@GoldTau-km9dmchiefs did two 21 year olds and like most people in the draft. Like just about every 49ers pick is 23. Get used to seeing 23/24 year old draft picks btw. NIL got kids wanting to stay in college longer. If they aren't top round picks
@@samuelault4723 yeah I know. That will be gone after this year though. People staying longer cause of NIL, will stay. Unless changes are made towards transferring but I think that will be a few years away.
@@fuexiong88yet 30 other coaches didn't even make a super bowl. They have consistently had a team that is in the mix and a chance to win a super bowl that's all u can ask for.
@@codytinabannister1336 Thank you!!! Holy shit! Our fan base is so spoiled and has such short term memory. Pretty much every star player we have besides cmc was drafted by kyle and lynch so idk where all this hate comes from.
Niiiiinerrrrrrrrrs, hey I'm pumped up for the season. I can't wait to go to n watch the 49er games. Great roster especially w/ Rock Ya-Sin, Campbell, Floyd n Collins. 👍
I like Pearsall a lot and having a cost-controlled WR with elite separation ability will be great in coming years. I hate how they handled the 2nd round. Green sounds like a solid prospect, but there was top tier talent on the board earlier in the round. Would've liked to see them trade up for an impact player like DeJean, Kool-Aid, or Newton.
Jacob Cowing could be a monster for us. I suspect he will remind a lot of us of Tyreek Hill. He is super productive as a receiver. 90 catches in a college season with a rookie at QB is insane
@@gwest9076 I’m not sure on that. I think one will end up at X the other Z. So completely different assignments. I think they want more production out of Jennings spot.
@@gwest9076 I think the difference between the two is the drop rate history. Pearsall has always been a reliable pass catcher. Cowing at an astronomical drop rate of 16% his first couple years. That’s a big reason for his draft spot
I know a lot of people are not happy with some of our picks but I’m excited about the players we drafted I’ve watched film on some of these guys and I was very impressed
This was a different draft in a long time an I love every pick they went speed on offense and now that we finally got a QB that can throw with accuracy this speed can dismantle the best of defenses if you fellow closely the 49ers taken KC defense offense scheme 3 young safeties and speedy wide receivers this draft 49ers got a star in RENARDO GREEN that Florida State defense was no joke and he was a big part of it 49ers got some youth on the bench
Great Commentary and Review. Kyle Shanahan and Lynch draft scheme fit players for the offense and defense. On the offense Kyle is going back to his roots, receivers with versatility, route running and the ability to break big plays. Strenghthing the offensive line with a few offensive lineman was a good sign. The Jacob Cowing was definitely a special, because Kyle's 2016 Atlanta team had a slot receiver named Taylor Gabriel that was uber dangerous a legit comp for Cowing. As for the defense there was obvious attention tailerd to shoring up a weaken run defense. Overall I give a solid B+
The elite athleticism should increase the explosive plays (which were already a strength), the return game, and special teams overall. I think 2024 picks were made with special teams in mind, considering the strength of returning starters. It is exciting to imagine a 49ers team that is top 5 in all phases of the game. Has that ever happened? What is the best any team has done in terms of ranking in each phase and did that team play in the Super Bowl that season?
I like most of the players...I just don't like the value involved. Just because you got what you wanted doesn't mean you should shirk frugality and sense in acquiring it. This haul could've easily been had while adding multiple picks in next year's draft.
I feel like we always draft smaller / shorter wide receivers and corners. Anybody else agree? When’s the last time we had a big physical specimen at either of these positions?
Almost every player we drafted had less than stellar stats(Cowing the exception) but had pure physical traits. Lots of speed. Older players; supposedly more ready to play. Most of these were at positions we do not have immediate needs. Most were “reaches”. C+ at best due to lack of addressing needs and less than ideal value. Who’s Guerendo beating out? Mason? Mitchell? The new dude from the Packers? Who’s not going to be on the WR group? Bell? Conley? Gray? Taylor? Will Cowing even make the team? We signed a lot of help at CB. Who’s not going to make the team there? These are legitimate questions regarding the draft. We likely wasted money in FA or these draft picks from this year or last will have been wasted.
Our first pick is not only a player hesguy that will do something to get you hyped he's a highlight real that will keep rest of team hype just like deebo does
You make some good points. But aren’t we at the point yet where the draft hype is overblown? Case in point is Brock Purdy, 262. We got some good athletes. They’re good fits as you say. We got a good team. Let’s go!
