As a Rebel 1100DCT owner, I absolutely love the Indian and their looks. The closest Indian Dealership is over 2 hours from me however. Plus, that DCT is such an unbeatable option for me. I work in IT and suffer from Carpal Tunnel frequently in my left hand. So being able to ride without having to squeeze a clutch in the event of a flair up is a god send allowing me to be able to ride more. But if I had the money and a close enough dealer, I would totally buy an Indian Scout as a secondary bike. For me, to have to choose between, the Rebel 1100 takes the cake with it's features, price and good ol' Honda Reliability. Also the familiarity. My first bike was a Rebel 300 and I learned on a Rebel 250 in my Motorcycle Class. But, If I had to choose an Indian. A Chieftain Dark Horse in that Matte White is *chiefs kiss*

I too am a CMX1100 DCT owner (2021) and your comment is absolutely incredible about how close our thoughts are. With a few mods like a Corbin seat, higher bars, and cooler-sounding exhaust, my Rebel is almost perfect. I recently installed the Power Commander Dyno Jet 6 on my bike and performance, balancing, and fuel economy have all improved beyond expectations. Now, the Indian Dark Horse does appeal to me and if that lottery ticket stuck to our frig hits, it'll be a different story...haha Goldwing, with a CVO parked next to it for starters...get my drift?

Love my Rebel 1100. It was my first ever bike and was nice having all the different riding modes to learn on. Full power on, it can take the twistiest roads you throw at it. It is a little more cramped and the stock seat is rough but both can be fixed with a few extra purchases

I spent a bit of time comparing them myself 14 months ago and was two days away from putting money on the Honda. There is just too much that the scout doesn't have (traction control, cruise control and rider modes) that makes a huge difference. Like you I really loved the look of the Scout though and was tempted regardless. Turns out HD announced the Sportster S on the Wednesday and I was at the Harley dealership two days later instead. No regrets at all. Having said that, I would love to see the Sportster S compared to the Indian FTR-S or the Indian Chief. I think for any of those bikes, they are so even that it comes down to styling and ergonomics.

I got really lucky with my Rebel 1100 because that thing sells before it even gets to the island. The Scout is sexy and it is the bike that I wanted. But looking at the specs and seeing all the reviews I’m happy with my Rebel. It’s not a looker but I’ve put lane splitters on, front fairing, and headlight cowl to pimp it out a bit. I transferred from sport bikes to cruisers so it was awkward at first. Even so it’s pretty fun on the twisties. It’s a lifer…I’m keeping this bike till I or it dies. My only complaints is the seat and the amount of bounce the headlight has at night. Wish the tank had a better capacity but other than that…she’s amazing!

Might want to also look into the bikes lean angle too? I’ve done a bit of research on my own and while these and the Harley nightster or fatbob are great competitors also… the nightster and the rebel are marketed as more of a “sport cruiser” with better lean angles but still retaining some of the cruiser style and ergonomics. Just felt that is worth mentioning as they have slightly different target audiences. While both being a cruiser one is more agile and “playful” the other is more style and grunt….

works ok for me for long miles. I don't like riding more than 100ish miles before taking a break anyways. Depending on the conditions, how loaded down I am, and how fast I am going, I can get around 120-150 miles from full to empty with the 3.3 gallons. The gas isn't what is annoying, its the chain... Another factor that should be considered is chain vs belt final drive. While belts aren't as efficient in transferring power from engine to tire, they don't require as much maintenance. It's the big reason why both the Scout and the Harley Nightster feel tempting compared to the Rebel. The Scout, at this point, is the oldest design, so it has fewer features, but it's also by far the best looking (and using the Bobber for your comparison is really unfair here, as that seat and shocks are the worst of the lot for Indian, so the Rogue might have been a better choice to compare). The Nightster is probably the best all-round bike, with the performance and features surpassing both other bikes, but the left side is even more unkempt and hideous as the ugliest parts of the Rebel, and the price is obscene. To be clear: I love all three, I want all three, and I can't justify buying any of them. Any one of them is going to be amazing. Just know what you're getting into.

On my ride home I noticed that the bike DCT transmission was engaging while I was stopped. I ignored the issue hoping that it was an one off. After riding the bike for ~200 miles the DCT transmission engaged again while I was stopped and the bike transmission/power over rode the braking system (Front and Back brakes) and took off. I tried with all of my energy to stop the bike but it wouldn't hold. I ended up crashing into a wall, broke a couple of ribs and my collar bone. I do not know if this has happened to anyone else? So what makes for good brakes? I believe two discs are better than one, but it adds weight and clutter. How about a large diameter disc with 6 pistons? I like to hear my tire when I brake hard. On the dry pavement especially, I listen to the front tire tell me where my braking is. It warns me long before any trouble. I let it speak to me. I attribute that to the fact that I have two discs up front. I figure they average things out. 3 or 4 would be better, I assume, but that would be much clutter, weight, and also a bit weird.

