Gwayne said he spent 3 months traveling. Also technically we’ve seen Gwayne before. He was in the very first episode, he fought Daemon at the tourney. Daemon used that opportunity to mess with Otto by asking for Alicents favor before he fought her brother. He just had full armor on so we didn’t see his face.
This makes the third time in the show the word "craven" was used and someone died immediately after. The people in this world must really hate being thought of as cowards.
@@rexibhazoboa7097 in Season 1 when Rhaenyra was interviewing possible husbands, the older Bracken boy taunted the young potential suitor Willem Blackwood and got shanked for calling him craven.
I half way see where Rhaenyra's council is coming especially after they heard Criston was on the move. She doesn't have to listen to them but she can at least give an alternative to the suggestions they throw. She just gets quiet or says no and nothing else. They probably would feel better if she laid out her plans or even thoughts to win this war. Because as of now they are just sitting around waiting to be killed. I'd be scared and concerned too. 😂
That’s very true I feel she’s not saying enough about what her actual plan is too But it’s because she didn’t really have one Hopefully now that she truly knows where Alicent stands she hopefully can forward - with full comvictiion to war. (Not that a reasoning and peaceful agreement with Alicent would have made any difference at all- but I think for Rhaenyra it was her last ditch effort)
@@OpeningsOpeningsIt will be kind of too late for her too. These men already think she is passive, and the preview of ep 4 shows Cole b3heading a lord (probably the dude who asked to leave to his house) if that happens, her council members will lose their trust in her and honestly you can't fault them for it.
Most of the men or her council also are from the crown lands if I’m not mistaken so they have a lot at stake with their houses being so close to kings landing
No offense Mikel Claire but are you even listening? Alicent's brother said it took him 3 months to get there. 2 minutes later you asked how did he get there so fast? And Rhynera didn't kill Laenor. He left with his boyfriend last season on a boat.🤦♀️
She reminds me of my sister when we would watch movies. She would be in my ear asking me the wildest questions like “ why is the sky blue?” “Who’s that?” Why are they here?” “Why did they turn left?” Like sis!!! I’m watching for the first time too. 😂
Actually, @AttitudeOfAries that is exactly Mikel's point. In show time, it has only been about 3 weeks, 4 at most, since Viserys died. So if the journey took Gwayne 3 months, Mikel is asking how he got there so fast then, since it hasn't _been_ 3 months. Her only mistake is in assuming that Gwayne wasn't summoned back to King's Landing until Viserys died and the Hightowers took the throne.
Having Rhaenyra and Rhaenys try to avoid catastrophic bloodshed will make sense when this shit kicks off. We know that this was the peak of the Tagaryen monarchy (no more dragons in a couple centuries). This war was a disaster for everyone in the great houses and the realm.
The guy in the tavern is called Ulf the White. He does look similar to the smith with a family in the last episodes that is named Hugh the Hammer but they're 2 different people.
Regarding your location comment, Kings Landing and Dragonstone are not far from each other. Dragonstone is just at the entrance of the bay to King’s Landing, maybe a day or two by ship.
Cole is still Lord Commander as well as Hand. He did not dumb himself into anything. The Greens are just handing titles and responsibility over to him.
This is not the first time a KG or Lord Commander of the KG has been hand. As hand AND LC of the LG, he actually has THE MOST authority over Aegon’s army besides Aegon. He actually is expected to take part in the fighting and lead the kings army, in some way if the king isn’t leading it himself. Also Ser Gwayne was the son that daemon beat in the tourney of s1. They also mention Alicent’s uncle gathering forces at old town. They sent Gwayne 3 months ago, he said he was on the road for like 3 moons.
Who is the commander of thr Nightsguard currently? At the start of the story, it was Daemon, then it was Rheanyra's baby daddy. But he's died so who holds that position?
@@rexibhazoboa7097 In the book canon Ser Harwin only served as a captain not LC of the city watch. I don’t want to give any spoilers so I’ll just say they’ll most likely introduce someone to play the new commander of the city watch bc that is an important role especially when everyone wants to take KL & hold it.
Helaena and her children didn’t have a sworn protector. Remember last episode ser Aerryk brought this up when criston Cole was chastising him. Asking why the lord commander hadn’t appointed the new queen a sworn protector when she ascended.