I think ppl have a little bit of hive mind when it comes the ages of the guys the niners picked. Based on the list of over 400 prospects in Dane Brugler’s “The Beast” draft guide for The Athletic, the average age this year is 23.24 years old. Go look at all the prospects ages throughout the draft. High ceiling and low floor might not be as predictable based on the age of the prospect as it once was. If you are a niners fan that is concerned about the ages, hopefully this makes it feel a bit better
I think this has a chance to be a sneaky good draft as a whole. This is one of those we won't have a clue how this looks until year 3 but I really think this could be one of those sneaky good drafts that give us 3-4 starters within 3 years. Excited to see this year with Purdy though. This team is evolving cause of Purdy and Shanny's trust in Purdy.
Nice call coach. Lynch’s guys always focus on the special needs of Shanahan’s scheme. Piersall fits it. So does Puni. That makes them high value TO SF. No one who coaches cares about mock draft slotting. For coaches, It’s all about getting the guy to excel in your scheme. Defense got better too, especially moving away from away from Wilks passive prevent approach. Aggression and flexible assignments. DeMecco would approve…Fred too
Still at it , must be OT with Brad . Given the options , was a great finish . We got a better team . FASTER Almost forgot about FA , we're much better .
I dont have a specific issue with the talent or potential of the 6 guys. My issue is with the lack of urgency in improving the biggest weakness...pass protection. You cant wait till the late 3rd round and expect to get aomeone who immediately makes you better. If you think your guy wont be available at 31, TRADE UP
Pass protection was the biggest need before the draft, and it still is. It doesn’t matter who your receiver is, if the QB doesn’t have time to throw the ball. And I don’t care how they scored in the underwear Olympics. The game isn’t played with cones on the field.
I hope the O-line picks hit cause Purdy against the Ravens & Chiefs proved he needed 1 more second. Hell 2 yrs ago SF lost 4 QBs, the O-line has been terrible for a while now. The 1st 2 picks look great but if that O-line isn't fix it won't matter much.
I'll admit.. when they called that pick for Pearsall, i was like "Ricky who? Who The Fu*k is that?!" But you're right. After sleeping on it and watching his tape combined with CJ Stroud's reaction and Steve Smith's take on him, I felt a lot better. I also realized that Kyle Shanahan has a plan on how to use him, and scheme plays to get him open. Just get open, and Brock will get that ball to yah!
Bruh it’s not weather pearsall is good or not. It’s that at best he’ll be the 4th option this upcoming year, and their biggest weakness was OLine go actually have time to get it to your stud receivers. I would have rather they move up if possible for a Tackle or move back and get two Olinemen, Puni and another tackle, and green. Specially after drafting cowing.
Should have gotten Braden Fiske in the 31th overall and trade up for Rosengarten instead of waiting for him to fall to them. If you want a player, go up and get that player
I think I'm the only one that don't like this 2024 49ers draft, my own list will be (if possible) : 1. Cornerback 2. Center 3. Right Tackle 4. Right Guard 5. Left Tackle 6. Safety from my point of view, last year Superbowl and NFC Conference the year before that, the reason 49ers lost to Chiefs and Eagles because the OL can't give Purdy more time in the pocket.
You should never take a WR with a 1st rd pick that will never be the team’s #1 WR. I like the late round picks. I’m beginning to think the Niners SHOULD trade their 1s,2s,& 3s, because they always do weird things with them.
Well one you can't predict is a wide out is a number one or two ... Remember Aiyuk was not considered a number one receiver when drafted. Also Lynch has had some good hits in the first three rounds , Aiyuk, Bosa, Warner and Deebo were selected in rounds 1 through 3 .... In fact most of the top players on the team are draft pics. Though they have had misses but every team does ... The question is are the hits out weigh the misses and to me for the most part the answer is yes.
Larry fitzgerald? Calvin johnson? Lots more examples. Plus harrison jr went 4th overall lol. You dont know ball bruh. Tons of #1 receivers end up a #1 wr on team. Bad take. Incorrect take. Delusional take
The two picks I liked most was the first two picks of the 4th round. Other than that, "meh". I make no comment about how good or bad a player Pearshall is, because no one knows, but I will say this: picking him is horrible draft strategy. Again, that says nothing about the player, but the strategy to take him there is awful.
