shift indicator

DRL stand for Day Light Running. Look at your mannel locate the fuse and replace and missing the fuse