Rhaena is not going as a wet nurse she was going as a protector for the crown. Rhhaenyra trusted Rhaena not only with her children but also with the future of the Targaryen dynasty. She trusted Rhaena with her children, with a dragon and three dragon eggs. That is a big deal! The actual nurse maids were going along for the trip. Also, remember Rhaela was once the ward of Rhaenyra and Baela was the word of Driftmark. So Rhaenyra has a strong attachment and deep embedded trust in Rhaena.
Finding it difficult to care about Helena is wild. She was struggling with her feelings of grief because she knows other people have it a lot worse everyday. Even when she was basically made to marry Aegon who ignores her or abuses her and then her child was killed in front of her. She couldn't sacrifice herself for him, nothing she did would've stopped them from getting the boy and she knew that. The only thing she could do was get the little girl out of that room. Alicent is not so much worried for Helena as she is guilty of putting her daughter in that position. That is why Helena told her she forgives her, in the middle of all her grief she still feels the need to comfort her mother.
Apparently in the book, it's implied that Dany's eggs are offspring of Dreamfyre(Helaena's dragon) but the show might be doing it differently. There are also other dragon eggs lying around different places at this point.
I'm currently reading the book and that's exactly where I am at: the three stolen eggs during King Jaehaerys' reign that were brought and sold in Essos...
Michal Claire I've agreed with everything you've had to say this episode. I cannot stand Criston, Aegon is an idiot and Alicent is just annoying at this point. I don't think Rhaenyra has a choice now except to go to war. I cannot wait for next episode. I think we're finally going to get a battle.
It's been no choice since people died😂 what are we talking about ? What is Alicent gonna do ? Who would listen to her ? War was gonna happen the moment viserys had a son
@@KelliFranklin you agree with everything she said? She literally misses so much, questions things that had been answered and shouts when dialogue is happening.
@@LauraGS564 I'm aware that MC missed a couple of things here and there but I was speaking in a more general way, especially concerning her assessment of characters. I agree with her assessment of certain characters and the dynamics of certain characters. I'm not one to pick them apart if they miss a few points here and there. I was talking about the personalities of certain characters.
I find it interesting how rhaenys FORGOT to mention how she killed 1000 or so innocent small folk for no reason as one of the readons the war started and how noone else has mentioned it in the show that seems like something people ( small folk especially) should talk about
13:02 Gwayne did not get there “quickly” - he said he had been on the road for 3 months and didn’t find out that his father Otto was no longer the Hand until he arrived in Kings Landing.
Rhaena has no dragons or fighting skills, so she can stay and die with her three stepbrothers , the small dragons , and the eggs , or she can protect the future. Daemond's grandparents were brother and sister and I think his parent's were sibling's to so marring his niece seems tame.
Haelena is prophetic, she has seen things and knows of things. She is very empathetic and understands that the "small folk" are suffering far worse than the royals.
Y'all were saying how y'all didn't understand how they travelled from dragonstone to kings landing so fast, if you see the map of westeros they are actually veryyyyyyy close together like there is almost no distance between them
I’m so disappointed Rhaena is supposed to have her pink dragon egg and they basically took that away from her for fan service to Dany’s eggs 😭 in the book Rhaena had her own eggs and Dany’s eggs were already in Pentos
@@alicentcorethat’s what annoys me the most! Syrax is so different looking from Dany’s dragons! I know it’s a slight thing but why couldn’t they just make them dreamfyres and stick with the actual lore around those eggs which is far more interesting than this journey
@@OpeningsOpenings doesn’t matter where the eggs came from the point is they replaced Rhaena’s eggs with Dany’s 😭 those eggs have nothing to do with Rhaena
Yep. But I understand. Rhaena is going to need to ride soon so she doesn't need an egg she needs a dragon. I still don't think those are Dany's eggs because like you said they should be in Pentos already
@@_adrian_seanthey are Dany’s eggs. The point of Rhaena’s character was to ride a dragon after the dance was over so I don’t like the change because it’s rushing her characterization when she’s just now getting screentime. Baela has a dragon and Rhaena doesn’t need to be involved at this point in the war
With all that has happened and all that will, there is no measure of how validating it was for Rhaenyra to know that her father did not turn on her - he held to his word. There are many nefarious players (none are without blame) but the worst of the worst is Cristan Cole. I can't wait for him to get what he deserves.
the two groups fighting at the beginning of the episode (the Bracken (yellow) vs the Blackwood (red/black)) are from the same families of the two guys that were bickering for Rhaenyra's hand in season 1 - the very young man (Blackwood) who killed the other guy (Bracken)... these two groups never got along for ''centuries''... smh --- About the guy at the tavern saying he is a bastard of Baleon Targaryen (so, a dragonseed), I do not understand why he revealed himself in the open in Kings Landing. I find that dangerous...
