I feel like bridgeton is more young love whereas qc is more about what happens after happily ever after. It talks more about complicated topics like loss,grief and infidelity . I feel like the older generation of bridgeton is realistic and can actually delve into forbidden unfulfilled love and i would love a violet season as well.

it hits you even harder when you realize that queen charlotte and lady danbury aren't just nosy conspirers to debutantes' marriage affairs but they're involved because they don't want the debutantes to end up like them ! charlotte being married off to someone whom she doesn't know and agatha being married to an older man at a very young age, both for convenience to their families. rarely do arranged marriages end up like george and charlotte's and to see that they'd go through lengths, just like when charlotte allowed daphne to marry simon even though daphne did lead on her nephew, hits so hard.

To be Devils Advocate for Lady D *AGAIN*: Lady D and Violet sitting down and having tea isn’t because they don’t acknowledge what happened with Lord Ledger. They do. It’s just that they acknowledge the fact that Lady D slept with Violets father in a respectful and mature manner. There’s no interrogating, no lashing out, no shaming! Violet and Lady D acknowledge it and *then they go on with their lives* and it’s so refreshing

We also don't see the aftermath of Lord Ledger's decisions. You know Lady Ledger wasn't cool with him dancing with Lady Danbury, let alone attending the funeral. I hope Violet's view of her parent's marriage gets explored as she's "looking for a gardener" 😋

As someone who is mentally ill, I really understand Georges struggle with accepting love from others. You feel broken and unworthy and while its easy to love others because they have worth and are wonderful and lovable, it kind of feels impossible to think of yourself the same way. This show really, really got to me on soo many levels. Shonda needs to pay for my therapy, seriously.

Yes I think the books really do cause issues for some viewers they can’t separate the two. Like I get o would like I bit more kanthony but people just couldn’t enjoy their chemistry. George's stock skyrocketed with female viewers after he stepped in and helped deliver their baby, and probably saved her life. A lot of Marine sergeants would've scurried out of that room in a panic at the prospect of turning a breech baby. But George acted like he'd been a midwife for twenty years.

Apparently there was a deleted scene where Brimsley and Reynolds pass each other in a hallway showing that Reynolds is alive but they've drifted apart over the years, possibly because of the difficulty in maintaining their relationship when Reynolds has to stay with George and has done for years while Charlotte and Brimsley have a different home and household

This may not be talked a lot but I think the reason why they focused on Edward in particular and his wife being the one "continuing the line" is to foreshadow the fact that that child of Edward was none other than Queen Victoria. Knowing this makes that last scene very powerful.

I enjoyed season 1 and LOVED season 2, but Queen Charlotte just hits different. I’m bipolar and I get feeling unworthy of love or like a burden because of your illness so seeing George and Charlotte’s story gave me a sense of hope. Charlotte saw beyond the perfect kingly facade and beyond the symptoms of his illness to see “just George”. Seeing George express this negative self talk that I’m sure a lot of mentally ill people can relate to (“You don’t wish for a life with me. No one wishes that.”, “I’m half a man”) and having that refuted by someone who loves and understands him has made this show a comfort watch for me. I’ve rewatched the finale an embarrassing number of times at this point. “I will stand with you between the heavens and the earth. I will tell you where you are” kills me every time. Omg the Simon/Daphne shade at 35:46 😂

I think one thing that I truly appreciated is that you can see the cost of all consuming love. In the flashbacks you see how excited Charlotte and George are for this kid. But 20 years later they have had 15 and they are strangers to them. Kanthony remains the number one but what I liked about this season is that there were stakes beyond the immediate nature of romantic love. Charlotte loved a mentally ill man who happened to be king when being mentally ill was not a thing anyone, much less a king, could be. So she had to be perfect for the both of them. I get what you are saying about taking the side of the kids cause in this, they were wronged by Charlotte. But this show kind of highlights in the last episode, with George not being able to speak to Parliament, how Charlotte bad to be both monarchs and how reasonably children could fall through the cracks while she is trying to preserve his line and probably thinking George doesnt have time but I can deal with my kids later. It really shows that you can't perpetually give 100% to 1 thing and expect to have anything left to give another.I will not rewatch cause I was stressed the whole way through and not in a good way but I felt a ton of genuine feelings and that is always a good thing for a show to be able to do. Anyways love your videos and hope you post more long videos on RU-vid because they are really great

