It's also a therapist as well which is severely what you needed! Also, I still don't think that prayer entirely worked because the body was too damaged and in the end credits of the anime it shows that Phos and Cinnabar are praying together and spending eternity together.
@@Sarah-ilya we can only wait unfortunately lol The other day I dreamt that the second season was out but they stopped right after Phos is broken by the other gems and forgotten lol
Man, Cinnabar just wanted to feel like they belonged, same as Phos… of Phos had asked them to partner up, then literally the whole story wouldn’t have happened
Shinsha is still the word they use for 'cinnabar' in japanese, he and Adamant ((Kongo sensei)) are both the only ones whose japanese names are used in the story.
Its japanese. Japanese bought words from china just like korea. So some of their words are actually chinese words, but sometimes with different meaning
This song really connects to loneliness and cruelty of how people can leave you behind and feeling that it’s best to stay away from them even if it hurts a lot. I really connect to cinnabar because how deeply we want a true friendship but ended up alone
I remember that in the episode where they built him an obsidian coffin so that he could hibernate with the others, this one says "I had always wanted to hibernate with you" so even though Cinnabar always said that she wanted to be alone, deep inside her, she just wanted to be with everyone else.
This represents the full weight of loneliness and how troublesome it is when someone you trusted and hoped for doesn’t keep to their words at all and instead leaves you one day and you don’t know what you did wrong so you accepted it silently and took the loneliness as punishment
@@robindelorenzo1120 Still, in a way Phos gave them what the want; a happy job. In the recent chapters they were accepted and everyone treated them well. They found happiness and friends. They no longer need Phos.
Don't hold your breath, the production of the first season started 4 years or so before it came out. Then again, I assume the second won't take as long, as a lot of that time spent on the first season was probably learning how to make it, which they now know.
"i'll find more better job that only you can do.. so.. please don't go to the moon..!" with phos gradually changing this words keep ringing in my head and i think cinnabar is still hopefuly waiting for it
"better" is actually not what Phos said, it is a mistranslation btw, Phos said "Tanoshii" which means "more joyful" ,"funnier" or "happier" so better is so loosely translated.
It’s even more heart wrenching in the manga because it doesn’t even end up happening and in the latest chapters it’s painfully obvious that Cinnabar is hopeless
😭😭😭 the part when Shiro licks Kongo sensei's hand while they're disappearing is heartbreaking. You see sensei tilt his head to the side, with closed eyes, just remembering...
Siniestro Triggered. I watch the anime with subtitles, so I’m not 100% sure, but I’m pretty sure they’re referred to as females. Besides, some people like to call certain characters female or male just because it feels right to them. They/Them in some cases. These are fictional characters anyway, so who cares? If they were real, I’d say otherwise, but since they aren’t, I’ll say it again. *These are 100% fictional characters so who cares whether or not we call them females or males.* At least you live up to your name.
@@incognitomode6223 Someone else commented before me so you’ve probably done it already, but I’d definitely recommend starting from the beginning. It’ll get you familiar with Ichikawa’s art style and help you pick out which gem is which without color, as well as just a better appreciation for the art
The first time I watched this anime was during the roughest times of my school life. I was not on medication at this time and my grades were getting bad. This anime managed to make me happy. It has been a year and it still left a major impact on my life. My grades are good now and I have changed so much. Thank you, Houseki No Kuni.
People don't realize how many people Anime has helped. Haikyuu got me through the worst of my high school years. I'm glad you found one to help you push through. :)
@@superkamidende8654 people who live exposed to light more often fear and avoid darkness, however people who have seen more darkness may learn to adapt and see meaning beyond the darkness. And hence realizing the importance of light, they start striving toward it. What I'm trying to say is it seems like OP here has managed to find meaning beyond what most of the audience would consider depressing, and then use it for self-improvement. There is a lot of existentialism involved in HnK, so if that is indeed the case, then I can see where OP may be coming from.
This song is really clever. They actually incorporated Chinese elements because Cinnabar was actually used for its color in China. Man ain't research amazing.
