How Bad Was Need For Speed Most Wanted?

Developed by Blackbox Games and published by Electronic Arts, Need For Speed Most Wanted (2005) is regarded as one of the best and most influential games to ever be released. So when it comes to the Criterion reboot in 2012, you think they'd do a better job at just respecting the sacred Most Wanted name. But even outside of the game's imfamous name, is it even good to begin with?...

I’m quite different from the haters because as much as I can’t stand EA, I do enjoy this game despite it being Burnout Paradise but with real cars. Perhaps my only favorite game in the Need for Speed series, and this is coming from a diehard Burnout fan.

Despite general opinion of the game being negative, I enjoy it. Well the multiplayer at least. And this title having the problem of not being anywhere near what it's supposed to be because it had to be out by X timeframe seems common for nfs, and just about anything under the belt of EA. And it took until 8th gen consoles for them to realize that

well, you see man i have heard the "it's more of a burnout game" for a long time and I'm tired of it. this game was and is injected with the nfs DNA, the only problem being the wierd actions that happened behind the scene with EA (as you thought) and well it's the year 2012 what do you expect from EA? their management became instantly soo shit at this exact time and I know I know you want evidence? look at dead space 3. like why did they do this? what is wrong with them? seriously, people love the soundtrack and the core driving and gameplay of this game(beside the crash cams fuck them). I mean the racing feels right and everything is there by like 60 to 70 percent but they just... they just... man I'm over this shit, im sure you get me. still a really good video. keep it up. edit:(oh and also knowing some people in the game developing industry and most of'em have the same opinion that the dev team was promised more time and then they were told to just put it in a box and throw it out on the market for the next month, yeah thank you EA)

Still more of a Burnout title than a Nfs title

I like the video. It's funny, well edited, just a great watch, but very much disagree with it. Although I have played only 3 need for speed games I think (this one, criterion's hot pursuit and payback) this one is still the most fun i've ever had in any racing game. I don't know why you have technical problems with it on pc, I never had any and don't really see much input lag. To me handling feels quite snappy and once you master it, it's really rewarding. The soundtrack is an absolute banger (seriously, there is not one song i dislike, while in payback for example there's like one song i enjoyed?). I agree that the car cuatomization is lacking. But like you're saying there is no progression? What? Unlocking upgrades for every car is like a mini adventure. You have to complete fun races and just do stuff you'd normally do, like drift for X seconds and unlock i believe race tires pro, or something like this. To me it always felt refreshing when I would pick up a new car and mod it to be better than some top most wanted ones. And while we're on topic of them, they are some of the best looking ones in the game. Loborghini aventador for example, or that aston martin. Plus those videos you watch before racing them are so god damn good. I rarely skip them even if I fail the race, because I enjoy watching them so much. I might be blinded by nostalgia, because this was the first nfs I played, but even after playing payback recently and coming back to most wanted, I still think this is the most fun racing game I played. Payback is awful and will always be. The cars feel slow, the story is boring, the progression is awful (cards? fucking cards?) the only thing that saves it is that it has some cool cars, but even then, driving them feels like a chore most of the time. and the map is boring. Ngl, I also played burnout paradise and imo steering is worse in it that in most wanted. I feel like a log with wheels made out of square stones would be easier to steer.

hey about the fps and input delay, just crack the game, no joke, they both go away when u do. and about the hard events, ever tried needle point? hardest event in a need for speed game.
@tranceboi6948
@tranceboi6948 Год назад
If you need to Crack the damn game just to make it run, then you know that the devs fucked up greatly in the optimisation. That's not mentioning that you lose the ability to play multiplayer entirely if you do this. And for needle point being the hardest in the franchise, the only reason it's so infamously difficult in 2012, is because it is the most egregious in artificially making the race difficult, since it throws in shitloads of traffic and police and roadblocks (SWAT truck roadblocks too mind you even on certain blind spots of the race) at you without giving you a single breather throughout. It doesn't help that it exemplifies the worst parts of the game's awful handling, especially when you're really going fast since there's a lot of unavoidable bumps, in the highway. Doesn't help that the track chosen is fucking dogshit, considering it has surprisingly amount of tight sections where you can easily miss and fly off, and it really requires luck/RNG for the bumps, and you hope to God that the game makes you turn to avoid the ramps and to have you properly turn in properly in some cornering sections of the abandoned airfield section for needle point and the chosen cars you're given (which all three of them handle like uncontrollable dragster land yachts with the exception of the Bugatti Veyron for some fucking reason) whilst choosing the worst game mode which forces you to keep that speed up and be almost perfect in doing so (if you really want the gold) for it to make you really suffer for actually no reason other than to make you artificially pad out the time for you to get gold.

