I can’t guarantee that all of the make-up and skincare products I recommend are best for you or your specific client/job. I only use products and feature the ones I personally LOVE and have tried them on myself and my clients. I cannot say it will not cause a allergic reaction-because everyone is different. To be safe always test any product before using it. The products I use in these videos are either purchased by me or sent to me by make-up companies to use professionally. I do not accept payment and am not sponsored to make any of the films on this channel. Some of the links under the videos and blog posts on my site are affiliated, however and as stated before, I only feature products I like, or want to try.

I think this was a great question Allison! As a new artist, I often question myself however, my passion for the art is deeper than any doubt hiding in me. I took a step out and attended an intermediate workshop. I beat myself up on the way there an while there. I was shocked that I got any positive feedback afterwards. No one is perfect and we must all practice at every stage. Ultimately I believe if your passion is greater than the any doubt, you will be successful and you are a good enough artist.

Im in the middle of my makeup education right now, and i can say that i have gone from "Im not sure I'm so good but... i wanna work with it behind movies" to "i am soooo good at makeup, talent!! i learn so fast omg!!" AND it is so fun to discover that about yourself!

love that you are talking about makeup education, i did that too just as a hobby, but I am appalled by how many unprofessional advice is thrown out here by uneducated self-proclaimed muas... and the real ones reach the audience so slowly...

I really loved this video! I used to doubt my abilities all the time (sometimes I still do). But I’ve come to the point where I stopped comparing myself to others but used their strengths to inspire me to become better. I keep educating, researching and working to be better. I absolutely loved that you talked about that in this video. Beauty and fashion makeup is my passion and I’m determined to keep going and enjoy the ride! Thank you so much for this! Btw...how did I just find you? Lol! Definitely subscribing!

Hi @DeShawnHatcher, when you attending makeup school, did your program include courses which revolved around small business skills, marketing and sales? I've noticed that some schools offer this in their curriculum, while many others don't . It's always great to have these skills.. I am writing from Toronto, Canada. Thanks!
@DeShawnHatcher
@DeShawnHatcher 7 лет назад
HI Lyczious, my school sucked lol My teacher, thank God was great. No, my school did not have any business anything. The curriculum was extremely limited. I do think having business is extremely important if you want to become a Pro. BUT don't rest on the education of the school, always seek outside education. Good luck to you.

Hi dear Deshawn, thank you so much for your videos. I have a question - I am 40 years old . Is that too old to go into doing fashion make up? Currently I am a freelance MUA for people who are going for events and sometimes advertisement. Tq for your time Deshawn! :)

+LIND HI LIND! NO!!!!!!!!! Fashion is all about creativity--thinking outside of the box. The only funkiness to it is when you first start out its normally not in a cushy studio. You will be schelpping all over town, long hours--sometimes over 10 hours. It really is more of stamina issue than anything. You know lugging your kit up flights of steps etc. I just paced myself and was able to get through. If you're thinking it's an age thing--I say NO! I technically started fashion around 37-38 and its been fine. You know there are many of the power players who are well over 40 working behind the scenes. You must submerge yourself in the world of fashion. You homework is to know the latest looks in advertising, runway, and magazines as well as the past. Your education will be the world of fashion. YOU CAN DO ANYTHING! Go out there and conquer fashion ind see you backstage at the shows someday!

DeShawn Hatcher Dear DeShawn, thank you SO MUCH for the reply and tips. I definitely feel optimistic after reading your reply and will work on it. Thanks so much :) It is a long stretch but how totally awesome would that be (to see each other, at work, backstage during fashion week! :D...thanks again for your videos! I am certainly learning a lot from it :) Best wishes always to you DeShawn :)

Oh my, last year I took a short course in beauty care at my town's TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Philippines)) affiliated training center. And the instructor did not know what the hell she was doing. She rarely does demos, and most of the demos she did are very disorganized and hard to understand, especially her night makeup demo my poor classmate looked like she had been punched after the instructor was done with her. And my theory was proven during our hair lessons when she told us to mix 9% oxidizing lotion with our hair rebonding treatment, Let's just say that our models almost sued us after a few days. It turns out that she was not licensed yet, and the training center hired her because she knew one of the higher ups. Let's just say that I graduated with the same knowledge I had before the course even started.
