How Fame And Money Ruined Tom Segura & 2B1C | The Complete Timeline

For the past 2 years Tom Segura has gone through a drastic change, not only physically but in terms of his personality, his comedy and being out of touch, he's a completely different person from just 2 years ago. However, I also did get reminded that Tom is a legit comedian and can still make a strong come back.
So for the past 2 weeks I have been rewatching the entire 2Bears1Cave catalog at 1.75x speed and I skipped the most recent ones and a few others with guests. And watching the change was pretty interesting.
But if you want to see the entire timeline of just clips of what I thought where the most interesting parts of the entire show, I'm thinking of uploading it on the 2nd channel. Comedy Enforcement Live, it's nearly 3 hours long but I'm not sure yet.

Not sure if you can find it, but old 2b2c or ymh had a guest that told Tom "you're going to be doing this forever " because he has kids to support and they're both under 10. Seems like Tom tried to fast track his monetary gain and lost sight of longevity.. he's burning himself out, possibly financially.

Tom Segura grew up as the son of a vice president at Merrill Lynch. He grew up with money and never had to worry about money. That’s why he’s spent 40 years trying to make it as a comedian, because he could. Tom telling people that they should figure out is the funniest thing he has ever said.

yeah even the story he told on ari shaffirs show (which is supposed to be about crazy stories) was just "when i was in school i was a narco junkie and accidentally OD'd, then my dad said he was disappointed which made me sad". its such stereotypical "rich spoiled kid" story.

@samael4550
@samael4550 3 месяца назад
Yeah idk about that one lmao. Especially if the guy doesn’t normally read, he’s not gonna read a whole book for a singular episode of a podcast. And that doesn’t make him an awful person lmao, or even really a bad host. You don’t have to read an entire book to have someone make a guest appearance on YOUR show. And Tarantino is just fucking annoying, like Jesus Christ just say “I know you didn’t read it”, the way he’s so Hollywood and over-the-top was painfully cringy to watch. (I don’t even like Segura and agree with this video, but the Tarantino example is the weakest of the bunch, by far)
@stevenleblanc8146
@stevenleblanc8146 3 месяца назад
I agree. Why does a host have to read a guest's book before an appearance? If they wrote books for a living, having at least one under the belt would probably help with the episode but if they played shortstop, is watching them play baseball not enough? The host has to buy their vodka and cologne too? Maybe give em a rub and tug while they're busy hanging off their nuts.

Seeing all these old clips in contrast to their new stuff really shines a light on how out of touch they both have become. Tom was by far my favorite comedian for a LONG time. I never liked Bert's comedy that much, but I enjoyed his dynamic with Tom on 2B1C. Now, I can't STAND to hear either of them speak longer than 5 minutes without being annoyed. Hearing Tom basically gloat about how much money he blows, immediately reminds me of a bit he did in his "Totally Normal" special from 2014. He talks about shopping for things WAY out of his price range knowing he can't afford it. Now instead of relating to his audience, he basically says "haha I'm rich, you're poor! Good joke right?!"

These kratom vendors have products with additives and unconventional growing and harvesting techniques and it seems to be highly addictive. is there a best of Tom Segura podcast moments compilation to watch on RU-vid? because I've literally never seen the guy say something funny. People say he fell off which implies he used to be funny? When? I'm not talking stand up, I mean as a talk show guy. He's just sits there being boring hoping that the other person says something funny. Or are his podcasts not supposed to be funny and i don't get it? Someone please explain why people watch these two talk, i don't get it

I liked his early early stand ups. Thought he was a funny guy. Standups have progressively gotten worse, and I only see his podcast stuff on these criticisms videos because the dumpster fire fascinates me. Bert is insufferable and not funny but at least seems like a good friend. Tom's become arrogant and pretentious

Tom didn't change, this was the person he always was. He put on a facade of normality to milk the most money out of his endeavors and then reverted to type when he felt he could milk them no more

It’s a theory, but I kind of doubt it. If he was really always this self-absorbed and egotistical, I think it would have been unbearable for him to present himself publicly as a slob or an ordinary average Joe. If you’ve ever known a highly egotistical person you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.
@kennethfocarino7075
@kennethfocarino7075 3 месяца назад
No, Tom did change. He had a catastrophic, extremely public injury, whilst at the SAME time, probably making 10x more money than he’s used to. This stuff DOES change someone. When the entire world is falling apart, you’re more successful than you’ve ever been, and you had a legitimate health crisis, you might dial in and become very practical very fast. Tom couldn’t help but capitalize on everything being thrown at him, and probably became a slave to this opportunity. I didn’t stop watching YMH becuase Tom became a dick, he was kinda always a bit of a dick. It just became a whole lot less fun, becuase I can tell Tom isn’t having any fun. It’s all very inorganic and purpose built. We can feel how forced it is. That’s the problem. Edit: Oh yeah, he also had two kids during this period. If you can’t see how all this could overcook a person and alter them, you’re not thinking about it right.

To be fairly optimistic, Shane as shown tendencies towards humility. Hell, the guy was embarassed being called king in the LOS pod after SNL. I know most of them (those in the controversy) were kind of humble by status. However, even on Joe's pod, he dont show signs of superiority out of the ordinary. (We all are proud to not shit in bottles, I wish) Hoarders reference* Theo is a proof that tendency is indicative of being real. If Shane become full of himself Mckusker will keep the dawg in check. He is the Shaman for a reason. EDIT: Clarity (failed, butt fuck it, we ball)

Tom is a perfect example of how it's not L.A. that changes people. It's the money. Also, I like how the austin exodus comedians thought that the L.A. comedy scene would die when they left. It just made room for other established and up-and-coming talent to get their shot.

The whole “money changed him” idea doesn’t really add up though, because he was already rich for many years before he went through this change. I agree with the creator of the video, I think it was more about the accident and his response to it.