@Tranceboi69 you've explained everything I love about the damn game, also the game runs on a gt710, at 1080p at ultra settings, so all your critisms about the performance is null, and about that handling, it's the best in the series, better than mw 2005, I am dead serious. Furthermore, about the buggatti being a yacht, next time, if u ever give a damn to give the game an actual chance, there's a really neat feature called "braking" try it.
@tranceboi6948

@@IPlayKindred that's funny, cause I have over 60 hours of playing the game and yes, and since you insist that I've never used the brakes, (even though the majority of the time I was using brakes and handbrake a lot of the time, even in the most openable sections, as it's the only way to control your car remotely well) I have used the tried and true fucking method of using brakes you obvious piece of wet rag, and have also used the handbrake at the same time when it comes to some of the more tighter corners for less than stellar handling vehicles. Cars handle like boats even in long stretches of highways, they're very awkward to adjust and handle, and drifting feels very scripted and unatural. jumps feel like you're always on the moon (doesn't help that one of the most useless upgrades just makes you jump way higher, in most situations, it doesn't help, infact it hinders you majority of the time, as even without it, you can make jumps pretty well, don't forget that the cars tilt the front down til the crash cam shows up at random and fucks up your race), even with the upgrades that you'd unlock in your car, like better tires, lighter chassis, better aero, and also get the upgrades kits, from the doing the boring challenges, it still manages to make your car handle and control like a damn semi truck. Burnout paradise perfected the handling formula for criterion, as it felt a lot more natural and it was tight and responsive, you've had way more control in driving the car, and benefitted it greatly in the upper mountain sections, were you don't have to use the braking point in certain places, just good ole engine braking and racing lines should do the trick. Hell the original TUB never had any input lag or issues and even the more buggier remastered port never had any issues of this sort. Even though this is more of a suggestive criticism, but I personally think that the ost was also much better than MW12's (not saying that mw12's ost is shit, I just generally don't like it's soundtrack) and you also had the option to play and add music to your folder, this was at a time when devs actually gave two shits about stuff like that and actually put time and care for their games. So why in the fuck would criterion not use BP's obviously superior handling to the one that is inferior to BP's handling model It doesn't solve the fact that THE CAR WILL STILL WANT TO DRIFT AND SLIDE ALL OVER THE PLACE IN A VERY SPRATTIC AND UNNATURAL MANNER THE MOMENT YOU PRESS THE NRAKE BY JUST 1%. So you still lose control even with the slightest of tapping down on a brake( which doesn't happen in majority of arcade racers, that's not the case, and in sim games, the worst thing to happen if you do brake entirely is that your brakes lock up and you can't turn your wheel at all until you let go of the brakes themselves or adjust the amount of pressure on your brake till it becomes completely controllable.) Nevermind the fact that you've skimped over the removal of the multiplayer section entirely if you pirate it, and the fact that you have a pirated version of the copy and I have a legit copy of the game myself so DRM and ea's bullshit EA PLAY factors that in, how is it that a game that I'm running it with my RTX2070 and I5-8700K with 16gb 2666MHZ of ram and a pretty good Samsung 860QVO SSD, still fucks up and and gets to moments where it gets very choppy and even crashes in most races, it's not even that my hardware is that old or weak to begin with, it's because of really shoddy optimization, cause EA mad criterion rush the game as soon as they have them very few months to just package the game the way it is. Not even burnout paradise had this problem, because again, it was a much better and a more polished product overall as a result even the infamously bad remaster that is BPR never gave me any trouble at all from start to finish.

@@IPlayKindred no it's not better than the og If I steer just by an inch the car goes full swing to the left sorry for trying to keep myself on the road and not crash And "The handling model is the best in the series" is a straight up lie just because you and other 5 people like it doesn't mean it's the best in the series