49ers got some real nice picks, but it want matter if they don't get past teams like the chiefs and ravens, they pretty much dominate most of the nfc,the lions and packers might give them slight problems but if they don't find a answer to stop the ravens and especially the chiefs especially when they have Taylor and the same refs helping them win and mostly kyle,i could never understand how a coach like Kyle have a stack and talented and explosive roster and get the same results every season, get close to the superbowl and lose or be in the superbowl and lose...again, if the 49ers make the superbowl and lose again, someone please talk to Kyle and tell him sorry your way past due for being on the hot seat and no pointing fingers at your coaches and players, point it at yourself, no excuses, your the head coach, what's the problem why we keep losing, that's all i got to say, they lose again, time to question him on why they lost
Am I the only one who doesn't give a rip about how they "test out"? Most Workout Warriors end up busts, and half the time blazing 40 times don't translate to production with the pads on. I only care about what the players show on their tape. And based on that, and on our needs? I will have to mostly wait and see. John and Kyle don{t have a great rd 1 track record, but the McGlinchy who Stole Xmas, Bosa and Aiyuk were all rd 1, so not end of the world, either. And they have hit with a lot of mid round and later picks, as the roster and the upcoming "who to pay, who to let walk" issues show. So While I would have preferred more focus on the O line and secondary, I will wait til December to judge the draft. You don't give an exam on the first day of class, and "grading a draft" based on idiotic mock drafts, that hold zero weight for actual NFL execs is just as silly. Hell for all the generational talent nonsense for Caleb Williams,. he could still be an NFL bust. As could any of the picks on any team. And there gonna be a lot of players who nobody thought would be worth a damn, who will shine. Brock Purdy, George Kittle, Fred Warner, etc all prove that.
I give it a D grade. They got some good players, good characters, and ball skill but they were reaches. If Niners wanted them they should have traded back and gained some pick. Niners didn't get a tier 1 or tier 2 OL. They reached and drafted a WR and CB with their top picks making the room even more crowded. They did nothing to address their TE depth. Cowling could be a contributer at KR/PR. Pearsall would be fighting Jennings and even Cowling for the slot receiver spot. In the end it doesnt matter how many weapons Brock has if he dont have time to throw it. Eagles had a great draft. They got 2 1st round graded players. They got a 3rd , 4th and 5th rounder added next year. They even signed a really good UDFA in Gabe Hall. KC had a really good draft. They got Worthy which is their type. They got a really good OT and a big athletic TE.
KC ended up getting LB Curtis Jacobs as a UDFA too. The Cards, Philly, Balt, and KC all had amazing drafts. And 3 of those teams picked in the later parts of the rounds and dealt to move around strategically. I hope I’m wrong and these picks are the ones we needed but my honest assessment is we got smoked in this draft. C+ to B- from me…
Curtis Jacobs would have been a good pickup especially since we need LBs. Hopefully Dee Winters can step up. Too many reaches for the Niners. I thought some of the players they drafted weren't bad but they were projected later on and there were better prospects on the board. Niners with all those draft capital should have traded some for the future. Niners were lucky to get comp picks the last few years that helped keep them afloat but that is no guarantee.
Come on niner fans , stop complaining 🙄 we got what we needed. Yeah we didn’t get the ones we wanted… but John and Kyle both have success with 3-7 round picks.. I’ll trust it until the picks show otherwise! Kittle 3rd round Warner 3rd round greenlaw 5th round BROCK MF PURDY pick 7th round number 262
@@TheDeadlyefx neither does taking a possession receiver when you have a loaded WR room. It’s called throwing more darts at a position of need gives you more chances to be successful
@@armandogarcia1024 extremely casual take. The dude runs a 4.41. Watch the tape. Listen to people who know more than you. Which is everyone. Deebo and/or Aiyuk won't be on the team in 2025. They drafted a replacement. It’s called preparation for the future. Lastly, just because you don’t draft a lineman in the first round doesn’t mean all is lost. They had the rest of the draft to address needs. And they did that.
Honestly I hate draft grades ... You never know how it works out till years down the line ... I mean last year Cardinals, Giants , Falcons and patriots we're all given A's for drafts grades ... The results speak for themselves.
The niners window is closed. Last year was the year. Had the health had the team. The nfc was weak. This year, those things won’t line up. Niners won’t even make the playoffs
The problem isn't the players. The problem is how we handle the draft and our sequencing. #1 pick-not going to start this year #2 pick-COULD start this year but they seem unclear about his position #3 pick-likely not going to start (though he probably should at RT) picked as backup #4 pick-might start. Depends on circumstances #5 pick-will not start #6 pick-will not start #7 pick-not start #8 pick-not start We went in with at least two positions we seriously needed to upgrade at, CB and RT (RG and C as well...). We passed on a starting CB in round 1 and reached for Green instead later. We did NOTHING about RT at all, because they keep talking about Puni as a guard, even though he played tackle well at Kansas. What we DID do was spend our first, 1st round pick in 4 years on a guy who will redshirt and maybe return a few punts. Serious teams who are trying to win a ring don't draft like that. NONE OF THIS helps us get over the hump this year.
only guy i really wanted was tj tampa the way he plays ,corners dont play like that no more and it makes sense that the ravens got him but him on the niners EXACTLY what they needed also
I watched a bit of Green’s tape and he’s going to have to find balance in his aggressive play style…. He is grabby after 5 yards and he’ll become a liability as they’re going to call it in the NFL
