In Ukraine buying a house in a "remote village" for $5000 involves driving 20 km to get to the shops. In the US, living near major cities, it's not uncommon to be paying $500,000 and having an 80 km commute each way to and from your job. I had a feeling about Ukraine! But my question as a home owner in USA, is what are the yearly property taxes, do you need to pay for permits to be able to work on your house? And as a US citizen, can I even buy and own and LIVE in UKRAINE? Can you as a foreigner own the LAND the house is on too?

You will go through hoops, and extra expenses due to having more than one real estate broker/dealer/agent. But you can find deals despite that. Be aware, the cost of realestate is the same or close to US prices and most are listed in US dollars. Like anywhere else in the World and the US as well, prices vary from insanely cheap to redonkylously insanely expensive. I guess the best thing is to enjoy the hunt and adventure while we are still able to

Great video. To point out a garage where I live in London England costs around 15.000 and that is in GBP (Great British Pounds) so that is about 19000 USD. 15.000 to keep your car in garage, that could be 5 houses in Ukraine. I think ill be retiring in Ukraine.

The country is UKRAINE (УКПАІНА), not "the Ukraine". There is no definite article, and that is frankly insulting because its connotation is that it is a territory and not a country.

Foreigners are not allowed to own agricultural land in Ukraine. But it's probably not to long a process to gain permanent residency and then citizenship
@@barberton3695, You are correct. Individual Ukrainians can't own over 15 acres of agricultural land. As for residency. You have to have a job or be married to a Ukrainian citizen. I'll comment further on the married aspect. Once your married you have to apply for a long term type D visa and then apply for temporary residency. Both are good for one year. You then have to apply for both again. Once your second year is completed you can apply for permanent residence. The process is not easy, the required documents are extensive but, it can be done. I'm in my second year of temporary residency.

A really unique a colonial style house the main structure are very strong only need to repair or redo the parts n area where wood are concern . Wow! They are cheap even by indian standards !!!! Even in my small indian town , cheapest is usd 30,000( without any land). In Australia cheapest house would be $usd100,000 ( maybe 3-4 hours away from a city) Nice video

all you say a house needs? bathroom, plumbing, water, heating,..i do all this. build from scratch and when i am done new house...so for me this would be an adventure and so much fun. i now some people don't like to do anything they want it all done before they get there,..but me no..i like a challenge,..that is why i got into drawing engineering design,..and graduates as an architect. In 1990 a big part of the german population in some regions of Romania left for Germany. So, the house prices were extremely low. We sold our big house in the center of a big city for 7000 german mark, shich converted would be today 3500 Euros. Recently, the house was estimated to cost 130 000 Euros, and was sold for 100 000 Euros - with some repairs and modernization however. Anyway, it would have been way to difficult to live in Germany and keep care of a house in Romania, especially since there was another, vilain familiy next door, were some relatives lived and left for Germany unter comunism, so they were forced to let the house to the state for nearly nothing. So, I am very glad that I got rid of that evil family.