@wwaxwork
@wwaxwork Год назад
It's not 20 years later, it's easily 40 or 50 years later as all the daughters are past child bearing age. ie they have gone through menopause. It's one thing to love your kids, it's another to mollycoddle a bunch of middle aged men and women, many of whom are estranged from their partners. Queen Victoria's father was 51 when she was born her mother of the future Queen Victoria being a widow with 2 children. These were not even young adults, these were people that should have been grandparents themselves at this point in life.

When George was under the bed and he said he was hiding from the heavens or when he said that the heavens could not find him under there, the first thing that came to my mind was that he was feeling PTSD from his abusive father. It made me wonder if he used to hide under the bed from his father or if it was where he used to go to feel safe, which is one of the reasons why being under the bed eases his mental issues cuz he associates it with safety. At least that's what I thought the writers were implying...

I think that last scene says so much about Charlotte’s character and explains her relationship with her children. She’s still completely consumed by her love for George and has been grieving and loving him for all these years. I truly believe that her obsession with the kids continuing the line has nothing to do with the monarchy but with George himself. He’s been hidden away from the public for decades sbd has little to no relationship with his children because of his mental illness. Charlotte fears that because of this, he will be forgotten in history without any heirs. She’s desperate for his line to continue because she’s terrified that if it doesn’t no one will remember the man she loves. It’s sad that her children bore the brunt of that, but I see how that came to happen. And yes, Kanthony are still my number 1 couple 🤭

Regarding Agatha and Violet. I understand that they decide not to touch the subject. they are older women and they know that if there is nothing more to say on the subject, it is already in the past. Violet's father is dead, and I guess she knew there was no love in her parents' marriage. My mother used to tell me that after a certain age, she preferred to leave the hornet's nest alone. 33:58 Heck YEAH. Everyone started raving about how amazing Charlotte and George are and of course they’re a great couple, the mutual pining, the butting of heads, “I care not for his madness, I care for his soul”, the quiver in Corey’s voice as he was confessing was HEARTWRENCHING. Buuuut. The personal journey Kanthony go onto because of their love? The unwinding of trauma? The growth? In general I feel like 3 mainline Bridgerton seasons are targeting me, specifically, as an eldest daughter who wants to start a family, an elder sibling that carries the brunt of my father’s legacy and as a bigger girl who has crushes and whom nobody sees as a candidate 🥲 At least I can watch other girlies win…. I’m really curious about Benedict’s season though, knowing the setup of his book. I also liked him a lot more from the get-go then other brothers, he was such a sweetheart and a goofball, but Anthony grew up and out of Sienna drama and Colin got the lead man glow-up, so who knows :D

Agatha & Violet did talk about Agatha’s relationship w/Violet’s dad. It was an honest & sincere discussion. I heard it; did you not? Not everything needs to be spoken to be understood. It really bothers me that you say Lady Danbury fucked Violet's dad. That debases their relationship. Lady Danbury LOVED Lord Ledger; Lord Ledger LOVED Lady Danbury. They let each other go because they loved. If they were just fucking, it would have continued. Violet didn't want to know if they fucked; she wanted to know if Agatha cared for / lover her father. Which Agatha confirmed when she said leave the hats where they are; they are cheerful.

