@@Lenkobi well actually in most countries you can still drive an ICE car on public roads past 2030, it's just that new cars will all have to be electric, so we can still drive on mountain roads
This variant of S2000 was never sold in Japan. It’s an AP2 with the F20C. The Japanese delivered models had an F22C with a lower redline. This car is not JDM.
8:55 honda were very focused on this engine throttle response (no balancing shafts, light flywheel, light pistons etc) masterpiece of R4... Thank you for that video!
@@ra-on6gn it’s crazy how boring some sports cars are tuned out of factory. My dad had a 2013 c63 amg S and it was a super beautiful, fast and amazing sounding car but it’s biggest downside was the paddle shift transmission. It was crazy how much slower it shifted compared to BMW M cars and the downshifts were incredibly conservative, I think if you’re going to make a paddle shifter you need to take out automatic shifts? I understand they do it for reliability and that you can tune it to change this but it was seriously disappointing. Fun date night car but me and my dad laugh 10x with big smiles on our faces when driving my much slower 350hp Evo 6. Raw, gear smashing, tin can, fun
2:10 one of the reasons for the transmission tunnel being so wide is the S2000's "high X bone" chassis, which uses the transmission tunnel and sills as stressed members, which is one of the reasons why it has a stiffer chassis than its competitors. Great video, and those roads look absolutely amazing! I hope to be buying an S2000 soon, and if I do I might have to take a trip down to France for those roads :)
Had 3 mx love em always will, but treated myself to a road legal track S2000 honestly couldn't be happier n appreciate what I've got. You my friend are by far the best at what you do respect from 🇬🇧
😠 please put some respect on the top tier k series 2.0 and k24 mate they put them in every car these days. And let’s not forget about the legendary B SERIES
@@bigguwapbrixks187 that's your opinion, it's still a big reference. You can research whatever you want the best don't more RPM, if it is a question of power to weight with shorter gear ratios that's another topic. The fact is there power specific to liter is 125hp. I like it if you don't live with it.
@@BaruKz bro I owned dc2r, civic ek and now own a k24 accord euro just sayin. Your opinion is yours as well even if I don’t agree with it I gave you my opinion 😎 you said best I said no cause otherwise everyone would be doing f20c motor swaps BUT NO. They don’t. But I also understand how you think mate and all yo used is NUMBERS. Power doesn’t always mean better dude bigger numbers don’t always equal to better performance and Japanese have shown you that time and time again.
Ich liebe dieses Auto. Es ist zwar nicht so schnell aber darum geht es ja auch gar nicht. In diesem Auto geht es um die Leidenschaft und um den puren Spaß.
@@heelandtoe_ you were 100% legal. it is a dotted white line, and only crossing it with clear visibility, so all good. it is when people start crossing it round blind corners that it becomes dangerous.
@@mpanayi1 exactly, as I said, he was not endangering anyone, and I trust his driving skills. The problem is when some people (unexperienced and maybe after watching this kind of videos or old careless people) drive like this on "autopilot" mode, without thinking, and well, there is evidence all over r/idiotsincars and RU-vid of what can happen. I'd rather drive in my lane 100000 times than having an accident 1 time. BUT again, I know he did it when he saw nobody was coming. Anyways, stay safe, enjoy cars and bikes and have a nice one you all lads!!
Was die damals schon für ein schönes Auto gebaut haben😍😍😍, man kann durchaus verstehen dass die Fahrzeuge sehr wertstabil und gut gehandelt werden, der S2000 ist einfach ein geborener Klassiker!
Love your POV driving videos. Every time I watch them, I am holding an imaginary wheel and moving my feet to pretend that i'm modulating brake/throttle applications + changing gears because its so immersive haha. I always thought that the S2000's F20c engine sounds less raspy than the K series and B series Civic engines, and your video has reinforced my viewpoint again. Keep up the great work and looking forward to your future videos 👍🏼
@@sandorcsurgay8003 in Europe and GB we never got the F22C and all our cars have chassis code Ap1 even after the restyling. Besides I think even the redline in the tachometer is lower in the Ap2.
