1970's Certain Ethnic Varieties Big Chuck and Hoolihan's spoof on the popular Cleveland TV show "Polka Varieties" with Paul Wilcox. If you've ever seen the original show you'll laugh your head off at this!
lizajane54 I am and I sure do polka variety s was a staple in my house. growing up I still love this lmao!! ty for some memories I met Paul Wilcox yrs ago at the now long gone east 185street fair. awesome man may he Rip
I just laughed so hard at this! Thank you so much for putting it up. :D Incidentally, they needed more old ladies dancing with each other. That's what I remember most about Polka Varieties.
Cleveland seems to have a deep sense of nostalgia and reverence about its local culture and entertainment compared with other major cities I've lived in. Not sure why that is. It may be due to the various ethnic neighborhoods and people's sense of heritage.
My father is Paul Wilcox. He shared this with us when it first came out. He had a fabulous sense of humor. Loved these skits! Never an embarrasment to us!
@groundhog713 Hope your grandmother is well, whether she's in Cleveland, Florida, or gone to a worthy rest. Bet you a box of fresh Krispy Kremes you still dance to this. (still the Panda, name changed due to a screwup)
Here's a weird little fact: North Korean music teachers are absolutely positively required to learn the accordion! And not just "Lady Of Spain" but a proper mastery of the instrument! There's a meaning in this, can any good Clevelander enlighten me?
