4:18 I actually really like the idea that in a world where the Holy Grail war didn't happen and Kirei never met Gilgamesh he just left the church and found fulfillment in his life by being a tofu chef instead of an evil monster
The best part about Prisma Illya is the fact that Zelretch himself is the reason why this series is canon. He is the one who created these sentient magical sticks and gave them to Rin and Luvia. What a madlad
Also he IS in the OG Illyaverse world, and according to Nasu that is all it takes for a timeline to be canonical (He is the “Observer” as he wields the magic of time travel).
Honestly my favourite part of Prisma Illya is the fact that while it _is_ a Magical Girl series, it's also 100% a Nasuverse series, brutality and complex magical systems included
There's also the movie: "Oath under Snow" which covers Miyu's history as well as her version of Shirou. It's well worth watching. There's also a new movie due to come out in October which seems like maybe it's supposed to pick up where 3Rei left off. I just pre-ordered it over at Rightstufanime.
If your talking about the second movie fate kaleid liner prisma illya licht nameless girl that movie is already out unless your talking about the third one coming out? I'm confused on which movie you pre ordered?
@@Sakuro43 the 2nd movie's fight scene is literally hell, i never seen a movie with such horrible fighting scene, cringed all the way from start of the fighting to the end
Keep in mind that the trolley problem, despite being presented as the "mature" debate, has been constantly mocked for either being too vague, for encouraging people to give up too quickly on saving everyone just to play it safe and for not actually being sustainable in the long term if the situation gets repeated too many times by many (in fact, that last point was tackled in Fate/Zero).
I hate that scenario with a passion just as much as who would you save boat/island. They try and come across as smart and clever when as you said it's pretty basic lacking any nuance. Like just save as many as you can and if you have enough time to think about it you have more time to think of a better solution.
Yeah, but there are way more themes to it. Like dealing with subconscious and your other self (Chloe), trauma and hope, into the unknown, the importance of growth and maturity, so much
@@wombat4583 the last sentence is pretty much the conclusion shirou comes to as well. No need for overly complex dilemmas on why trying to save people is wrong just do what u think is right
Shirou having the mindset of a middle schooler makes sense He lacks several years of memory and experience(amnesia due to the fuyuki fire) And suffers through trauma(almost passed out when kirei mentioned the fuyuki fire) and survivors guilt(i dont need an example for this) Not only is he several years behind he also suffers severe trauma Off course the UBW anime removed all inner monoluge so you wouldnt know what shirou is suffering through without re search
@UCtYgVgWDWBX7OVxXc8VFQFg i never said he doesnt remmember the fire I said he doesnt remmember several years of his life(the life before the fire) Also the visuel novel states that "I sealed any memories before that so that I would never think about them. People kinder than anyone else. Memories of those who were my parents. So as not to recall them and go back… …I sealed them tight, thinking I was already dead. Don't open it." Stating very clearly he dont remmember shit from his past before the fire
Shirou doesnt have amnesia. I dont know where people got that. Anime doesnt show it, but in the VN and manga of HF, he remembers his parents and his home, and how difficult it was for him to accept his life with Kirritusgu, wishing to wake up one day from this nightmare until one day he accepted reality and moved on. As I said, the anime doesnt show that but it also doesnt portray him with amnesia either. This aside, ufo's anime and even Deen make a good portrayal of his trauma, survivor's guilt and ptsd. I dont understand why people just ignore all of his scenes where this IS explained be it with imagery or monologues.
@@ssjokg4952 "My body survived. But I think all the other things about me burned up and were reduced to ashes. If you take away a child's parents, home, and all such things, there's nothing left for him. That's why there was only my body. I think it's a simple story. In other words, in order to let my body live... My heart died." Literally in the beginning?
@@ssjokg4952 and to support alix statment here is another statment from the visuel novel "I sealed any memories before that so that I would never think about them. People kinder than anyone else. Memories of those who were my parents. So as not to recall them and go back… …I sealed them tight, thinking I was already dead. Don't open it."
@@Alix12 Why do you take that as memories and not everything he had in life up to that point like.... parents, a home etc? Basement scene when Kirei offers him the grail: ---…Yeah. I wanted that too, though it can't have been as bad as you guys. Even after Kiritsugu adopted me. I went to the burned field often to look at the scenery. I went to the place where nothing remained, opened the door that didn't exist, walked through the hallway that didn't exist, and smiled at my mother who wasn't there anymore. …I wanted to return to the days before it happened. I awaited the day when I would wake from this bad dream. That didn't happen and I accepted reality. But if I could obtain a world where it didn't happen and where nobody got hurt, that would certainly be---- HF manga also shows his parents taking him out of the house and telling him to run.
I don't know if it was brought up to you already, but Bazett was the original Master of Lancer, that Kirei killed off-screen in F/SN, and she's the protagonist of Fate/hollow Ataraxia
In manga there is special chapter that reaveals true reason why every girl is in love with Shirou, it's the same as in Fate Stay Night so...EVERY girl saw Shirou doing that failed high jump, and that's it. It's kinda hilarious that so many people saw it, I am pretty sure that even Kirei and Gil saw that and laughed their asses. Also in same chapter Sakura (Iliyaverse version) appears.
