So I decided to make this video since there is a service manual for the Forza MF10 floating around, but not for the MF08 (or in any case: I haven't found it)
My forza, total mileage about 60000km, was having some issues with the belt 'skipping' in 6th 'gear' after replacing it (with an aliexpress version, I have to admit)
It didn't give any of the dreaded "F" errors yet, but it felt like it was only a matter of time.
As long as you kept it in 5th 'gear' it had no issues.
Initialy I thought that it was due to the drive pulleys having some wear on them and figured it could be mitigated by using a slightly stronger torque spring ( Polini Blue )
This did mask the issue, but it didn't disappear.
After some searching I figured it needed the S-matic transmission to be reset, but the only available service manual is for the 2008-onwards MF10.
Luckily the procedure is almost the same and very simple:
- Warm up the engine (it does make a difference)
- Turn it off
- Put the scooter on the center stand (the rear wheel WILL turn during the procedure)
- Open the seat and remove the battery cover.
- Remove the dustcap from the black 2 prong connector
- Short the black connector (green-black & brown)
- Make sure the killswitch is in the "On" position
- While keeping the "-" ("S") switch pressed turn on the ignition
- The display should flash "01"
- Fully open the throttle and hold it
- The display should flash "02"
- Release the throttle
- Start the engine (do not touch the throttle)
- The scooter will move the drive pulley while flashing "03" "04" "05" in sequence
- After the "05" flashing wait a few seconds and turn off the scooter
- Done
After performing this procedure the drive belt slipping seems to have been fixed.
The metallic sound at some point is the new clutch bedding in (I think, or it's sound of the engine eating itself)
