Sorry, the spike as a finisher both for Umaga and Sikoa never looks that impressive. In fact it looks like a finisher given to a mid-1970's regional lower mid carder before they were fed to the top local babyface.
On the subject of Umaga... while I did like his Samoan Spike (seemed to have a lot of power in it), his real finisher should have objectively been the Samoan Drop. That one on Brian Kendrick is an all-timer for the most deadly. Had he lived beyond 2009 and stayed in WWE, do you think he ever would have won a world title? He seemed more than deserving of one!
Man it’s sad because the kid has potential but even though he’s “paying homage” the umaga thing got old real Fast and now him being tribal chief feels like bro we just want to see how it’s gonna end he’s gonna have to pull a jey uso and go babyface to save his career
Never bought him as a top guy but maybe that might change depending on how strong his push is ,if its consistent ,if he can headline without bloodline.....
Nostrildamus forces his darlings on us all the time. His persistence sometimes pays off because the iwc doesn't hold him accountable like they did with Vince. However, I am starting to see more people wake up from the honeymoon phase.
I've never been a fan of the Samoan Spike as a finisher regardless of who was doing it. From a wrestling science perspective, why is this strike more devastating compared to the rest of the strikes a person throws? I'd much he perform either a visually devastating slam or something he can perform 'out of nowhere' (which are my personal preferences for finishers.)
Solo is short for Solofa, so he probably was trying to pay tribute to his father with his ring name. Why he didn't name himself Solofa Sikoa, though... His lack of wrestling ability could be because he was a defensive lineman at an NAIA college. At least with Rock and Roman, they were D-linemen at NCAA Division 1 schools.
NICE DAVE!!! IF the "Spike" was used the way that Terry Gordy and Killer Khan used it where the purpose was to cut off the air supply of your opponent, then it MIGHT make a little more sense, ala The Tongan Death Grip. But I digress.
What was it that Punk called him, A Tribal Chief Cosplayer? It was something like that, but yeah, think they may have found the guy who in comparison may make even the ones who booed Roman the most to actually cheer against, and not because of the guy being a good heel either, just Roman is honestly better all around. I don’t think Solo is that bad. He is just pushed way to far way to early. He is not a believable leader in any way, and yes I think there is some truth to the part, that he wouldn’t be there if they got Jacob Fatu earlier
My issue with the Samoan spike is the same with Big show's WMD. How is a single strike more devastating than any other punch a wrestler throws? I understand the Big Show because getting hit by him is the equivalent to taking a punch from a prime George Foreman. The reason why Umaga made the Samoan Spike good is because he looked like he was trying to kill his opponent the same can't be said for solo. Which makes the move as weak as a Shane McMahon punch