@@massimilianozeni1848 I had an AP1 and there is no fuel gauge and water temperature on the dash next to the rev counter, I know about the rev limit, 9200 drop to 8200, andthe gearing, in 2006 the drive-by-wire system removed the throttle cable and replaced it with electric system, the gearing is completely different. AP1 models have a lot longer gears, resulting higher top speed and longer pull, AP1 suspension is stiffer, AP1 is a bit lighter as well, MAYBE this is an AP1 but with a different dash than early models, but I always thought this is an AP2 dash, but I can see he have 9k redline so... I guess this. But I really love this car, and will buy an other AP1, and will drive the shit out of it as before, and other people can keep it inside, this car need to scream :)
Great video of a great car right in its favorite environment! My critique would be lack of forward view due to camera angle. A few more degrees up would have been much more fun for viewers. I am lucky enough to own one , I'm waiting for better weather to get her back onto the road again. Cheers.
Been looking for a good Touge vid for quite a while. To bad this camera angle almost killed the video. Hope to see more of its kind in the future! Sheers
Wow!After seeing you driving the exige, the alpine etc I didn t think you could come out with my car s review! Very interesting to know your point of view. Did you like the steering ? Brakes? Is the Alpine much faster than an S2000?
Never been on Touge in my RHD s2k . Is very annoying if there is any traffic. I use my LHD Prelude for this. And not too many people know but is just as good even if is FWD
This video almost makes me regret getting an E36 M3 over the S2k. Went to buy an S2K, but the seller pulled out the night before, so bought an M3 instead
@@justanothertroll9205 Yeah, maybe i'll get one to replace my M3 with. Only thing is, they are so rare to get a hold of here in Sweden. It was about 1,5 years since I missed out on that deal, and there has not been one for sale to my liking since. I want a euro ap2 (with ap1 engine) - Low mileage, sold in sweden new, with factory hardtop are my criterias, and there hasnt been one that has matched that in 18 months, so...
@@Doggepp look in other countries. I have Ap1 Gt (oem hardtop) bought from UK. RHD . I was working driver in Uk so it doesn't matter is RHD for me. It was very cheap and is stock. I recommend to look in countries like Netherlands for example. I think they are the most and cheapest in Europe except Germany. But i wouldn't trust those car dealers in Germany. They lie about milleage and 80 percent of them are imigrants . I have a guy on fb from Netherlands that sold many of them since i know him . Also sells OEM new parts and repair issues in his shop. Very good with s2000s
I'm sorry, but I couldn't make it past "Do you rev it high?" and "When does the VTEC kick in?" in the first few minutes of the video. If you don't know it and don't feel it, you don't know how to drive it and shouldn't do a "review" video of it until you get the hang of it. Especially an AP1 with a 9k redline
@@audioamateur this isn't exactly a "new car review" here. A POV drive, a "my first time driving...", what have you, sure. But a lack of knowledge on a car released over 20 years ago? A "review" it is not.
It seems like you're not driving the s2000 like it was intended to. It seems that you're always out of Vtec or the power band. You need to keep her above 6k RPM at all times.
It looks like he never reved it much over 8k rpm. I guess people have instinct to shift at lower rpms. Once one of my friends driven my modified civic type r with 8,5krpm redline, he never went above 7 or 7,5 krpm no matter how i persuaded him. With these engines you are missing quite some power by not reving them to the top :P
@@MonsterCod1 Exactly! Whenever I've let people drive my s2000, they always shift it at around 7,500 rpm no matter what I tell them. You are truly missing out on the whole point of the car if you don't take her up to 9,000 rpm.
@@sdlausen1 At the end, what matters is that you enjoy it to the fullest ;) I hope someday i will be able to buy one too. The prices are getting ridiculus here :P
@@MonsterCod1 They are getting ridiculous. I'm lucky to have bought my AP1 7 years ago for only $6000 USD. They weren't overhyped that much back then haha. Its doubled in value since then even after putting 30k miles on it.
exactly, Ive done that 2x and broke even or made a couple thousand after owning them for 3 yrs each. I just bought another one last year but will hold on to it. Great car!
