Agree. I think that's why he was smirking or having the reaction he had in their small council mtg, if it created chaos & dissension among the Greens then that's great news for the Blacks.
That Arryk and Erryk scene brought me back to when Princess Shireen states on Game of Thrones " Brothers fought brothers, and dragons fought dragons." 😢
Aemond is so desperate to have the father figure and any approval that even Daemon trying to kill him makes him happy. Like “sempai noticed me” finally. :( They are all just broken kids with too much power.
I laughed because he decided to close the doors AFTER he had already began yelling at him. Otto don't you think the doors shoulda been shut before you're going to fuss at the "king"?
I loved the beginning where you talk about the difference between what was drilled into daemon and rhaenyra’s head vs alicent and her kids and how it explains their actions. Haven’t seen many people talk ab that disparity + how complacent the greens have been in thinking they’re untouchable and how it would screw them over
I think the narrative that the showrunners are going for is that hes going to Harrenhal to simultaneously prove himself to and spite Rhaenya. "You think im pathetic.. look at what i achieve at Harrenhal".
The difference between Queen Rhae Rhae and Alicent in mothering is glaringly obvious. . . Even the difference in grieving with the Blacks and Greens. . .
For all of Otto's thinking long term maybe he should have put some effort into making sure Aegon was ready to lead instead of just hoping the inbred psychopath would just do what he was told.
Exactly! He was so sure that he would be able to lead him along. Big fat fail Otto. This is just another reason why the Otto/Tywin comparisons fall flat for me.
He only cares about his family and protecting it, he doesn't give a fuck about the consequences. Casualties are a necessary evil in his eyes...too bad Sara Hess is doing her damn best to demonize him (pun intended)
I don't think Hess is trying to demonize him. She is showing that NO ONE really knows Daemon. They can't figure him out so they give him a wide berth. And he runs with whatever they assume.
@@ManicMeeks During her 2nd interview (1st season) she literally said "I hate Daemon with a passion, he's everything I hate in a man, condensed in a single entity" She's also a raging feminist, which doesn't help her judgement.
@@Cavpalshe said none of those things. You people keep hating on Sara but she gave us a well rounded character for Daemon here with a great dialogue episode.
Aemond seems to be the kind who's anger and depression seems to have....eaten him up. Probably only eats enough to survive and just trains with his sword or ride his dragon, hence his frail appearance. The way he is with his sword, the way he carries himself, its all an illusion to how he truly (and literally) bares himself to this woman.
Overall, Otto’s plan is failing bigly with AEGON-buyer’s remorse, indeed. But he was spitting FACTS by the end tho! Too bad his self-righteousness only lets him the possible outcomes, but not the process. He is no Tywin Lannister.
He was FED THEE FUCK UP! You hear me! lol He was like I'm trying set our family, us, the king up on a successful path and your impulsiveness and impertinence are making us fail! LMAO
1. You saying "Whooo is whoo?" had me cackling! 2. Alicent never had a parent, so she has no idea how to do that, which is basically Alicent in all situations; she is out of her depth all the time. 3. Ser Hunch n Munch is the most diabolical character in Westeros right now. Every bad decision he makes comes with a reward, so he's not sorry, never gonna be. He told Alicent he is beyond absolution, so he's going ten toes down on being the bad guy. Villain origin story complete. 4. Daemon messed up, BUT the whole reason Rhaenyra wanted him by her side is because he's ruthless. Not saying he was right, but he's been staying true to his character from day ONE. He only does something after she gives the nod (see Vaemond). She gave the nod ("I want Aemond Targaryen.") and Daemon went a-Daemoning in his murd3r cloak. Duh.
Thank you. I hate that people actually believe Daemon would order a hit out on that baby. His sin is employing people who had nothing to loose to handle business for him NOT killing that baby.
He did you knob 😂, blood literally said daemon said a son for a son, daemon did order then to kill the son if the didn’t find aemond, how many times will you ignore the dialogue 😂
Nobody would be off limits. Children included. All greens and their allies burn, even the children of the greens and allies.😂 Daemon wouldn’t care. He would be the very example and walking definition of the word Menace.