It's not that she f'd her dad. It's that she loved her dad. She loved him and she cares for Violet because he loved her so much. The Bridgerton's represent the loving marriage and family she never had, and could have had if only circumstances had been different. They are as close to man she loves as she can get, and it's not just for selfish reasons. She genuinely loves them and wants the best for them. Violet was only 12 when LD got with her dad, and they hadn't even met untill after the "affair" occured. I'm sure it will come up in some way during season three. And I have a feeling there's a lot more to their story that happened between the end of Queen Charlotte and when we see them in the first season of Bridgerton. Lady Danbury falling in love with Lord Ledger is very significant to her relationship with the Bridgerton's throughout the series. I'm not telling anyone what they ought to feel or believe, I just get a little annoyed when people try to make it out to be dirty and all about sex when they obviously had genuine feelings for one another.

that last scene of queen Charlotte smiling, really hits the heart. past seasons of Bridgeton and many many times of the present scenes show the difficulties she bares because of their situation w/ george. you just really feel bad for her, even lady danbury said that she cant move on or mourn properly because he is alive, just rarely is present anymore. and when she said that makes you wish that she could move on. but seeing her smile on that last scene you see why she is willing to bare it all and hold on for those tiny moments when george is here with him. and it hurts cause we already knows how hard it is for her but we now root for her, for their love

Not me trying not to cry again watching you cry at the parts that made me cry. The ending scene has my heart! As someone with chronic illness (both physical and mental), seeing George and Charlotte's love story really hit different. I had been a bit worried midway through when it seemed like we might head in a "my love can heal you direction" but am so happy with where the writers took us instead. I relate to George so much and Charlotte, though imperfect (appreciate and agree with all the nuance in your criticism of her), the love, care, and understanding she showed him is something I hope to find one day. In regards to Violet and Lady Danbury/Lord Ledger, I felt sooo much second-hand discomfort watching that hat scene. Violet really said "I just need you to know, that I needed to know, that you know, that I know". I actually liked that it didn't turn into some blow up or rift though. The affair happened decades ago before they were friends or really acquaintances with their age difference. I also appreciated the portrayal of how interconnected people's lives can be without their knowledge sometimes. Violet has such an influence on what we see happening in the Bridgerton universe and some of how she approaches life and her compassion were attributes shared by her father. So it was fascinating to see her have to reflect on that and how his influence wasn't just limited to her family but even extended to her dear friend and an incredible woman she admires. I can understand your disappointment though because your script would have better fit the "grand love story" ideal. Overall, story-wise this season was my favorite! I'll probably only revisit pieces of it because it was so heavy in parts but yeah loved it!

Shonda also spoke about this you can’t really blame Charlotte for acting like every mother in the 18th century her role is even more tough than the other mothers. If you’ll mention how she’s not close to her kids then h would have to mention lady d too, the kids feel closer to their nanny and none of them are with her now. Augusta cares a lot for George but because if the crown and what it means she had placed so much empathises on his lineage cause there would be nothing for them if there’s no continuation of their line. Charlotte had 13 kids and they have 50 illegitimate children almost like they don’t care even tho in the 18th century that was very important. Even Michele who played Augusta stated a mother then wasn’t a mother now.

I tried to watching Bridgerton when it first came and it just didn’t hook me. Gave up after two episodes. Heard the audio of love declaration and was intrigued, saw it was only 6 episodes and watched it. I knew a little bit of history so knew the “twist”. God damn did this hit so hard, it absolutely activated the hyper fixation part of my brain. I watched the whole thing in a night then 3 more times over the next week. Absolutely could not care about “present day” Lady Danbury/Violet thing. But everything else had me hooked. The leads just killed it. I also loved that there was an ACTUAL obstacle for this couple. Like he had actual reasons for trying to push her away, that wasn’t just ego. He was in a really impossible place. But he’s so sweet, so fundamentally good, it’s just… Likewise Queen Charlotte was just such a wonderful character. How she fell for him, how she did have negative emotions about being lied to, and about his mental instability. How she did think her love could cure him. But how she learned and adapted and accepted him, because she really does love him. At the end when they see each other as they where, because that love is still there… Tried watching Bridgerton again because I just wanted more of this… Again it just felt so thin to me. So George and Charlotte will be my only real taste and that’s okay. Anyone have any other bitter sweet romances to recommend? Where the ending is satisfying even if not perfectly happy? I WANT MORE!