One request...just maybe not react with the lady( i think her name is mickel) coz she has problem understanding characters and things, and at times shows lack of empathy)....im sure other people will agree with me as well...😪😪 just ruins the vibe of this epic piece
Why is everyone forgetting Alicent has siblings? Daemond literally took one out at the tourney when the late Queen was dying in childbirth. 😂 I guess everyone forgot but me….
LOL I love the interaction between Daemon and Ser Simon , it was my favorite part of the episode, (besides Caraxes Flying on bad weather) Hope the Old man be allright in the next events,
The Blackwoods and Brackens are the Hatfields and McCoys of the GOT universe. They've been at odds with each since time immemorial. Daemon's at Harrenhal, which, for all intents and purposes, is forever cursed. That's why he's having these haunting dreams, portents, and visions concerning Jahaeras' murder. With Alys Rivers the Witch Queen of Harrenhal confirms his ill-fated demise, saying 'he'll die here.'
if you guys actually paid attention, you would notice that Helena actually made a funeral embroidery for her son the beginning of episode one of this season. She already first saw that her son was going to die. Her sacrificing her life for her kids would not have changed the outcome. The sons fate was already decided.
I like to think Davos Blackwood killed that Bracken boy himself with his own sword 😂 - but doesn’t really matter since Davos was lying right near him with a bunch of arrows sticking out.
@@hitskwaad this woman is actually very naive and doesn't listen to characters talking. She hates Mysaria for some reason, without understanding any of her perspective, she hates Helaena for some dimwit reason and talks shit without remembering what happened
@@LauraGS564 I completely agree with you. Mysaria is low born, part of the small folk. She’s doing the best she can with the resource and assets she has. Asking her to be loyal to Highborne royals is like asking someone in 2024 struggling in the economy to be loyal to either Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos. Like the logic isn’t making sense.
Helena is the one person on the greens that is complete victim and all the events that are happening in this conflict that and she’s doomed with Dragon dreams. She’s able to see the future, but no one will ever listen to her. It’s really tragic.
Alicent knows she made a mistake. But it is too late and aegon taking the thrown was inevitable because otto was already going to plan her getting usurped. The only good thing that came out of that convo in my opinion (because Im team black) is that Rhaenyra can finally know for certain her father wanted her on the thrown and she can officially begin making power moves and stop all this peace stuff. Also Helaena is a very interesting character to me. She clearly is a seer or some type of person who has visions (I have not read the books btw) because she has made multiple prophetic type of predictions in season one and then season two with the rats. I just find her really interesting, innocent, and honestly tragic. My question about Helaena and anyone feel free to answer if you have thoughts but do you guys think she is forgiving Alicent for being with cole that night or do you think this is another prediction where she is forgiving Alicent for something horrible she will do in the future. Idk it might be a reach but thats just a thought I had.
Your girl talked over a HUGE PART of the episode. Daemon is forcing people to address him as "Your Grace" and said HE wants to take the throne. Only the person that rocks the crown can be called Your Grace. It seems like Daemon is thinking about challenging Rhaenera. And poor Rheana.... she was trying to party at Club Dragonstone all summer. Now she got all these kids and eggs to sit on😢 Its not cerrain if they are Danys eggs. But in Fire and Blood, 3 eggs find their way to Pintos. And in The Song of Ice and Fire, Alyrio Mopattos, the unofficial King of Pintos, is married to a Targaryen dragonseed. He shows upbat Danys wedding amd gives her 3 dragon eggs.
@@badlndss it's a Crime for the King Consort and Prince to call himself Your Grace. It's an act of treason. If that wasn't significant, then Ser Simon would not have paused the way he did. The wrote that into the episode for a reason. Amd Daemon NEVER said "I accept your rule" when Rheanera directly asked him. He challenged her then. I have no doubt that will ultimately submit to her, but at the moment he is absolutely considering his choices. He thinks she's weak. Just like her father. His children and legacy is facing extinction. No oath will stop him from preserving his line.
I don't really want any dragon fights because I don't want to see dragons die. Game of thrones has no dragons partly because of this event. 😢 If I was Baila I would have burned that forest down. That would not have saved Criston at all