@@jacobmiller2663 only thing I remember going back and thinking he was right is when Otto said he’d be a second maegor… he ducking would , but skinnier and wouldn’t fall on the swords 😂
3:19 To your point, I'll add/let ppl remember: When Rhaenyra accuses Daemon of plotting "his war" when she was in labor. Go rewatch Episode 10/S1, Daemon did EVERYTHING CORRECTLY. • He knows Otto's plan will be to send a small band of assassins & do it thru stealth. So he organizes what little force they have on Dragonstone to watch the skies & the beaches. They dont have much men, but they can be vigilant & LOOK stronger than they are. • He correctly understands that no more time can be wasted. The Greens had a head start & they need to play catch up & FAST. So he wants to secure the Riverlands & Harrenhall bc he knows strategically that will tip the war in their favor. Jace walks in & says nothing is to be done w/out the Queen's consent. Daemon has the maester send the ravens anyways -- again, time can't be wasted. All Daemon did in those crucial hours/days when Rhaenyra was struggling thru her birth -- something we've seen the MEN can do nothing abt -- He took the assertive role to PROTECT HIS QUEEN/WIFE & THEIR KIDS (present on Dragonstone) & in many ways to secure her claim as the rightful heir/ruler. So when Rhaenyra answered Jace when he asked "Where's Daemon?" & she goes, "I dont know...gone to madness...gone to 𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘳..." AND she throws that back in his face in THIS argument...dafuq??! He did what was necessary, he acted appropriately & he probably got them ahead of the curve which they desperately needed at the time. It's bizarre that even Rhaenyra cannot recognize that. EP7/S1, Rhaenyra BEGGED Daemon to join her. "I cannot do this without you". He was more than happy to fck off to Pentos & not deal with Westeros or it's politics/GOT. But he agreed for HER sake. & she KNEW Daemon's "darkness", in fact that's one of the key factors why she wanted him, "they will fear what else we may be capable of [together]". She wanted him & everything that comes with it. & when she said her "I want Aemond Targaryen" line, she LOOKED directly at Daemon with a "do what you do" look in her eyes in that scene & she knew he's been out for blood since he learned Viserys died & they usurped her throne...what did she think was gonna happen? & what responsibility will she bear for HER part in it? Bc she could've also said aloud "I want him dead, but we'll make a plan". Or something. When she singled out Daemon, she couldve pulled him aside & said "We'll do it together. Promise me." Point is, she had power/authority that could've prevented him from taking actions. Since we've seen him frustratingly idling by when he feels he should be unleashed. He obviously has respect & restraint...he doesn't like it, but he is capable of it. Also, many ppl say when Cheese asked "what do we do if we can't find Aemond?" & the scene cuts to Daemon's face. Ppl say he smirks...again, go back to pause on it, he DOESN'T 😏. It's a neutral face. It's more like Mona Lisa's "smile". Some ppl see her smiling/smirking, other ppl think she looks bored, others see a look of contempt. It's open to the observers interpretation. Same w/how they shot it for Daemon & they are leaving it up to audience interpretation. If you think Daemon would order a child to be killed, then you're right. If you DON'T think that, you're also right.
14:20 To add on to my point abt when Rhaenyra begged Daemon. SHE USED HIM to secure her claim & also to have LEGITIMATE heirs/kids, so ppl would potentially stop questioning her kids parentage. Rhaenyra needs to start looking at HERSELF & her actions (& inactions), instead of projecting it all on to Daemon. He really needed to say more back to her than he did. But that's not Daemon, he doesn't defend himself, even when he should lol
I'm on Daemon's side: he has always protected his family, even when he's reckless doing it. On a side note, I miss the twins already, they were true knights till the bitter end.
Feels like she only knows how to be maternal with her daughter. I mean her other son has to pay a sex worker to be held like a child. Likely never happened for him growing up. Imagine if someone had hugged that baby one time when he was being bullied. He’d still have both his eyes.
I don't think she even knows how to me maternal to Heleana. She knows how to advise her on what she SHOULD do as a proper lady. However she has no idea how to be maternal to her kids.
Daemon told them if they couldn't find Aemond then a son for a son. He knew exactly what they were going to do if they didn't find Aemond. People are in denial.
Criston projecting mad hard. Literally manipulated Ser Arryk to his unnecessary death. I ain’t gonna lie Criston surpassed Aemond and Aegon for me with complexity. I can’t even hate him anymore, it’s just pity I can give. He’s a man drowning in shame and worthlessness that I just have to offer pity.
Daemon. I agree that he is a complex character. But I think all Daemon decisions have been for family but its what HE would want done. The difference is that he does things like HE is King. I think he tolerates Rhynera as Queen but he figures she can be easily influenced which he is realizing its not as easy as he thought. He does stuff but consults her after things are in motion. Bet Daemon is going to Harrenhall and win them to show Rhynera look what I can do ...just like he did with the Stepstones. I ❤ him but lawd Ser Cole is the biggest hypocrite in all of the land. Oh that scene with the twin angered me. He does nothing and gets promoted every flipping time. I think tge ending just showed the differences between the two mothers. Is how Alicent cant even comfort her own son and daughter....like woman. Smh
Damn no remorse for the dead kid 😂...just excuses for Daemon, I'm gonna enjoy this seasons reactions as he gets worse even against his so called wife and more excuses are created for him
There is always remorse for a killed child. I don't have to say that. Daemon knee-jerked reacted just like Aemon did. Another reason NEITHER of them have the temperament to be king. And FYI...I am a book reader. TEAM BLACK DOWN TO MY SOCKS!