The kicker with Queen Charlotte is that I didn't even want to watch it! I was not interested, like, at all lol, didn't like Charlotte's character in prev seasons and only caught a glance of one trailer. The only reason I watched it was because I had time to kill and it appeared in recs and I clicked on it lmao, but OMG! This spin-off UNDOUBTEDLY became my favorite "season" hands down and Charlotte/George became my favorite couple bar none, there's not even a competition they're that far up (the only one's with potential are Francesca x Michael, my fave Bridgerton couple from books, but they won't be brilliantly written by Shonda so we'll see how it goes) - their chemistry, the acting, the writing - everything was insane and insanely good! I already rewatched the show literally COUNTLESS times! I think what made them hit with audiences (and me lol) SO hard, enough to be considered as the best so far and maybe ever, was that we literally weren't expecting *anything* but suddenly got everything ever, just like that out of nowhere 😂 The second couple would probably be Simon and Daphne, but only for the first half of their season (we don't talk about the second half, welp), they were very cute during that time and had good chemistry. I rewatched those episodes a couple times. And the last would be Kate and Anthony... Controversial opinion lol, but oof, I did not feel the chemistry there and the story/characters didn't get me invested..... only watched the season once. It also didn't help that I recently reread the book and - putting aside JQ's usual problematic aspects (smh) - the book reminded me why I actually liked the couple and Kate and Edwina (book Edwina FTW!) and how the season didn't deliver for me on either of these three points, sorry 🥺😭

Yeah I agree with everything you wrote I didn’t even want to watch it. I did only because I saw the garden scene sneak peak. I was blown away when I watched it. Can’t believe I almost didn’t. My favorite and saphne next. I didn’t see the chemistry with kanthony. Anthony was great but In my opinion simone can’t act. She is beautiful but the acting not so good.

i don't think it's unrealistic for that to be how lady d and violet handle the affair situation. everyone else involved is long dead, and i don't think she has questions about why it happened (violet knows how unhappy agatha was in her marriage, and i'm sure she can deduce that her father felt similarly). plus agatha met lord ledger first, and it's not as if she and violet were contemporaries; agatha's significantly older. i would understand if violet wanted to end their friendship, but if she doesn't, i don't think there's anything to be gained by talking about it!

You were talking about why Charlotte and George had so many children. I know that the Bridgerton universe is not strictly historical, but I think it's easy for us to forget that back in the 1700s, the only real form of birth control was abstinence or pulling out. If they were married and I love, then of course they would be intimate with each other often. We forget in our culture of abortion that the natural outcome of sex is children. Historically, even after they had an heir and a spare they would continue to have children because their Royal bloodline provided husbands and wives for the nobility of England and for other families to continue as well. Marrying your children to the royalty of other countries was also a way of making alliances and the more children you had, more bargaining chips.

Lord Ledger and Lady Danbury were each in an unhappy marriage and were mutually attracted to each other. I don't think she initiated the affair, nor pursued him. That's just my 2 cents. Great video. Can't wait for Season 3!

George and Charlotte are number 1 for me and have the best love story so far. Although I like daphne and Simon fake dating trope way better than kanthnoy’s cause their love story didn’t hit for me I’ll still place them 2nd my last over daphne and Simon.

Charlotte and george seem more grounded in reality because we got them falling in love after marriage, whereas the other 2 the marriage was a culmination of their love. I feel like they’re the epitome of choosing to love every single day and as I’ve grown up that is the kind of love is what I fantasize about. But yeah daphne and simon gave me the swept off my feet whimsical love that I live for in romance

I understand why you put Kate & Anthony in first place, and for me no matter what happens in the future seasons of Bridgerton I’m sure it will be the same. Said that, that couple is incomparable to Charlotte and George, because we see both their young love and the mature love, and also we find out what they went through and never gave up. Maybe it’s my age talking.

I loved this show. I appreciate how they didnt tip toe around hard topics like grief and loneliness. It made me underatand why Charlotte is the way she is. I will put george and charlotte as number one because I love how they saw each other as people and not just a title . I wish she was able to have a better relationship with the children, However I did appreciate how she had those moments with her sons who got married, showing us her motherly side. It gave me hope that she could possibly make some changes in that area. Great show, amazing messages about devotion, mental health and woman being more than their status. ❤❤ P.S under the bed scene kills me every time .