@@superbarnie I dunno about proving the link to Houseki no Kuni, but Cinnabar was absolutely used as far back as the Age of Yangshao in China to give pottery that beautiful, scarlet color.
I'm studying Asian Music in college and bloody heeeeell hearing the anime's music in itself already made me nerd out so much and then you drop me with this
I remember when I first stumbled upon the Houseki no Kuni anime (and then the manga), it was so beautiful and colorful that I thought it was a happy-go-lucky kind of anime. But how wrong I was for thinking like that :(
Same here bro I watched it when I was 7 sometimes in the episode they have like the name of the gem and the hardness I was watching it for the knowledge of gems for school just in case in the future and I loved it and didn't watch the episode where antarc and the final episode at that time rewatched it and boi this anime made me cry alot then any other anime 2yr later I rewatch again read the manga and boi more tears came I'm glad phos made a new rock friend
(Major spoiler for anime-only's) As of chapter 87, I am actually really saddened with the relationship between Cinnabar and Phos, even frustrated could be used as well. What really frustrates me more though, is the fact that during one of their conversations after Phos came back after going to the moon, Cinnabar said "Someone like you who is beloved even on the moon, doesn't understand how it feels like to be lonely." I mean like??? Wtf?? Phos was literally always lonely from the very beginning. They felt lonely because they don't fit in like the other lustrous; they're kind, while the others are apathetic. Cinnabar CHOSE to be lonely, but was happily accepted into the earth gem's community, but before all this happened, Phos was treated as nothing more than a nuisance. Literally everyone wouldn't care if they was gone because it's not like it'd change anything. They literally hated themselves for this, and tried to find happiness but got into a spiral of insanity. Furthermore, Cinnabar themselves rejected Phos' offer to go to the moon with them. And after that, they pretty much stopped caring about Phos. Meanwhile the latter was shocked, and traumatized to see Cinnabar attack them during the gem civil war. They clearly doesn't expect him to go after them. At that point, the ship has sunk. I wish they both would care more about each other, but now.. But hey! At least, they did indirectly got Cinnabar a job. Y'know, cheerleading! Everyone loves them now. They're not lonely anymore. And this is all are results from the sacrifice of Phos' sanity. Fun. Still, I might be overly biased though because I _ADORE_ Phos. I will side with him any day. Houseki-no-suffering on tumblr did a great analysis on this honestly. I truly wish something happy would come to their relationship, but since Ichikawa is a sadist, I guess I better give it up.
-I'm an avid AntarcPhos fan btw 👀- I'm really looking forward to the Phos vs Cinnabar fight if they're having one, since the chances are high anyway. I heard on the blog that another name for Cinnabar is "Chu Sha" (I think) and is considered a treasure in Buddism, somewhere.. 🤔 Dude, if that's true and the last treasure is fucking Cinnabar I would be so hyped and sad and the same time. I can't wait for the next chapter. 👀👀
@@shionashiel couldn't have said it better! Phos tried really hard to show the other gems his worth and help them but they welcomed him by breaking him to pieces!
@@what-xu6gr I know what they mean, but the problem I have is that they're literally just assuming that Phos is never lonely or doesn't understand the concept just because he's wanted by the lunarians just because of his colour, when the truth is the opposite.
Omg I'm having a theory. Maybe the more pleasant job is preparing to stop Phos. I'll explained myself, since Phos got to the moon with all the other gems , Cinnabar got closer to the other members of the group. So maybe Phos will die knowing that Cinnabar was happy with the other members fulfilling her mission. Shit this could be so sad
Cinnabar reminds me of the person you constantly want to be there for and love. But since they hate themselves and don't know/ are scared to know what their goals and purpose is, you can't do anything for them...
It’s really sad that she finally finds her place because phos left for the moon it’s so depressing that the one thing phos wants for her is only capable of happening if she’s not there
When I watched the anime i thought phos and cinnabar friendship going to grow, now... after reading the manga... i just wish phos to be happy like her old self T^T
It's been a while since this anime came out, but to be honest, i can't get over the fact of how good the soundtrack is. Btw, is anyone here in 2018? I am :)
I'm in 2020 If they release season 2 it's going to be painful But I'm ready to suffer and enjoy be happy appreciate how great the anime is Still waiting season 2
this song is the reason i watched the anime or even heard about it as spotify recommended it to me I've now caught up with the manga and have no regrets, so much pain but so good
Rest in peace sonia (@s_s_s880). May you be remembered for your Hnk cosplays and fan art. You held out for so long. Please allow your soul to rest from the pain you must of felt.
