Good video man. I know its years old, but good information. I have a show in 4 weeks, i usually do a recovery style diet post show. Its tough watching the shreds fade away, but its needed to make improvements.

@@CodyMcBroom1 you're welcome! I dropped from 5'8" 215 lb -> 165 lb two years ago (did two weeks @ 160 lb too for a vacation), did exactly what you were talking about here over the next three months, bulked for a bit, back up to 185 lb, and am now coming back down with the goal of maintaining around 170 - 175 lb. The initial cut and reverse diet were with an awesome coach who really challenged my thinking, I used to have the common "all or nothing" restrictive mindset around nutrition. Crazy how many people out there are starving themselves and overtraining cardio, I did that for a while too... It's annoying how much bad nutritional information sells. I try to stay on the lookout for solid content like this to help friends on their fitness journeys make the same mindset shifts. So thank you boss!

Dear Cody, Thank you so much for your response with your video and offer for your coaching. I appreciate it a lot. You have a pure heart for people. Today, I weighted myself and I went from 6th June: 74.5kg to now: 74kg. I'm realizing that my metabolism is increasing a lot by eating 2100 calories a day from monday this week (6th June - 9th June). Now I'm eating 2250-2300 calories a day. I feel better to be honest. I held my weight like 4 months after a not correct weight loss because I ate 1500 calories but my mainance is at 2900 - 3000 calories. At the first time I added up to 600 calories more and now it is going faster. I do weight training 4 times a week and once time a week I do endurance training. After I ate 2100 calories for a few days, I lost a bit weight and then increased my calories by adding 100 more and I didn't gain weight that much and it maintained for a time but then I lost again weight after some days with the new maintainance and increased it again. Is it a sign to increase the calories a bit more and is it a sign that my metabolism is speed? What do you mean by individually? Do you mean that individually, if my metabolism is fast, I can high up my calorie maintenance more than 10% more calories per week, f.e. 100-200 calories per week? Can I eat 1-2 bars of chocolate a day? Because I eat healthy and balanced. I hope you can answer my question. If not, it's totally fine. I'm looking forward hearing from you soon. Best regards❤️

There's a lot to unpack here and some of this isn't 100% clear here, or just can't be answered via comment because it's so individual... but I'll do my best to help! The amount people need to increase calories by, week to week, varies a lot based on their individual metabolism and diet history. So yes, it can be a simple 5% but can also be 20%. It's so independent, so I suggest starting on the low end and starting to increase. Then as you go, you'll see how your metabolism and body responds and from there you can determine exactly how fast YOU specifically need to adjust the diet. Can you eat chocolate? Lol yes! Of course. As long as it fits your macros, you're fine.

Dear Cody, thank you so much for your response. I appreciate it a lot. Now I understand what you mean by individually. Yeah, now I eat like 2250 calories but see a bit gain weight on the scale because I weight now 74.9 kilograms. I was like 73.5 kilograms after my diet and now it is increasing a bit because of the reverse diet as you said in your previous video about that. This new calorie mainance will stay after I see some weight loss. When my weight goes down like under 74.5 kilograms, I will high up my calories mainance by adding 50 - 100 calories more per week. I don't know if it sounds correct. Your videos helped me a lot. I can sleep really well right now and it is a really good sign. My daily routine also improved in a positive way. Sports is also going a bit better because I can lift more weight. When I ate too less I couldn't lift too much and this was a big problem because I lost muscles time by time. I'm looking forward hearing from you soon. Best regards❤️

@@CodyMcBroom1 Dear Cody, Now I eat 2350-2400 calories and weight the same (74.5kg). Thank you so much for your help. Now I see slow but good progression in the gym with the weight training. It is getting better. When I see on the scale that I loose some weight, I increase the actual calorie mainance by adding 50 calories more. When I lose some weight again, then I increase it again by adding 50 calories more to the actual mainance to make a new mainance. Is it good what I do? My actual mainance is 2600-2700 calories which I tracked again. I tracked it incorrectly before.

Will reverse diet work for a body recomp goal?
@johannahultgren2887

Can I start a reverse diet and still do the same amount of cardio but just increasing my calories? I want to increase my calories since I've been eating lower calories for years. But I still really want to improve in running as well as weight lifting. I want to be able to run faster and for longer, so I still want to do the cardio:( Is there a smart way to go about this?
@CodyMcBroom1
@CodyMcBroom1 8 месяцев назад
Yes you absolutely can! If your goal is running for performance, rather than for fat loss or calorie burn - that’s fine to do. Just pay attention to biofeedback. If your hormones, diet fatigue, recovery, sleep, etc… doesn’t improve, despite increasing calories - you’ll likely need to drop cardio off or be more aggressive with the calorie increase.

If you do to much cardio when it's time to cut you can only cut calories because cardio is already been maxed out. No optional for the future.

I used to this same way, afraid to gain bodyfat because of the whole 'lean is better" BS we see. its not worth it man, eat some food, feel great and lift heavy to build more muscle. if you feel like crap, you won't sustain it anyways so eventually, you're going to regain some weight. Do it the right way, incrementally increase your calories to gain more muscle and less fat and you'll be fine. Abs are so overrated to me. I'd rather have more muscle mass.

Take it slow and eliminate your calorie deficit. I'd do so by first lowering your step count, because that will definitely play a huge role here. Then work your calories up AFTER your steps are to a place that are for more sustainable and NOT a burden (easily could be cut down in half, unless you work a very manual labor job where it's naturally that high). But the best tip is to just do as the video suggests! Take it slow and work your way out of the deficit. If you want direct guidance, which is often VERY helpful -- not only from the logistical perspective of macros, but also for accountability... click the link below and book a call with myself or someone on my team. The call to learn more about what we do is completely free. tailoredcoachingmethod.com/online-coaching/#online-coaching-form

@@CodyMcBroom1 why is it important to decrease the activity level? What if I wish to add calories to properly fuel?
@CodyMcBroom1
@CodyMcBroom1 9 месяцев назад
@@fionajensen2952 unless it's for performance needs, it doesn't really help do the job of recovering from the metabolic and hormonal adaptations going on. If you end your diet with poor biofeedback and some health concerns (non-scary, but more so general health concerns post diet) -- keeping cardio too high or adding more only keeps the deficit going. Think about it like this... If you're in a 500 calorie deficit and add back in 250 calories, but also increase energy expenditure by 250 calories via cardio... You're still in that same 500 calorie deficit and no health markers will improve.