I have Simon and Daphne and Charlotte and George ties for number one, I’d have to rewatch season 1 to see. Because simon and daphne are what I used to fantasize over and charlotte and george are what I want now as I’ve gotten older. But kate and anthony irritated me so bad 😂 I don’t mind them together but their chemistry didn’t give like I wanted it too, maybe because I just never liked Anthony that much. And I just hate how they got together because I feel like they played in Edwina’s face entirely too much and as an older sister, if I even had an inkling that the man she wanted was trynna get at me, I’d be telling her immediately! It would’ve been one thing if Kate was falling for anthony but she had no idea he liked her so she stuffed her feelings down for Edwina, I totally get that. But after a certain point she knew Anthony truly wanted her and that’s when it became too deceptive for me. And anthony also could’ve been upfront with edwina like yes its embarrassing and hard to hurt somebody but it would’ve been less embarrassing than Edwina realizing at the damn altar!!! I just can’t get past that lmaooo

I hear you, except that Kate always told Edwina that Anthony wasn't looking for love. And the minute Kate realised that she and Anthony had feelings for each other, she DID try to tell Edwina (end of Ep 4, I think) then Anthony immediately proposed to Edwina, making the situation impossible for both of them. Anthony's whole deal is that he did not want to marry for love; he was marrying out of duty. He has also always said that, even to Edwina on their wedding day. He would have married Edwina if she hadn't called off the wedding.
@ceriseanne1
@ceriseanne1 4 месяца назад
@@DanBrown96 Yes - people forget that up until the point that Edwina said 'I cannot marry you, Lord Bridgerton' that Anthony still wanted to move ahead with the wedding. He was that committed to a marriage without love. So everyone who had hard feelings about Edwina - news flash - it's because of HER that Kanthony got together!

George and Charlotte my beloved! These underdogs took over and became the best Bridgerton couple with the best and most insane chemistry! Was NOT expecting that at all! Saphne were hard-carried by RJP and his hype and would have done much better without the questionable storyline in the end :/ Second place I guess. Kanthony though... I did not feel any chemistry there at all and that season was so hard to watch.... I felt like it took me a few months to get through it that one time I did watch it.... Coming in super late with my 2 cents worth 😅. I think the Lady Danbery and Violet's dad situation made so much sense. Hear me out; because she had only ever known an older man. While then free, he was the right amount of familiar yet different to be 'safe' for her to try out. While it didn't work out, it couldn't have. She would have fallen into that relationship because being in one all her life was 'safe' and 'familar'. A younger man, like Charlotte's brother, would have never worked particularly because of that. He would have been too different. My personal head cannon is that she clicks so well with Violet, is partly, because he was her first 'choice' at an attempt at love.

I agree. I really appreciated what QC has done. It's pushed boundaries in many ways, including romance and mental health, older women's sexuality and love and parenthood. However, it's just not as enjoyable as B2. Imo, the series also needed to be longer (at least 8 eps). As it is the stories felt incomplete, like we missed some parts of them. But still, QC is far ahead of B1 😂😂

Have to disagree on Violet and Lady Danbury. It was never going to be a fight. Violet adored her father. Violet’s mother was seriously unpleasant and not nice to her. Violet now knows her father was loved, that he is remembered. LD took the hat out after Violet talked about loving deeply and missing Edmund. I think Violet has a giant heart and to know her father gave LD that hat made her happy.

Talking about the ships, Book Kanthony also had hit too close to home to me, and the book (even though I have my problems with it) it’s one of my favorite romances of all time, but in the tv show, I think they were done dirty because of the other plotlines, like the Featheringtons, that took too much of the time that Kanthony desperately needed to give us context about them. I always feel like there’s something missing to their dynamic in the show, while in Queen Charlotte I thought everything was so calculated to make us understand why they love each other and why they did everything that they did, for each other and for themselves. I wish they had done that in season 2, because I also love Kate and Anthony to my core 😭 and the casting was so perfect, they deserved a more well-thought storyline. I still wish they have that, they can be the next Featheringtons of the next seasons taking more time from the other main couples IDC
