I once had molten hot plastic trickle on my fingers and fuse with the skin. Taking that off was one of the most painful things I ever experienced. I can only hope Aegon's nerve endings were burned away so he doesn't feel the pain. Must be excrutiating.
The Hour of the Wolf is supposed to be the "darkest" time of night. I believe it's like 3-4 am. I hope this isn't spoilers but it's also the name given to a period of the Dance of the Dragons. So this is the show showing the viewers that this is a term used in Westeros. I also believe when Jacaerys talks about possible dragonriders, he is speaking of bastards. He himself is considered a bastard (though I'd argue Laenor "adopted" him by acting as their father). The rules of who can ride a dragon are disputed. GRRM wrote recently that he'd address it more in Winds of Winter (should he ever finish) as Dany needs to find two more riders for her dragons. Traditionally, the dragon riders are of House Targaryen. But there is some evidence you only need some Valyrian blood (and there are at least two other houses with Valyrian ancestry the most important being Velaryon in this series). So could Corlys or his children not by Rhaenys ride a dragon? And how much Valyrian blood is also disputed. The Targaryens would have you believe they need to be full blooded (and this is why they need incest to keep the bloodline "pure"). But Jacaerys and his brothers are only half Valyrian (from their mother's side) as Alicent's children are also only half-Valyrian so it's pretty clear you only need one Valyrian parent, but what about a grandparent? Or a great grandparent? What is "enough"?
Oh. Damn. I thought we figured it out with midnight😂 Ooohhh I didn't think of Corlys. Good shout. Or that guy (forgot his name) that's clearly his son that has had a bit of screen time. Hmm 🤔
Slow.episode, but I stop short of saying it was boring like a lot of comments I've seen. Baela, or Baela-Bae as I've named her is my new favorite. That scene where she respectfully told her grandsire to get his s**t together was fantastic.
I liked it. We needed a bit of slow after the chaos in the previous one just to set up everyone's plans for ep 6. And hell yeh, I never noticed how smart she was. We need more Baela screen time. I don't blame Corlys though. It's just that you don't have time to grieve in times of war.
I think Alys Rivers is working with Larys Strong to weaken Daemon and divide team Black. I don't think the scene with the Riverlords was real. I think that was a dream. I think it was a dream planted by her when they spoke because it was exactly what she had said. It was meant to plant guilt and make him doubt himself. Her manipulation is meant to push him to the depth of that darkness he keeps sheathed within, as Rhaenyra put it, and divide team Black.