I like Daemon and all but he’s evil. Trying to lie that he didn’t order the death of a child. Rhaenyra sees right through him. Blood and Cheese cut off the kids head for proof to get paid. If they didn’t follow orders that’s means no payment. A payed assassin won’t mess up on purpose.
Did you hear him say that? That's the beauty of how they are showing Daemon in the show. The audience didn't HEAR him say that. Assumptions are being made. They already think he always sneaking and scheming. It makes sense that he COULD say that, but did he? It's why Daemon is such a frustrating character. He makes his own problems. Had he did what Rhaenys said...wouldn't been no issues.
@@ManicMeeks it’s not about hearing him saying anything but if he did that would have clarified everything. But what makes sense is if Blood and Cheese get the proof of the dead kid and show Daemon they get paid job done. It wouldn’t make sense to disobey the objective from Daemon because you get no payment. If Daemon thought killing Aemond at night in his chambers isn’t guaranteed he wouldn’t have sent Blood and Cheese. But he sends them in anyway because there is another way to seek revenge if they can’t find Aemond. I’m not suprised he went on with this - considering he killed Rhea his ex wife to get out of marriage.
That's the story for Daemon. He doesn't tell this to anyone. Like Aemond just rolled with people thinking that he killed Luke on purpose. Daemon is gonna roll with whatever people think about him. He doesn't care. The only person he thought to clarify his actions with is Rhae and she doesn't believe him either. So now he has rushed off to Harrenhall to prove a point of service to Rhae.
@@Challenger180xActually, the first words out of Blood’s mouth when he saw the twins were “He said, a son for a son”. That’s that part that Daemon said off screen.
Alicent guurl. I really want to like you. I really do. But then you just fuck up again. Also Cole is the worst character in the show and his relationship with Alicent makes me gag.
The day Viserys' son died, Deamon held a celebration for the baby's death. Deamon is obsessed with power, but he would never kill his brother to take his crown, because killing a relative means a curse for them... Deamon does everything for power, do you think he would really be with Rhaenyra if he wasn't the queen?
No he actually didn't. He didn't celebrate anything. He's not obsessed with power for him. He is obsessed with SECURITY AND POWER for his family. If killing a relative means a curse...then he should have been okay with Aemond killing Luke because a curse would have been the punishment, right? He doesn't like that Luke's death makes them look weak. It's why he was so ready to get active. Daemon is the most consistent character in the show. He is willing to show his whole ass for his family. Viserys and Daemon were taught family above all else and that was taught to Rhaenyra. I think Daemon would still be with Rhaenyra because he has always fancied her.
@@ManicMeeks The book and the author himself make it clear that all Deamon wants is power! Killing relatives is considered a curse. The twin killed himself for exactly that reason. Deamon doesn't care at all how he gets power, he doesn't love Rhaenyra, he loves the power she has. He betrays her several times, and doesn't care at all about what he needs to do to get to the top, in the book he had Jaeheres killed, not Aemond, he knows that Aemond wouldn't be killed by those two, and that's all he wanted it was revenge for little Luke, but his revenge only alienated him from Rhaenyra. Deamon is loyal to his family, but it has already been made clear that he is a gray character, if you think he is a prince charming who fights for the good of his loved one then that is up to you, but that is not Deamon and everyone knows from that.
@@purplequeen833 From the first season, they are trying to victimize characters by changing events from the book... Rhaenyra and Deamon didn't plan Leanor's death in the series, making Leanor angry when in fact he was supposed to die, making Aemond sad about Luke's death when in fact he celebrated his death, made Deamon ask for Aemond's death as an excuse to kill Jaeheres... and much more, the series just turns the characters into trash, takes the example of Alicent who in the book is a manipulator and a disgrace, and in the series she is the manipulated one.
@@zerinho001 But the book is also an unreliable source since it's told by maestors. Im not taking the book into account. I'm going based off the show alone. They changed things where you can't even really take the book into account except for some events.
What Daemon said is not wrong. This idiocy needs to stop. Viserys literally made an impulsive decision to remove Daemon from heir to put Rhaenyra. That wasn't a wise decision. She was 16. He did that because he wanted to hurt Daemon.
I was waiting on your reaction and you did not disappoint! We literally had the same reaction! Team Green is complete and utter TRASH except for Helena…. 😢