He came too far into the “Fate franchise” No one can stop him now from watching “kara no kyoukai” & Nasu's other works. Run! You need to live! It's not worth it! Run away!!
Should feed him a Visual Novel, shall we? He goes to the Bottom of Abyss in “Made in Abyss” and we all know tightly that just a giant door to Fate Lore and Nasuverse. Does it worth it? Yes... Does it good? Yes! It is just time-consuming. But in the end, it's enjoyable.
Of all the Fate spin off series this is the one I couldn't get into but turned into a guilty pleasure eventually because underneath all the lesbian loli shenanigans there's a good story. The only thing I really like about this spin off is the Vow in the Snow/Oath under snow movie.
Lmao, I came for Shirou Oath Snow. Stayed for the Plot & ofc my stone heart melted because of their Friendship (Fate Kaleid : Illya & Miyu into the Parallel of madness)
As controversial as the anime may be, you gotta admit. Those fight scenes SLAP HARD Also, did you see the 2 movies, Oath in the Snow and Licht Nameless Girl? Highly recommend them, ESPECIALLY Oath in the Snow.
Man love your videos. Btw i just saw the COTE vid and got to know that u love big brain animes. I recommend you Monster it is slow paced but really good.
Illya is my favourite character. This story makes her better and better as it proceeds through the Pandora’s box theme. Where will Illya end up at the end of the story?
you should really watch the Oath Under Snow movie and the Licht movie, they continue the story (also Prisma Phantasm which is just Carnival Phantasm for Kaleid) also i highly recommend checking out the author's other Fate related works, he wrote some great stuff for Stay Night and Hollow Ataraxia also Kara No Kyoukai movies next?
I'm happy that the review is humorous and not too critical. Quite honestly: the elephant in the room is the loli yuri which will either make you cringe or laugh or make you look for ecchi. It's fantasy, it doesn't matter if you keep it there But that out of the way, the story of Prisma Illya is possibly the best crafted one in the Fate universe, I'm serious. A perfect balance of comedy, tragedy and action. While Illya has the most amazing eyes and silver hair, she also has a heart of gold (not literally, not the reason Gil wanted it... sorry), so if you look beyond the profane, it's very close to a masterpiece
I would have like that you made a video from every season...because aside of the "funny moments" from season 1.... that season is great even the combat style and one of the best fight ever in fate in general (alter saber vs all the cast)
I assumed you already know how to watch this series? Just to be sure. - Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya - Prisma Illya 2wei! - Prisma Illya 2wei! Herz! - Prisma Illya 3rei! - Oath Under Snow (movie/prequel) - Nameless Girl (movie)
This one is a weird one, its uncomfortable at times, but its also genuinely fun to watch for the most part, the humour and slice of life is good (which i personally started to miss when the show took the darker turn later on lmao) and it has a decent plot behind it which really picks up as it goes along Season 1 is decent Season 2 is okay Season 3 is...acceptable Season 4 is great and reminds you you're still watching Fate Oath Under Snow is fucking fantastic (you better review this one!) Nameless Girl is okay but i despise it for the cliff hanger lmao Oh and i forgot to mention Prisma Phantasm which is amazing
Prisma Illya got inspired by the Mahou Shoujo Lyrcial Nanoha series, both took a minor loli character from the original parent stories, and have her as the MC of Magical Girl series that became better than the original. Yes Nanoha was once a minor character of a ancient visual novel series from way back in 1998 called Triangle Heart.
How could u Not rate Gilgamesh's Best incarnation yet!?? He was literally Gold, and at least give the Miyuverse Shirou some props for being a better protagonist than his canon version.
Don't forget to watch Oath under snow. There are far less... "scenes", but it shows that the series would still be great even without the uh.... "fan-service" ?
She does use his card in the most recent movie and she states that the Berserker card seems to be helping her push forward, implying that the Berserker in the card has memories of her from Stay Night. However this line was cut from the movie and only in the manga.
Now you only have to finish fate extra and you’ll be free of watching fate. Well until they release either an epic of remnant or a lostbelt adaptation. And well if they release an adaptation of fate/strange fake(rumor only).
Hey, don't mislead him! He hasnt watched El Meloi Case Files, and some special episodes like Fate prototype, Learning with FGO, many Iliya specials, Grand Carnaval, not even mentioning Garden of Sinners. He still has a long way to go into Fate Abyss.
There was also crosoverr between Iliya and Nanoha, you know another magical girl who was supporting character in Eroge but later got her own spin-off and later got a few sequels.