That scout is sexy though. It's really low. I really love the look. I was also looking at a Triumph Rocket R3... its almost double the price...but thats sexy to me also... the price is a factor here. If the money wasn't a thing, as beautiful as the scout look I would go after the Rocket

In the UK getting an Indian is pretty difficult. But even for a sports bike guy, the Indian smashes it on looks and attention to detail and design. However, the dct Honda is super cheap to buy.... The Indian Scout is far more expensive in the UK. For me the DCT model is a clear winner.

yeah, i am confused. i ride a Rebel 500(2019)now, i like the style of the Indian. i sat on one during bike week in Daytona, it was really, really nice. i like the look of the Rebel 1100, just like my Rebel, but more power. i like the weight of the Rebel, water cooled, compared to oil? oh well, when i get ready to get a new bike i'll give them both a better look. oh yeah, price difference, not a lot, but with my finances, Honda wins.

indian scout bobber OR Chief bobber?

I pwn a rebel 500 and just bought the 2024 scout rogue. I know the rebel 500 is not the same league power wise, but its still the same frame and overall feeling (vs the 1100) About everything in the video is true. I prefer the handling of the rebel, but the scout is way better looking. Less leaning angle on the scout which is really annoying. The scout sucks when it comes to instruments: no gas meter, only a stupid gas light, no actual gauge. Rear suspension travel is baaad on the scout, and already kuch better on the rebel (even if its bad compared to so many other bikes. Ther are cruisers tho)

I have a 2022 Scout Bobber ABS, Black Smoke, and love it. Power and torque are awesome, fuel economy sucks (I'm to blame because of the first part of this sentence), handling is good and fairly nimble (I just lift the inside foot off the peg and let the sparks fly), and the styling is beautiful. The stock seat sucks and only survived the ride home from the dealership. I replaced it with an Indian accessory Syndicate Seat that night and love it. The Honda styling is a huge turnoff, I don't get it. To each their own.

If I were in the market for either of these it would absolutely be the Honda. The Polaris just looks cobbled together and after riding it I was really unimpressed with the suspension and rider triangle.
@packgrog
@packgrog Год назад
In what world does the Scout look "cobbled together" compared to the Honda!?! The Scout is the most well-sculpted design of any bike out there, while the Rebel (as much as I like it) is literally a "parts bike"! I can't argue on the awful suspension and awkward rider triangle. Those are definite strikes against the Scout. But in NO way is the Scout the one that looks thrown together!

The conclusion is a bit strange. Better on paper Rebel or more beautiful Scout. Rebel is objectively better tham Scout in more than 50% of cases, so it isn't only on paper. Anyways, it's a personal taste and it's the best if they are tried before deciding. 👍

Nope the India Chief Darkhorse is the winner, i own a Rebell1100, but is becaus of price. I rode the sxout and it was ok, bu the indian Dark horse is just a work of art. Now i teated the Rebell and it gave me way more relax points and it was way cheaper.

I was actually facing this decision at the beginning of 2022, and I came to the same conclusions you did. I'm a bigger (read fatter) rider, so that influenced my choice quite a bit. The Scout had looks going for it. Oh, man, I never thought looks were important to me, but I *felt* like I looked like a badass on the Scout. The Rebel is not bad looking at all, but the Scout just... mmmmm. That's pretty much the only advantage the Scout has going for it, though. The Rebel DCT was under USD $12K out the door (taxes and everything), whereas the Scout was closer to USD $18K. You break down "features" as an advantage of the Rebel, but that's really understating it. The Rebel has Cruise Control standard and the Scout doesn't even have a fuel gauge!!! What sealed it was performance, however. The Rebel's suspension and lean angle are... actually quite decent, though set waaaaay too soft to start with (for my fat ass). The Scout's lean angle is crap, the Bobber's even worse, and the stock suspension is straight up ass. I was bottoming out over small bumps constantly, and it literally hurt. If you are thinking of buying the Scout, factor in at least another USD $800 for a suspension upgrade. Neither of these is really a touring bike. They're naked muscle cruisers. However, I think the Rebel can be made into a decent tourer with upgrades. The stock seat is not comfortable for long rides and you'll need wind protection. The OEM soft saddlebags are surprisingly affordable and good. If I could own multiple bikes and the price was not a problem, I would own a Scout. Feeling like a badass while riding it, illusion or not, is just great. It really nails that. If I had another bike for corner carving, commuting, touring, etc., then the Scout would be a great addition to the garage. Scout + KLR 650 Adventure, maybe? However, as I only have room in my life and budget for a single bike at the moment, I ended up with the Rebel 1100 DCT.

So I rode for years I haven't been on a bike in a little while. Raising kids and a little illness. I've been looking at a bunch of bikes I saw a r18 BMW that was gorgeous it was black. Indian is a nice bike, they have a lot of options that is cool but I can tell you this they are pricey and they remind me of victory. Now how long they'll be around his question and the Honda is tried and true they work like mules.

I don't think the scouts look as good, they have almost a matchbox car look to me. Idk if it's the paint or the chrome, the engine almost looks like it's just painted on. Not sure how it's a winner with the slightly more powerful engine, it also weighs a lot more doesn't it? Maybe I'm biased, I do own a 22 rebel 1100... I did look at the scouts years ago though. I spoke before you mentioned the weight btw, sorry. Also every video and review keeps mentioning "wheelie control mode"... I cannot for the life of me find this on my bike or in the manual or find 1 video actually showing it off. Wondering if it's just for the DCT version but I haven't found that either.
