House of the Dragon S2E03 The Burning Mill 

Rhaenyra's disguise isn't that foolish. You have to remember that outside of the royal court, most people have no idea what she really looks like. Any time they have seen her has only been from a great distance.

Larys was so good here. They wanted to keep Aegon at home, and he's all set to fly out to war, but Larys comes in and stops him at the last minute. BUT, at the same time, he sows seeds of distrust and doubt in Aegon's mind about his brother (his greatest weapon) and his mother (the only mediating voice at the table now that Otto is gone).

And so the dance of dragons begins. Im really enjoying following you guys journey... keep up the great work Rob and Trin

I loved the conversation between Rhaenys and Rhaenyra. I loved how she was basically telling Rhaenyra that the upcoming war is gonna be violent, bloody and very brutal and many people will die. Before she actually decides to cross that line she needed to actually just have a conversation with her former friend Alicent. The other scene i loved was the scene between Alicent and Rhaenyra. It hasn't resolved anything because i still hate Alicent with a passion but i atleast understand now where she is coming from a little bit. And i loved how they both finally realised that there is no going back and war is inevitable right now. Too many things have happened to undo that course. Atleast they got to have a friendly moment one last time and they both understand they are going to do what they have to do.

I think Aemond has now lost the only place of retreat that kept him in a reasonable way. He no longer has a safe place for himself and no surrogate mom who tells him what's right. He was able to talk to her about his feelings and that should also be gone now. He will now eat everything into himself and at some point snap. Alicent can't change anything anymore, even if she wanted to. She does not have the influence and power to do so (If it were different, she would try it, I'm sure, because she is someone who repents). That's why it's too late. Against all the haters, it was made very clear again that Alicent put her son on the throne out of conviction and not because she heard what she wanted to hear. She did not fuck up and she is certainly not delusional. She did not know the story of ice and fire and therefore had no other reference to the name Aegon than her son in that context. It wasn't Alicent who made the mistake, but her husband, even if he couldn't help it. He was the one who thought he was talking to Rhaenyra, Alicent couldn't know that either. She thought he was talking to her. There is no evil thought to be found anywhere. Now there is no way back. Her son will not let the crown be taken away from him and his subordinates will not allow that. She can't do anything. In addition, it was made very clear in the last episode that Alicrent's sons no longer listen to her, thanks to Otto. This was literally the topic of the conversation between Alicent and Otto. Btw Alicent lets her friend go. What's more, she advises her to leave so that she can get away safely. The war could have ended right here in Hightower's favor. And never forget that Otto implanted the idea in her in season 1 that all her children will die by Rhynera if she becomes queen. So she also has to protect her children. Maybe not Aegon and Aemond, but certainly her daughter and granddaughter. I'm almost completely on the black side, at least so far, but I'm not ignoring the other side and the circumstances that have brought Allisant into this situation. I'm glad you're not one of those people either. Both R and A are victims of the puppeteers of their environment. Their path was manipulated by others to the point of no return. I think even though we are happy that Rhaenyra now has the security that her father never changed his mind, I think it was also the only reason that stopped Rhaenyra from waging war. The possibility of having been in the wrong and waging an unjustified war and claiming the throne is now gone.

I don't watch this show, but I do watch some other reactions of yours, so I'll chime in: In a scene where that girl is lighting bunch of candles, you can hear in the background a chant in Serbian "Gospodi pomiluj" which translates to "God have mercy", and that chant is a part of a funeral ritual which is performed just before someone is about to be buried... I don't know if that is supposed to mean something in the context of the show or it's used by accident...just thought of it as a fun trivia.

Fascinating meeting between Alicent and Rhaenyra. There was no way it could have made a difference though. 😢

Looking forward to tonight. This one was so sad for me. Lots of foreboding of doom for several and missed chances. I really love the quality in these shows.

Rob & Trin, how do we know whose Aegon is the Prince That Was Promised? It's a prophecy. It's not exact. Who says his name has to be Aegon? Who says a Targaryen has to be on the throne for the realm to be united? Viserys interpreted this "Prophecy" the way it suited him. Just like Stannis did.

The Song of Ice and Fire spoke of Aegon Targaryen aka John Snow, son of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark.