Funny enough We have no idea if this is canon or not While ther are crossovers with fgo its not in the canon story so we dont really know if its canon or not canon
I really hope to see your thoughts for the movie Oath Under Snow, it'd my favorite movie, if you watch it make sure is the blu ray version since that one is a general improvement in the visual department in every way, also hoping to see a Lord El-Melloi II video
3:08 not like OG Illya wouldn't do that in the Stay Night route anyways 6:55 edit, just a friendly reminder to tell you this girl got killed by Kirei as soon as she summoned Lancer, which is why we don't see her in Stay Night
In FGO miyu also doesnt believe in ghost shes a servent which is kinda a ghost thats some hardcore denial The event was the recent summer servent camp where they did a ghost busters parody
I was kinda iffy on starting the series due to the overly cutesy artstyle, but the show itself dropped it in the middle of the first ep, and it gradually kept getting better overall the more I watched. So, if one gives the show a chance, it can become one's favorite Fate series.
You forgot the other Shirou aka the Miyu verse Shirou Emiya who's actually the main character of this series and steals the spotlight from Illya. Also he has probably the best movie in the entire fate franchise (Oath Under snow) and that's not a joke especially coming from this series
The most hilarious part is that Miyu being captured "again" is a anime-only thing. The anime scared out a lot of manga fans thinking the third season would be a original closed ending with no more seasons sinfe she is supposed to *FAIL* rescuing Miyu, which is why she got kidnapped a second time in the anime instead, so they could link it to the next season
I'd say that the recent chapters warrant the kaleid liner manga/anime as good as the other fate stuff, being my personal favorite out of all fate animes
Dunno if somebody already told u in the comments but to answer ur question " what convinced somebody to make this?", it was the scene from the sequel visual novel to Fate/stay night called Fate/hollow ataraxia, where there's a scene with Shirou and Rin trapped in a box together with Ruby.
4:59 hey, you cant just slander protagonists(ma boi shirou) like that, some people( basically me) likes the heroic protagonists too. Too many brooding anti hero grim dark protagonists nowadays just kinda make me lose faith in humans. edit: i know its a joke, but i guess i just became way too sensitive of how people see the heroic protagonist type nowadays, what with many characters being twisted and made darker for the sake of it. Anyways, i didnt expect you too just zip through the entire seasons of prisma that quick, where u getting the time for this bro?
@@LunarEquinox i know, which was i edited my comment, you would think i got used to your brand of comedy by now given that ive been watching your vids for the last month
Overall I've definitely enjoyed this series. It started off as a nice little mix of Fate and poking some fun at magical girl tropes. But it really built itself up nicely as it went along. By the current arc it fits right in with the rest of the Fate universe in terms of a pretty dark setting with.
Also I've just realized. Isn't this Illya the only direct Kiritsugu Emiya along all the Fate universe that still alive? Then that's explaining why even though she's still 11 y.o., yet she quickly grows and shoulder missions that even too big for adults to handle. 😢 Ntm after remembering all the suffering Illya got in "stay night" verses (yea I know those are not the same Illya but still...) to have this version of Illya which is not only having normal live as a kid (which I already so happy at that point). But then her redemption isn't only there. She, with the help of her friends going through these battles, has developed such a great MC character (probably the best MC anime I've ever seen considering) being a normal kid in this verse, and yet developed such a great heart to fight for everyone's happiness, doing a great job of a mission that even for adults, these are such a toll order. "What's wrong with wishing everyone to be happy?" Dem, those words of her still ringing clearly in my head. She really is the descendants of Emiya. 🥲 Though everytime she comes out from battlefield alive, I just have an urge to quickly hug her and say "Thank God, I'm so glad you're alive. Now please rest". I just want ... she is too amaziinggg!!! 😭😭😭
YOROKOBE SHONEN, AT LONG LAST WE HAVE TYPE MOON PERFECTION also oath under snow is really good, recommend to watch and there is also the licht movie which picks up after drei and is also pretty good
When I first saw Bazeet, I was wondering who put a walking menace into this anime 💀 She literally was boxing Shadows Gilgamesh AND has a fucking Noble phantasm?! AND SHE ONLY HUMAN?! Oh nah…I don’t want see her as Demi-Servant 💀
Although this isn't all of this show since there are two other movies fate prisma illya oath under snow and fate prisma illya licht nameless girl and as well as the third movie tho it's not out yet. Overall I liked watching your opinion on this show hope you'll watch the 2 other movies as well!
Huh… youuu.. really should watch the Fate/Prisma Illya: Oath Under Snow movie now, as that’s what comes next, and is seen as the best part of the series
Prisma Illya is the first series that has both incest and selfcest...at the same time (Chloe/Kuro is the Counter Force version of Illya). The writer of Prisma Illya wrote Agartha, the worst singularity in FGO, story-wise.
It was only the episodes with egregious amounts of loli fanservice and (with some "guidance" [read restraint and supervision]) wrote the India lost belt which had some of the best character moments in the story till Olympus.
Can't wait for you to watch Lord El Melloi II's Case files next, either that or Fate Extra Last encore. If not, then I would 100% recommend you watch Kara No Kyoukai:The Garden of Sinners, it's set within the type moon universe, and has some relations to Fate