It's hard to pull away from a song with such a moving power to its composition. I might actually need help to stop listening to this so I can feed myself.
been looking for this since i first heard it, this anime visual, voice acting, story, characters, and especially ost is amazing the manga is amazing too :)
i have a feeling they wont, but i hope my feeling is wrong. But i highly suggest you read the manga, after episode 2 i binge read the manga and caught hope. One of my top favorites and it only gets better.
God, this anime is so beautiful... the worldbuilding, the visual direction, the music, the character arcs, the metaphors for trauma and the ways it changes a person and the way they interact with the world; it's all just so perfect. SO WHERE IS SEASON 2, STUDIO ORANGE PLEEEEEASE
Listening to Cinnabar's theme while reading the final chapter had me weeping. I only started reading the manga a month ago but man I feel empty now. Spoilers for 108 . . . . . . Phos will continue to travel space and time, finally at peace.
Yo, the final panel is like a reincarnation thing with another Phos in another planet? Or is just parallelling a moment with Phos watching a shooting star?
I’m conflicted on cinnabar on one hand she does have a reason to seal himself from everyone but his cold attitude is only going to make it worse even if the conflicts in the manga didn’t happen things won’t get better for cinnabar unless he goes forward to change and try something new
The Ending. Some parts of the Character Development. How little is actually explained about the world etc. I know this will spark some controversy but, I have read the manga. And in comparison the Anime is so unsatisfying. The story of the Anime/Manga is good. It's nice alternate reality of what could happen to earth, but in the Anime almost nothing of that is explained except that one instance where Phos speaks to the Queen in the Sea. They could've taken a lot more from the Manga, and could actually have created a more satisfactory ending. The Story as depicted in the Anime just lacks core parts of the lore. You could basically see it as a massive teaser, like "Look we're here, for more info go read the manga".
i know what you mean, they did leave out something crucial out of the manga before or in the middle of episode 12. But i still do enjoy it nonethuless of how cinnibar is acutally involved more and it makes me acutally care whats acutally going to happen in the future for cinnabar and Phos in the manga
Like I said, it wasn't bad per se, it was a massive teaser to get more involved with the story, they did well in that regard. And yeah, Shinsha has more of a presence in the manga because you actually see her fight. Fight scenes will almost always be portrayed better in an anime.
you should read the manga, since we haven't gotten any news on a second season, or if there ever will be one. So I highly recommend you go read the manga, but I should warn you, it will be very painful
@@Malakai__WeLoveYouMafumafu Actually, I did read the manga. And it is my all-time favourite manga. I just hope it returns from hiatus soon...... And yeah it was very painful
I hate this omg. I hate this cause i know what will happen next in the story, the manga will not pull any punches when it comes to make phos suffer. Its painful and if i get see it animated i will definitely tear up but... I will and always love it.
I remember being in awe ever since the first episode about humans having evolved into gems. I don't know why, but gems are elegant yet fragile, maybe just like human soul and i was amazed. I still am... Ichikawa protrayed humanity so well through not human characters, which is beautiful in my opinion 😢 Also, " the most human emotion is vengeance" really hit hard. While reading it i thought about everything humans are capable of doing, for the better or for the worst Houseki no kuni is pure art and really philosophical
You know what is the worst? When I finished the anime, it left me wondering what happened next with Phos and Cinnabar... Don't read the manga people, for your mental health don't do it
As a atheist this started my interest in Buddhism, when i watched the anime, in scene when Shiro find his peace and become nothingness, i have a feeling Phos will become Kongo successor. And i was right, sort of. This is the reason i and many others love anime. The writing and storytelling, i dont know if there is anything that can move you and be on your mind weeks after watching.
