Honda 'The Power of Dreams" visits Matt Hänni's Airfield of Dreams! I'm a hard-bitten car buff, and I find this one aiming to become a Fit-Jazz or Integra or Prelude of the skies, a success. Notice the empennage airbrakes, like a mini-BAe 146 (Oh My God, Matt!). And the ghost of the VFW 614 lives on with the over-the-wing engines. Thanks & Cheers, My Friend!

Matt my good friend, great video, & the livery is superb, when honda announced in 2010 I saw their test jet & I really wanted one, being grounded stinks, they came out with production in appx. 2014--15, believe it or not, this jet has a lavatory at the rear on the right side. With the placement of the engines the vibration & noise reduction is greatly reduced, & I believe this jet has been certified for 1 pilot operation, but don't quote me on that, God bless you & D from T & I my brother.

The HondaJet is one of the more unique private planes on the market that can be flown in a single-pilot configuration. And you are also right about the two engines mounted on pylons above the wing. Ja, der gefällt mir auch. Ich habe mich an das ungewöhnliche Design gewöhnt. Dieses bietet auch ganz tolle Vorteile. Die beiden Triebwerke, die auf Pylonen über der Tragfläche montiert sind, reduzieren Lärm und Vibrationen in der Kabine. Es muss ein tolles Flugerlebnis in diesem kleinen Jet sein 🙂 .

The over-wing engine placement helps reduce noise and vibrations in the cabin. It also allowed Honda to increase the cabin size since the rear structural support requirements were reduced compared to a typical rear mounted engine.

Thank you! The HondaJet has classic foot brakes with no automatic system or thrust reverser (weight savings). But they are very effective. The HondaJet is even certified for single pilot operation.

Dan, this information is easy to find online, but I believe it's around 3400 feet (1036m).

@@clearpropcfi3744 no that's a worst case number with some arbitrary safety margin. What's the actual distance in practice. In particular jets seem to post very conservative numbers while the same or worse performing turboprop will claim much shorter runway. also depends on loading. with only a couple of people and half fuel, how short a runway could it actually do.
